Love them or hate them, pop stars are everywhere. We have had them in every generation from the ‘50s to present day and they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. From Elvis to Ke$ha, they all have something special and different to offer whether it is a solid voice, songwriting abilities, awesome beats to shake your tail feathers to, or just a really great performance in general. Pop stars offer some of the best performances to go see (well they are called performers for the most part, right?). Whether we were born in the ‘80s, ‘90s, or even the 2000s, we can appreciate what pop stars bring to the table.
What if we told you that we can guess what year you were born in based on which pop stars you like most? That would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it? So think hard. Do you like Madonna, Cher, and Celine Dion, or are you more of an Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and Britney Spears type? They all are different because of the generations they come from, but they all are awesome in their own way. So take our quiz and pick your favorite pop singers and we will tell you what year you were born in.
Taylor Swift
Well, let's be real—we all know who Taylor Swift is. You have been living under a rock if you don't know her, but do you like her and her music? Her personality can be a little hard to tolerate because she is just so dramatic and always feuding with someone, but someone has to be listening, right?
Justin Bieber
Okay, we all know that Justin Bieber is no longer the cute, innocent little kid he once was many moons ago, but the crowd still goes gaga over him. Sure he isn't everyone's cup of tea, but some (girls specifically) can't get his beats out of their heads. He's got to be doing something right.
Michael Jackson
Here we have the King of Pop. If you say you haven't boogied to one of his beats then you are a liar point blank. Although he might not be your type of music, he has definitely been played at a party you've been at and you have for sure gotten down to his beat. Don't be a liar.
Beyonce
Beyonce, or Queen Bey as some people know her, hails from the pop super group Destiny's Child then spun off to make her own solo career and did she ever make that happen. Although some people don't always walk to her beat, you can't deny that Bey has got some serious range.
Rihanna
She hails from the island nation of Barbados and has legs for days! She also has that island sound that makes her just a little different than every other pop star out there. It's refreshing to have a different sound come out from time to time because it all can start to sound the same after a while.
Adele
She has a soulful voice that many people that aren't pop fans appreciate. Adele sings about love like it is the most rotten thing on the planet. Someone has hurt her, we get it. The thing is she still believes in love after she has been destroyed by it so horribly. Good for you Adele.
Britney Spears
Love her or hate her, Britney Spears is here to stay. Whether she's topping the charts or not, people love her. Not to mention her rockin' bod. Who doesn't want to look like her? Britney might not have had the best voice on the planet, but people didn't really seem to care that much. they loved her anyway.
Madonna
Madonna was one of the artists that really put shock pop on the map. Pop was so squeaky clean before Madonna hit the scene. When she came about, she was singing about virgins getting touched for the very first time and under aged pregnancies. Life got a little crazier when Madonna was around.
Lady Gaga
People either love or hate Lady Gaga. She is a real artist when it comes to the pop world, which is more than many other performers can say. Lady Gaga puts her heart and soul into her music and really sings for a cause with some of her music. The problem is, sometimes she's too loud with all of her causes.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry takes a whimsical approach to pop more so than pretty much any other pop star. Her costumes are not as trendy as many other pop stars like to dress; however, they send a fun message to the listeners. Katy doesn't get into serious topics, she just likes to have a good time.
Selena Gomez
There's not much to say about Selena Gomez except she's just a typical pop star. She kind of just melts into the crowd and there's nothing that really all that different about her. However, she did date Justin Bieber for a little while, so I guess that's something to say about her.
Elvis Presley
Okay, Elvis is awesome. He was from a whole different era, but he was just a man that stood absolutely alone when it came to talent. Unfortunately, Elvis didn't seem to put a whole lot of effort into taking care of himself, so we lost him much too early. Imagine what other music he could have made.
Bruno Mars
Bruno Mars is so much more than just a pop star, he is a pop star that is bring the Motown movement back. How cool is that? Everyone like Motown when it was a thing. It was easy listening, catchy beats that were fun to dance to. Bruno just brings a fun pop spin to them.
Demi Lovato
What's cool about Demi Lovato is that she isn't afraid of who she is. In fact, she has openly come out about being bipolar and has made efforts to help those with the disorder. In a time where bipolar disorder is not really looked upon to highly, that's a pretty darn cool things to do.
Mariah Carey
Well, we all know that Mariah Carey can be a major diva. We've all seen it or heard tales of it. However, she has one of the best voices with one of the largest vocal ranges around. Not to say that she deserves to treat people like utter crap, but I guess you can see where the major attitude comes from.
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande is another one of those pop stars that just kind of melts into the fold, but she also tries to have an edge about her that really doesn't seem to work a whole lot. Come on, the girl is a literal stick figure and she tries to act like she's all tough? I'm not buying it. Sorry Ariana, it just doesn't work.
Nicki Minaj
Not everyone loves her because she does have a bit of a mouth on her, but obviously people love her too. She is a tough girl that obviously came from a rougher background, but that's what makes her music so cool. Not to mention she can rap like a flippin' beast.
Elton John
He's one of pop's icons, and for good reason. How many hits does Elton John have? Who knows because it is a literal metric ton! What's also great about Elton John is his openness about his sexuality. He came out at a time where it wasn't so popular to be gay, and good for him too.
Prince
Who doesn't love Prince? The guy could do everything! Every instrument on his albums was played by him—how awesome is that? Sure, he had a band live, but that was only because he couldn't play everything at the same time. he did it all, and was one of the few pop stars that could.
Miley Cyrus
Not many people are huge fans, let's be honest. The majority of fans for Miley Cyrus are teens and pre-teens. beyond that it's pretty much crickets for the former Hannah Montana star. She definitely put a bunch of shock in her pop that is for sure—hello, Wrecking Ball?
P!nk
P!nk is one of the dark horses in the pop world. You wouldn't expect someone like her to be a pop singer because she seems like she'd be more into the metal scene, but her voice is phenomenal. She really knowns how to put on a show as well as she does tricks you'd see in Circe de Soleil or something.
Whitney Houston
You can't deny that Whitney Houston has a five-star voice. Some of her music would bring people to tears it was so beautiful. Starting her music career out as a gospel singer singing at church and progressing into a pop singer only seemed natural for her when you think about it.
Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake is by far the most popular member of the all-star boy band group 'N Sync. After making his solo career happen in a major way, Justin also made his acting career happen as well. Matter of a fact, Justin really turned just about everything on because everyone knows who he is.
David Bowie
David Bowie comes from an era where the lines between rock and pop were very blurred. In fact, David was once called Ziggy Stardust and his band were The Spiders From Mars. He was one of the most talented and androgynous acts of his time, and he started the way for many other acts.
Eminem
Was he a rapper or a pop star, that's for you to decide? Eminem had a lot of beats that were loved by pop fans as well as rap fans, but where the lines really blurred is when he released his hit movie 8 Mile. People didn't know what he was anymore and if he was going to do more acting or not.
Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson was the very first winner of American Idol way back when if you can remember. It seems like forever ago doesn't it? Since then, Kelly has come up with a slew of hits and has even starred in a movie (that didn't do so well). We love Kelly for her humble ways though.
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez didn't start out as a pop star. In fact she started out as a dancer. Then she moved on to be an actress. Singing was her back up job if you can believe it. Imagine having that much talent that singing is your fall back job. that's pretty insane isn't it?
The Weeknd
Just like Eminem, The Weeknd is one of those crossover artist that you just don't know which genre he is exactly playing for. Is he a DJ or is he a pop star. For the sake of argument, many people think he is a pop star because many of his beats have a lot of pop elements to them.
Christina Aguilera
She was the rival to Britney Spears, she is none other than Christina Aguilera. You were either on team Britney or team Christina during these days. it was a tough decision, but everyone knew that Christina had a way better voice than Britney ever did.
Janet Jackson
Janet, Ms. Jackson if you're nasty, right? Well, she's the second most famous Jackson on this list obviously underneath her brother, Michael. Janet didn't have it as easy as her brother. She struggled with her weight throughout her career and it really seemed to follow her around.
Shakira
Okay, those hips definitely do not lie. How the heck does she even get them to move like that in the first place? Shakira is the pride of Latin America as she proudly represents her home country of Columbia. She has quite a voice and quite the movies too.
Cher
We are throwing it back to the '70s on this one. Not only did she have some pretty awesome pop songs, but she also had a variety show with her husband of the time, Sonny Bono that was incredibly popular. Of course, she went on to make movies and have a bunch of op songs in the '80s too.
Celine Dion
Celine Dion is known more by all of the moms out there, but she had quite a career during the '90s and a revival when the movie Titanic hit the scene. What people don't know is that she became famous when competing in a annual competition Eurovision for team Switzerland.
Avril Lavigne
She was what many people called "diet punk" because her beats were much more pop than they were punk, although she felt otherwise. She dated punk guys on the scene, but no one really ever respected her for having any punk roots whatsoever. Sorry Avril.
Ke$ha
Oh Ke$ha, what are we ever going to do with you? She brushes her teeth with bottles of Jack apparently. But she actually is known for dumpster diving. Kind of crazy but it is the truth. Although she is known for being a party animal, Ke$ha also fell on bad times recently with some rape cases that went very sour. Poor girl.
