Who Said It? The Big Bang Theory Edition

The Big Bang Theory is a sitcom television series which first aired in 2007. There will be a total of twelve seasons when the series finally comes to an end, which will be taking place in 2019. In total, there have been over 250 episodes that have aired, and there is still more to come in season twelve. In the beginning, the show consisted of five main characters and their friendship. This included Howard Wolowitz, Leonard Hofstadter, Sheldon Cooper, Raj Koothrappali, and of course, Penny. The four guys were all friends prior to the pilot episode, it was only Penny who was new to the group. However, as the series progressed, two secondary characters were eventually promoted to the main cast. Of course, this was none other than Amy Farrah Fowler and Bernadette Rostenkowski.

With a total of seven main characters, there are lots of one-liners, statements, and phrases that have been heard over the seasons. Not to mention the fact that there have been twelve seasons after all. Being that there has been such a high volume of screen time, only the biggest Big Bang Theory fans will be able to figure out who said all of these quotes. Let's try!

Question 1

“Interesting. You’re afraid of insects and women. Ladybugs must render you catatonic.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Interesting. You’re afraid of insects and women. Ladybugs must render you catatonic.” This statement is said earlier on in this series to one of the main characters, Raj Koothrappali. This character was unable to speak in front of a woman, or to a woman directly for many seasons. Even Penny, whom he saw almost every day - he still could not speak a word. The only way he was able to do so is if he had a drink. This, of course, made dating very difficult for him. It wasn’t until one evening where Penny was comforting him that he was able to open up.

Question 2

“Let me take this opportunity to point out that you are looking particularly ravishing today.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Let me take this opportunity to point out that you are looking particularly ravishing today.” This is an example of another quotation that is said in the earlier seasons of the show. To get a little context behind this particular statement, it is quite clearly directed towards Penny, who was the only girl in the group for a long time. Both Amy and Bernadette weren’t introduced to the show until Season Three, and even then they were considered minor or supporting characters for many episodes. Penny, although she had a completely different lifestyle, was the first girl accepted into the group.

Question 3

“Sheldon, what did we say about being a nicer friend?”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Sheldon, what did we say about being a nicer friend?” This quotation can be classified as being humorous not because of the fact of the assumptions behind it, but because of how often this topic is brought up throughout the series. In the first few seasons of the show, Sheldon is depicted as being an antagonist at times because of his behavior and personality. He was notorious for belittling his friends, claiming that he was superior in the field of science, and all other aspects of life. Although everyone put up with him for the most part, there were times when the friends would have a falling out.

Question 4

“Okay, just to be clear, roller skating was my idea, and I’m very unhappy that you turned it into a double date.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Okay, just to be clear, roller skating was my idea, and I’m very unhappy that you turned it into a double date.” This is quite obviously another quotation that is intended to come off as humorous. There aren’t many times in which the group actively goes out roller skating, especially as a double date. In Season Three, however, two of the guys decide to take their girlfriend out for a fun night at this new roller skating location. Of course, what the funniest part is about the four’s return home, where the girls have less enthused faces because of how the night actually turned out.

Question 5

“There goes our shot at him living on the roof.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “There goes our shot at him living on the roof.” This context was definitely a running gag on the show for many seasons. To get a little information behind the statement, it is referring to Sheldon, and him living anywhere but their apartment. When Leonard and Penny started to get serious in their on-again, off-again relationship, there was a discussion of them moving in together. However, Sheldon’s personality meant he had become accustomed to Leonard being with him, which made Leonard and Penny having privacy all the more difficult. There was a point he even ran away because of all the change happening in his life.

Question 6

“As my mom used to say, ‘When you’re doing a puzzle, it’s like you’ve got a thousand friends’.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “As my mom used to say, ‘When you’re doing a puzzle, it’s like you’ve got a thousand friends’.” This quotation is quite relevant to a majority of the characters, for they all grew up sort of as outsiders, or without friends. This is brought up numerous times with characters such as Sheldon, Howard, Leonard, and Amy. For the most part, their childhoods consisted of entertaining themselves because of their lack of social skills, or because they lived in the shadow of an older relative. Other characters such as Raj had a more privileged childhood per-say but eventually grew up to be a geek as well.

Question 7

“I’m not crazy, my mother had me tested.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “I’m not crazy, my mother had me tested.” This is a shorter quotation than some of the others featured in this quiz. It is also another example of a statement that can more or less be related to a number of characters on the show. For example, the four main male characters all have their own personal problems that had stemmed from their childhood. For example, Sheldon’s lack of social skills as an adult was because he wasn’t sure how to interact with his peers. Leonard was raised in an environment lacking maternal affection, which affected his relationship with women as an adult.

Question 8

“Once when all the knives were dirty, you cut a bagel with your keys.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Once when all the knives were dirty, you cut a bagel with your keys.” This is a rather humorous quotation not based off of the actual statement but because of the inclination behind it. One of the repeating elements on the show The Big Bang Theory is the fact that for many of the beginning seasons the main characters only ordered take out. It never failed, the four guys and Penny would sit around in the living room eating something they’ve ordered. It isn’t until the later seasons when Bernadette and Amy are introduced that the guys have actual proper, home-cooked meals.

Question 9

“Sheldon knows football? I mean Quidditch, sure, but football?"

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Sheldon knows football? I mean Quidditch, sure, but football?”. This is another example of a humorous quotation not just because of its ‘one-liner effect’ but because it is kind of a bash against Sheldon. The four guys are characterized from the very beginning as being nerdy and geeky. Of course, one of the characteristics that come with this is the fact that they’re not very athletic. There are numerous episodes in which this is apparent; for example, Leonard’s inability to run up a flight of stairs without needing his inhaler, or Howard being unable to pitch the baseball at the opener game.

Question 10

“People get things they don’t deserve all the time. Like me with you.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “People get things they don’t deserve all the time. Like me with you.” This quotation is both an example of someone being bitter as well as sarcastic. Being that it is a sitcom television series, there are many instances in which the characters offer snide remarks or comments to the others in the group. In fact, all of the characters have been known to have this trait from time to time, unlike other comedy series where this attitude normally falls to one person. Although the comments are more or less harmless, this one, in particular, has a little bit of truth behind it.

Question 11

“Isn’t this where he says ‘bazooka’ or something?”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Isn’t this where he says ‘bazooka’ or something?” This particular quotation is humorous because of its inaccuracy. In the earlier seasons of the show, Sheldon would very rarely say something sarcastic to one of the members of the group. This was likely due to the fact that he was unable to pick up on sarcasm in a conversation himself, so the concept, in general, was unknown to him. However, when he did say something that was false, he would say “Bazinga” as a way to say “Ah Ha!” to whomever he was speaking to.

Question 12

“Do you have any idea what it’s like to be the only one without a girlfriend?”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Do you have any idea what it’s like to be the only one without a girlfriend?” Relationships are a big part of the show The Big Bang Theory, especially in the more recent series where most of the main characters are now married. However, in the first few seasons, Leonard was really the only one who was having long-term relationships (where he had an on-again, off-again relationship with Penny). It wasn’t until season three and onward that the other guys started to find romance in their lives. For example, Howard and Bernadette were the first of the group to be married.

Question 13

“I promised myself if I ever got friends I’d do whatever they said.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “I promised myself if I ever got friends I’d do whatever they said.” This is another quotation which is similar to one mentioned earlier in this quiz. As mentioned then, most of the main characters on the show all have similar childhoods in which they didn’t have many friends. Additionally, this loneliness had also carried into their teens and adulthood. Penny is quite obviously one of the only ones of the group who was popular in high school and had many friends, although she didn’t seem to be in connection with any of them when she moved to California.

Question 14

“There’s no denying that I have feelings for you that can’t be explained in any other way.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “There’s no denying that I have feelings for you that can’t be explained in any other way.” Here is another quotation this involves the relationship aspect present in the show. As discussed earlier, Leonard was for the first couple of seasons the one who was in the most relationships. Of course, Howard has brief flings, as did Raj, but it was Leonard’s relationship with Penny that was put in the spotlight the most. The other main characters eventually seek out serious relationships, although for some it was much more difficult to admit their romantic feelings than it was for others.

Question 15

“Go ahead. Eat it. I dare you.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “go ahead. Eat it. I dare you.” This is one of the shorter quotations featured in this quiz. As it is quite obvious, this statement is said mostly out of anger. As it was mentioned previously, The Big Bang Theory is a comedy television series, so most of what happens is done in a humorous way. While this statement is clearly funny because of its sarcasm, the character who said it definitely was upset with the person they were speaking to. This doesn’t happen a lot because for the most part, the characters do all get along with each other.

Question 16

“Raj, there’s no place for truth on the internet.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Raj, there’s no place for truth on the internet.” This quotation is among the many in this quiz that is meant to be lighthearted. Raj is characterized as being a bit of an anti-social butterfly not by choice, but because of his inability to speak to women face-to-face. This was a big challenge for him in the first few seasons because of Penny joining their group, and she was over at Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment. However, it was Penny who helped him overcome his issues. Even though he was able to speak to women, he still struggled with keeping a relationship.

Question 17

“This is why I had to rewrite our wedding vows.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “This is why I had to rewrite our wedding vows.” This is another quotation which relates to the relationship theme ever-present on the show. To be a little bit more specific, it pertains to those who are married to each other, which, by the most recent season three of the couples are married and the last remaining main character is engaged to be married. At the beginning of the series, all four of the guys never saw themselves getting married - at least not any time soon. However, each of them found the perfect woman in their life who changed the game for them.

Question 18

“Our babies will be smart and beautiful.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Our babies will be smart and beautiful.” This is another quotation that also is a reference to the relationships on the show, however instead of being about the main characters themselves, it’s about their future children. The only couple on the show that has children is Bernadette and Howard, both of which were unexpected but are happy additions to their family nonetheless. Regardless of them being the only married couple with children, each of the other couples has had the discussion about their potential children in the future. However, not all of them are on the same page about it.

Question 19

“Dude, the fourth Harry Potter movie was just fine.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Dude, the fourth Harry Potter movie was just fine.” The show is filled with so many media and cultural references, it's hard to keep track of all of them. Being that it’s primarily a geek-filled series, the most entertainment and franchise references come from comic books such as Marvel and DC, movies like Star Wars or shows like Game of Thrones, and of course, Harry Potter has also come up a number of times. In one particular episode, Leonard had decided to read the books and declares them to be “great,” only to be left disappointed when Sheldon tells him a major spoiler.

Question 20

“Hey, you can tell me what to do and how to do it, but not both at the same time.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Hey, you can tell me what to do and how to do it, but not both at the same time.” This quotation is another that is intended to be humorous, like many others featured in this quiz. It is said by one of the main male characters to his significant other. One of the things that all of the wives have in common with each other is they have a tendency to tell their husbands what to do. Primarily this is because the guys do have a tendency to fall off the rails, such as when Howard bought a 3D Printer that was really expensive.

Question 21

“‘Not knowing is part of the fun.’ Was that the motto of your community college?”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “‘Not knowing is part of the fun.’ Was that the motto of your community college?” This is a quotation that is quite clearly intended to be snarky. Now, being that a majority of the main characters are all highly intelligent, it shouldn’t be that difficult to determine who is being addressed to in this statement. To be fair, Penny is smart in other ways other than science like the rest of the group - it is as she often says: “she has street smarts.” For the most part, the group doesn’t really comment on her lack of education in her presence.

Question 22

“Sometimes your movements are so lifelike I forget you’re not a real boy.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Sometimes your movements are so lifelike I forget you’re not a real boy.” This is another quotation this is snarky and sarcastic, but for the most part, it is perceived as being humorous. This is also another statement in which it isn’t difficult to figure out who is being addressed because there are many comments such as this one made throughout the series. This comment is clearly made towards Sheldon, who, in the earlier seasons of the show lacked acceptable social skills. He was always unkind to the group, especially Leonard, with his extensive roommate agreement that only seemed to benefit him.

Question 23

“Why don’t you tell me what happened, and in a gentle loving way, I’ll explain to you why you’re wrong.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Why don’t you tell me what happened, and in a gentle loving way, I’ll explain to you why you’re wrong.” This is yet another example of a relationship quotation. Similar to the one mentioned before, this is an example of one of the female main character’s demonstrating their “control” over their husbands. It happens quite frequently when one of the girls attempts to correct their parent’s behavior, and for the most part, it is for a good reason. For example, Amy’s notorious for reminding Sheldon on proper social behavior when he does something wrong.

Question 24

“You know those girls text me every detail of their lives as it happens.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “You know those girls text me every detail of their lives as it happens.” This is a quotation which relates to the friendships on the show, which is another very important theme. Although the group is made up mostly of relationships, they are still very close friends, some might even say they’re practically family now. Before they all got into serious relationships, with marriage and kids, there was a time when it was just the five friends. When Amy and Bernadette came into the picture, it was a nice relief for Penny to have some much-needed girl time.

Question 25

“Excuse me but I don’t think Penny is out of line at all.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Excuse me but I don’t think Penny is out of line at all.” This is another quotation which makes a reference to one of the relationships on the show, however, is much more specific. The three core relationships featured on the show include Penny and Leonard, Amy and Sheldon, and Howard and Bernadette. In the most recent season, Raj is seen developing a relationship with a woman named Anu. This quotation is quite clearly addressing Penny. To get a little bit more context, it is about her wanting to take a job with an ex-boyfriend.

Question 26

“Maybe ‘Thor’s Hammer’ is a new color of nail polish.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Maybe ‘Thor’s Hammer’ is a new color of nail polish. As it was mentioned previously in this quiz, the show makes a lot of references to films and television series. For example, the group is seen watching Game of Thrones, Indiana Jones, and even Star Wars. One of the biggest references on the show, however, is without a doubt comics. It is one of their most frequent hangout locations apart from each other’s apartments. Luckily their friendship with the owner has some perks when it comes to getting their hands on the latest comics.

Question 27

“Every one of you has the capacity to be anything you want to be.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Every one of you has the capacity to be anything you want to be.” This is a quotation that might be more difficult to place than some of the others found in this quiz. That is primarily due to the fact that it isn’t one of the frequent or recurring sayings. However, to get a little context behind this particular quotation, some of the characters had been selected to give a speech to a bunch of students at a school, hoping to get girls more interested in the sciences. When their attempts proved to be ineffective, they called in a favor with one of the female characters.

Question 28

“She’s like the dryer sheet of my heart!”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “She’s like the dryer sheet of my heart!” This is yet another quotation that relates to the relationships present on the show. What is unique about this particular statement is, of course, the peculiarity behind the words, however, they’re meant to be sincere. What the character really meant was that the woman he was once in a relationship with had a tendency to soften his life, thus the reference. To get a little hint towards who might’ve said this, the characters had split up because their relationship was too much of a strain on her to continue.

Question 29

“It smells pretty ripe in here. You kinda feel it in your eyes.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “It smells pretty ripe in here. You kinda feel it in your eyes.” This is another quotation that might be a little harder to place, however, for those who are Big Bang Theory fans it shouldn’t be difficult to picture the voice. This is said when one of the characters is feeling particularly sorry for themselves because of an unfortunate incident with a date. This character is left discouraged with all future relationships, thus decides to lock themselves inside where they never have to face a similar fate again. This, of course, leads to a stinky apartment.

Question 30

“He’s paranoid and he has established a nest.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “He’s paranoid and he has established a nest.” This quotation is from one of the earlier seasons and is referring to none other than Sheldon Cooper. As it has been mentioned previously in this quiz, Sheldon was a completely different person in those seasons than he is in the most recent ones. Before he had a bit of an intolerable attitude, especially towards those he called his friends. He was a man who only cared about excelling in his field of work, and oftentimes neglected to behave normally. This often led to his friends avoiding him when they saw he was going to spiral.

Question 31

“I already live in a place all the nerds come to.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “I already live in a place all the nerds come to.” This is yet another quotation that is a reference to the nerd and geeky nature of the show. This is a major element to the show being that a majority of the main characters are scientists who have a particular interest in somewhat childish things. In fact, the four main guys are quite nerdy that they even had specific nights dedicated to playing video games such as Halo, or would go out and fly kites against each other. Once, they all pitched in a bought a life-size time machine replica that blocked the apartment stairwell.

Question 32

“I haven’t cried this hard since Toy Story 3.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “I haven’t cried that hard since Toy Story 3.” Here is yet another example of a reference to a popular film franchise. As mentioned previously, there are many examples of this kind of reference seen within the series, even from the very beginning. One of the more recent mentions of a movie/television show was the Game of Thrones night where the group becomes divided because of a disagreement between Leonard, Penny, and Sheldon. Toy Story is actually mentioned more than once, a major one being Penny used the lines from the movie as her wedding vow.

Question 33

“You know like in Star Trek and you’re in battle, and you raise the shields.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “You know like in Star Trek and you’re in battle, and you raise the shields.” Again, here is yet another mention of one of the many shows, series, and/or franchises heard within the show. Star Trek is definitely one of the bigger ones mentioned, primarily with the guys and more specifically Sheldon. All throughout the seasons, Sheldon has expressed his love for the franchise - the original of course, which starred Leonard Nimoy. One time Penny gifted him a napkin signed from him and he was so ecstatic that he gave her a hug as a present.

Question 34

“Sheldon, if you were a robot and I knew and you didn’t, would you want me to tell you?”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Sheldon, if you were a robot and I knew and you didn’t, would you want me to tell you?” Here is yet another example of a quotation where Sheldon is referred to being a robot of some sorts. This was actually quite common in the earlier seasons from most of the group, including Penny from time to time. To be fair, Sheldon’s behavior back then was quite absurd, and it is not far fetched to consider him a robot. His disinterest in women and relationships was often the root of many jokes between the group.

Question 35

“I would have been here sooner but the bus kept stopping for other people to get on it.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “I would have been here sooner but the bus kept stopping for other people to get on it.” This is a more random quotation that can be found within this quiz. Transportation is, however, a common theme found in the show. One of the ways that it is brought up is with the fact that for many, many seasons Sheldon was without a driver’s license. As a result, that made Leonard his primary mode of transportation, and he was forced to drive him around everywhere. To and from work, to the dentist, and even to the train store.

Question 36

“I’m not the kind of guy who drops his friends because he’s in a relationship.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “I’m not the kind of guy who drops his friends because he’s in a relationship.” This is yet another quotation that refers to the many relationships featured on the show. In this case, though, the relationship that is being mentioned is sort of being perceived as negative. There are surprisingly many instances on the show in which the relationships and romance stand in the way of friendship, or at least cause friction in some way. One of the biggest examples of this is when Leonard dated Raj’s sister, which he heavily disapproved of.

Question 37

“Great. Not only are you more successful than me. Now you’re more mature.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Great. Not only are you more successful than me. Now you’re more mature.” Maturity and success are also quite big themes featured on the show TBBT. This is because of the main character’s occupations as well as their level of maturity which is often questioned because of their love of childish things. For example, their comic book obsession. The girls often wonder why they love these things so much when they’re supposed to be ready for children. At one point they decide to read one of their own to see what all the fuss was about.

Question 38

“If you don’t know how to make lasagna, Google does.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “If you don’t know how to make lasagna, Google does.” One of the recurring elements on the show is the fact that the group is known to come together and order take out (or at least go pick up take out themselves) and sit in the living room and eat. Now, for the most part, this took place in Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment, but in more recent seasons they’ve also gone over to Bernadette and Howard’s house likely due to space. One thing they don’t do often is cook food for themselves. Only Amy and Bernadette can be seen cooking throughout the seasons.

Question 39

“Don’t you dare knock!”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Don’t you dare knock!” This is another quotation featured in this quiz that is on the shorter length. However, there is no surprise to which this statement was addressed to. Along with his phrase “Bazinga!,” Sheldon also has a staple action which consists of having to knock three times on the door. He does this to everyone - although Penny definitely gets it the most throughout the series seeing that she lives right across the hall from Sheldon. However, he’s even seen doing this at work when he knocks on the door of his coworkers.

Question 40

“Why are you being so quiet? You upset or are you just rebooting?”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Why are you being so quiet? You upset or are you just rebooting?” This is yet another example of the many times in which Sheldon’s friends had referred of him as a robot of some kind. It stopped becoming a joke between the group when he started his relationship with Amy because being with her definitely changed him. She influenced the way in which he interacted with his friends and strangers so that he actually became “likable” and/or a functioning member of society. It was Amy after all who taught him to love even though he never thought he could.

Question 41

“I’m odd all the time, everyone knows that.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “I’m odd all the time, everyone knows that.” This is an example of a quotation that can be related to any of the main characters because they all have quirks in their own unique ways. For example, Sheldon has definitely been called the weirdest of the group on many occasions because of his robot-like personality. Even the way he smiled one time scared Howard. Speaking of Howard, some of his weird quirks or habits included wearing unusual belt buckles and often performing magic even though it was often unwanted. The only seemingly normal one is of course Penny.

Question 42

“In difficult moments like this, I often turn to a force greater than myself.”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “In difficult moments like this, I often turn to a force greater than myself.” This is a unique quotation because although it has certain inclinations, it actually takes a wild turn. There aren’t many times in which this sort of subject matter is discussed on the show, except for in the case of the characters and their family’s beliefs. For example, Howard and Bernadette were concerned about their relationship in the beginning because the two of them were raised quite differently and they were afraid it would cause conflict. Belief is often brought up as well whenever Sheldon’s mother was in town.

Question 43

“What are you doing? He’s both happy and quiet. It’s like seeing a unicorn and big foot at the same time.

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “What are you doing? He’s both happy and quiet. It’s like seeing a unicorn and bigfoot at the same time.” This is another example that is a reference towards Sheldon’s behavior. As it was mentioned previously, Sheldon was notorious for constantly annoying the main characters because of his lack of social grace. He would demand things of his friends, such as forcing Leonard to drive him places or make things more difficult than it needed to be. For example, one time when Howard was preoccupied, Sheldon was concerned with their food order because they usually ate for four.

Question 44

“I’m nice to everyone!”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “I’m nice to everyone!” This is yet another quotation which is on the shorter side. It is also one that would be more difficult to place because there aren’t many hints to who would say this and why. To get a little context behind this particular statement, one of the character’s is flustered because of something they learned. Of course, the situation had, unfortunately, become awkward because there were mixed signals in which another character believed there might have been something happening between them. This character had no choice but to explain that their behavior was not intentional.

Question 45

“Did Sheldon change the Wi-Fi password again?”

This The Big Bang Theory quote is: “Did Sheldon change the Wi-Fi password again?” This quotation is, of course, humorous because of the fact that Sheldon would be petty enough to do something like this. Again, as it was mentioned previously in this quiz, the characters are all good friends that they’re practically family. Of course, with family, there are always going to be the odd bickering and fight between people. This often occurred between Leonard and Sheldon primarily because Sheldon was a difficult person to live with, and they also had to see each other at work as well.
