Who Thinks They Can Name 100% Of These Christmas Movies?

It’s that time of year! It may be cold outside (for some of us at least), and it’s the perfect time to snuggle up with some eggnog or hot cocoa and watch a ton of Christmas media. After playing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” for about 100 times, it may be time to take a break and watch some classic Christmas movies.

Christmas movies are a special genre, since they’re only watched (by normal people, at least) for about a one-month period, and then are shelved until the next winter. This means that there aren’t all that many Christmas movies, and that a lot of the ones we love to watch are super old.

While there are some outliers, most of these movies fit a certain structure: they’re either rom-coms with some completely out-there premise or they’re a children’s movie that reinforces the spirit of Christmas and tries their best at confirming that Santa Claus is real. They’re bound to make anyone feel warm and fuzzy inside, and that’s by design—who would want to feel sad during Christmas, after all?

Even for those of us who love Christmas movies, we tend to get stuck watching our favorites over and over again, and don’t normally branch out, which means that even a big fan of Christmas movies may not know all of the festive titles that are out there.

Take this quiz to see what it takes to be a true Christmas movie buff!

Question 1

Name this classic holiday flick.

Buddy was accidentally sent to the North Pole as a baby, so Santa took him under his wing and raised him along with all the other elves. Seeing as though he’s a lot taller than everyone and doesn’t have pointy ears, he starts to feel like he doesn’t fit in. He sets off to New York City in search for his real dad—who ends up being a very important businessman. He tries to develop a relationship with his father, but it’s hilariously difficult considering that they come from polar opposite worlds. Maybe along the way, he’ll even find love with someone who looks just like Zooey Deschanel (because she is Zooey Deschanel).

Question 2

What is the name of this Santa movie?

In this universe, when one Santa passes on, another Santa must rise--which is honestly a really frightening and strange rule. This duty was given to single, divorced dad, Scott. The current Santa fell to his demise while climbing up Scott’s roof on a ladder, so being the next Mr. Claus was contractually his responsibility. He denies this tomfoolery at first, but as the year goes on and the next Christmas gets closer, he starts to develop Santa-like features, like rosy cheeks and a white hair and beard combo. It seems like this regular guy really is going to be the next Santa after all.
