Fantasy movies give us a way to escape the real world, which could get boring on a day to day basis. Think about it; getting up and going to work every day is not always the most exciting way to spend your day, but after you get home plugging into a great fantasy movie can really give you a place to go after that long, hard day. Whether you like fantasy movies that involve more of a comedy element, adventure, or even drama, they still offer you that much-needed getaway you pine for. Don’t tell me you don’t wish your foot would fit in the glass slipper or that you could go on a quest to Mordor?

Of course, you would like to change up your day, take up arms and defend your honor sometimes. Budget meetings don’t allow you to necessarily win over that knighthood you pine for. The Dark Crystal is about a crystal that has been cracked creating two new races—the Skeksis and the Mystics. The world of magic, with Muggles (or no-majs in the US) is under deep scrutiny, and it doesn't help that Newt Scamander is travelling with a bag full of fantastical creatures that like to, occasionally, get loose.

Jumanji is about a boy that played the Jumanji board game and got sucked into the game never to be heard from again until another group played the game years later. The game, which is enchanted, brings the jungle to their lives as well as a bunch of danger. The only way for them to be freed is to get through the game though.
