Anyone who’s a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has surely seen Avengers: Infinity War by now. And quite possibly even a second and third time while it’s still up on the big screen.
With the film grossing well over $2 billion at the box office and counting, it’s clear that audiences were by and large pleased with the third installment of the Avengers franchise, which finds Earth’s Mightiest Heroes teaming up alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop the Mad Titan Thanos from acquiring all six Infinity Stones. But that being said, it’s not hard to see that some of our favorite heroes made some fatal flaws throughout the course of the film.
Some have argued that Thanos could have easily been defeated on a number of occasions if the Avengers and Guardians had simply worked together. But instead, there were numerous instances where the heroes favored emotion over logic by handing over Infinity Stones to save a loved one. While this compassion has saved them before, it didn’t do them any favors when facing off against someone as cold-hearted and calculating as the Mad Titan.
So let's find out if a little more strategizing would have spared the heroes from being dusted by Thanos!
Pick the strongest Avenger.
There’s plenty of debate over who is the strongest Avengers, and most arguments usually come down to these four teammates. While Thor definitely seemed to do the most damage to Thanos in Infinity War, Scarlett Witch and Vision also couldn’t help that they had to keep back from the Mad Titan.
Pick the weakest Avenger.
What helps keep the MCU grounded in realism is that not all of the superheroes demonstrate supernatural powers. Which also means that many of the Avengers are far weaker than their fellow teammates. So which one of these 100% human Avengers is most likely the weakest?
Pick a strategy to defeat Thanos.
What the heroes were sorely lacking in Infinity War was a strategy to take on Thanos. Instead, every one of their plans to thwart the Mad Titan was often hatched at the last minute. This is largely because the Avengers were split into two factions following the events of Civil War.

While the heroes in the MCU had largely been undefeated before the events of Infinity War, they seemed to make an awful lot of mistakes when it came to facing off against Thanos. Aside from Thanos, Loki, and apparently Red Skull, most MCU villains meet their demise after just one movie. For fans of the comic book, this is really a bit of a shame considering that many former villains end up teaming up alongside the heroes at some point down the line to take on an even bigger threat.

Outside of each character's armor, there’s really not a ton of weapons floating around the MCU. This may seem like a missed opportunity, but what it really does is let each individual character standout with their supernatural powers instead. But out of these four prominent weapons, one is surely stronger than the others.

The Space Stone and Mind Stone are indeed powerful gems, but when people often debate which Infinity Stone is the strongest, it often comes down to these four. Of course, what we’ve seen these stones do in the MCU has been very different than what we’ve seen them do in the comics.
Which faction of heroes should Gamora have traveled with?
Many people have criticized Gamora’s decision to travel to Knowhere, essentially playing right into Thanos’s hands. But on second thought, she is one of the most powerful Guardians, and without her, she may have thought that her fellow teammates had zero chance of ever stopping the Mad Titan from obtaining the Reality Stone.

There are a ton of superpowers within the MCU to choose from, but when it comes to facing off against Thanos, certain powers like super strength and genius-level intellect just aren’t going to cut it. Then again, none of these powers alone would probably do the trick, but which one might be the most beneficial?

While we finally got to see the Hulkbuster armor being put to good use once again, we also got to see some totally new suits on display, including Iron Man’s Nanobot suit and Spider-Man’s Iron Spider suit. But if the Average Joe could only put on one of these when up against Thanos, which one should it be?

Even after he acquired a couple of Infinity Stones, Thanos still had to physically track the others down. It’s not as if he has physic abilities directing him where to go. Therefore, by hiding the remainder of the stones one could give themselves a lot more time to regroup and strategize a long-term plan.
Pick a strategy to get the Hulk out of Bruce.
In the opening scene of Infinity War, Thanos easily beats the Hulk down without even using the power of the Infinity Stones. Therefore, Bruce has a hard time calling the Hulk out of him throughout the remainder of the movie. If only one of his allies could have made him angry enough before going into battle.
Which one of these MIA heroes could have been the most help?
Since we have yet to see Ant-Man and the Wasp — which is set before the events of Infinity War — we don’t exactly know what prevented Ant-Man and the Wasp from suiting up to save the world. And the same goes for Hawkeye and Valkyrie, who were also MIA throughout the entirety of Infinity War.
Should Doctor Strange have traded the Time Stone for Tony Stark’s life?
What exactly was Doctor Strange doing throughout the course of Infinity War? Not only did he fail to use the Time Stone to create a loop and defeat Thanos, he could have also used any number of portals to chop of the Mad Titan’s arm — taking the Infinity Gauntlet away from him in one fell swoop.
Should Spider-Man have disobeyed Tony’s order and stayed on Ebony Maw’s ship?
Though he may be a valuable asset thanks to his superhuman powers, it’s clear that Spider-Man still has a lot to learn when it comes to being an Avenger. Being a hero isn’t always about being brave, and Peter Parker certainly makes a risky decision in Infinity War by staying aboard a spaceship when he’s ordered not to.
Pick a location to rendezvous with the other heroes.
Even though the Avengers split into two factions following the events of Civil War, it was pretty stupid of them not to have a rendezvous point should the world need saving again. After all, they had already been up against two world-ending scenarios when they faced off against Loki and Ultron in the previous Avengers movies.
Should Gamora have traded Nebula’s life for information about the Soul Stone?
Yet another life that was traded for an Infinity Stone, it’s more than a little strange that Gamora was willing to sacrifice her own life to protect the Soul Stone, only to save her adopted sister’s life later on when Thanos wants the same information. Might Gamora have made a fatal mistake in doing this?
Should Wanda have tried to destroy the Mind Stone in Vision sooner?
Unlike Gamora saving Nebula and Doctor Strange saving Tony, it makes the most sense that Wanda would have had the most trouble destroying the Mind Stone. After all, it resided in her partner's forehead — and would likely have ended Vision as a result. So did she still make the right choice in waiting?
Pick the strongest Guardian of the Galaxy.
While Drax is known as the Destroyer, we’ve actually seen him crack far more jokes than prove himself on the battlefield as of late. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, Peter Quill may seem pretty harmless, though don’t forget that he is still half Celestial thanks to his father Ego.

When it comes to the two superhero teams, it’s hard to deny that the members of the Guardians are by and large stronger than the members of the Avengers. At least when it comes to the weakest of each group, as even Mantis and Nebula have more powers than Hawkeye and Black Widow.

Most people were annoyed at Peter Quill for beating on Thanos when the other heroes were mere moments away from removing the Gauntlet. But he also dropped the ball way earlier when he failed to keep his promise to Gamora, which involved ending her life to prevent Thanos from ever getting knowledge about the Soul Stone.
Which character should have never had an Infinity Stone in the first place?
While everyone was speculating who was worthy enough to hold the Soul Stone, many forgot that some of the stones that were already in play were being held by certain individuals who were less than worthy of their power. These characters not only didn’t know how to wield the stone, but they also did a terrible job of hiding them.
Which Marvel character who has yet to make an appearance in the MCU could have been the biggest help?
Anyone who stuck around for the end credit sequence got a glimpse that Captain Marvel will be making her appearance in the MCU sometime soon. She will no doubt play a role in defeating the Mad Titan Thanos. But could any one of these other Marvel characters have an easier time doing the deed?

None of these characters belong to either the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy, but that doesn’t mean they’re not some of the most powerful beings in the MCU. In fact, one could easily argue that someone like Doctor Strange or Valkyrie is stronger than most members of the Avengers or Guardians.
