Who Said It? Ted Mosby Or Ross Geller?

Ted Mosby and Ross Geller might be very different people, but their personalities do vibe quite nicely together. In truth, every sitcom needs a morose character who is obsessed with love, and not to mention pinning over a beautiful woman in their friend group. Ted fell for Robin the second he laid eyes on her, and the same can be said about Ross and Rachel. Although it might have taken Rachel some time to see Ross in a new light, he eventually got the girl of his dreams, and so did Ted!

There are many similarities between the classic sitcom Friends and HIMYM. Both these shows follow a group of friends as they try to grasp new vocations and relationships while letting go of old ones. Heartaches, good times, and tender moments are plentiful, making it easy to become engrossed with everything these sitcoms have to offer. Although their group dynamics may differ, it's easy to see that Ted and Ross are two birds of a feather. However, we could probably all agree that Ted is much more lovable than Ross, and how could he not be? After all, he is the star of the show. So, who's ready to find out if they can set Ross and Ted apart?

Question 1

"People make fun of the guy who stays home every night doing nothing, but the truth is that guy is a genius."

This quote hits home for many of us, which is why we can't help but agree with it. When you're a teenager or a young adult, going out with friends on a Friday and Saturday night are a given. In fact, staying home is the last thing you want to do. But, after a certain age, things take a drastic turn and one day, you look in the mirror and hardly recognize yourself. Eventually, we all prefer staying home in our onesies with a warm burrito in one hand and the remote control in the other. Sounds pretty nice, right?

Question 2

"My marriage, I think my marriage is kind of over."

Getting married is a huge step, but most of the time we make sure that we're more than ready to say, "I do." Ross and Ted have been obsessed with the idea of finding their one true love since they were little kids. But unfortunately, life had others plans for them. Ross has said the wrong name at the alter, and Ted has been stood up on his wedding day. All in all, both these predicaments are pretty brutal, which is why we wouldn't wish them on anybody. So, was it Ross or Ted who opened up about their marriage going sour?

Question 3

"PIVOT!"

At some point in our lives, we will be faced with some pretty tough decisions - one of them being pick-up or delivery. Most of us do not buy our own couch until we reach our late twenties. This is because our family members are more than happy to give us their old sofas when we first move out of the house. But, there comes a day when we want to furnish our apartments with items that we actually enjoy. During an episode of Friends or How I Met Your Mother, one of our favorite characters bought a couch and didn't want to pay for delivery.

Question 4

"I think for the most part if you're really honest with yourself about what you want out of life, life gives it to you."

Both Ross and Ted like to pretend that they are virtuous, which is why they often give their friends advice that they can't abide to. In the end, however, most of us do this too, so let's cut these two characters some slack. This quote has some genuine properties, which is why many of us can't help but agree with it. For the most part, people who are not honest with themselves will have a hard time getting what they want out of life. But, once they embrace who they truly are, things might start falling into place right before their eyes.

Question 5

"I'm the holiday armadillo."

Finding a costume for Halloween can be a little tough, which is why many of us end up wearing old clothes, rolling around on the earth, and spattering our faces with red colored goo. Doing this is a cop-out. But, it does give birth to a very convincing looking zombie. Ross and Ted have both struggled to find something to wear on Halloween, but they usually pull through quite nicely. So, if it's hard to suit-up on Halloween night, it must be even more difficult to find a costume on Thanksgiving day. Do you know if it was Ted or Ross who dressed up as an armadillo?

Question 6

"Some couples always support each other, and some couples always challenge each other. But is one really better than the other? Yes. Support is better. Way better."

Both Ted and Ross have learned the hard way that supporting their partner's needs and vocations is of utmost importance. Being in a relationship with someone who does not motivate and support you to do whatever your heart desires is a clear indication that they do not want the best for you - they want the best for them. When Rachel's new job started demanding more of her time, Ross reacted with anger and sadness, which wasn't ideal. Challenging her love for him ended up backfiring on him. So much so, that the awesome couple had to call it quits for seasons on end.

Question 7

"If you didn't eat fast, you didn't eat!"

Some people grow up in wealthy households, which prevents them from going hungry and lacking some fundamental necessities. While the same can't be said for everyone, we can all agree that every single member of the Friends and How I Met Your Mother group grew up in stable homes where food was plentiful. So, how could it be that Ross or Ted could utter such words? Right now, we're trying to remember whether or not Ross and Ted chomp down on their meals without taking a breather. But, we can't imagine them eating like animals. We can imagine Joey eating like one though!

Question 8

"When you're in a new relationship and you're competing with your ex for who's happier, it can get ugly."

Breakups are hard for everyone, which is why we can't really label anyone a winner or a loser. Still, this never stops people from trying to compete with their ex-lovers. Finding out that someone you used to love has moved on to someone new is never a fun time. But, neither is dating someone you don't really like just to get even. This quote speaks volumes, and teaches us that competing against your ex to prove that you're happy automatically makes you the unhappy one. Learning to let people go is never easy, but minding your own business might help things run their course.

Question 9

"I'm sorry, when I'm excited I abbreviate words I shouldn't."

Ross and Ted speak in very different tones, and we're happy that they do because Ross' voice can be super-duper irritating. When Ross speaks, he makes sure to pronounce every single syllable, and even pauses between words to round-up the room. But, there have been times when Ross got so excited that his speech took a hit. When it comes to speaking in a particular fashion, Ted isn't exactly innocent either, which is what makes this quote so difficult to decipher. Who could have said it? Was it Ted or Ross? In the end, only the biggest fans will know the truth.

Question 10

"Ah. Humor based on my pain."

Are your friends even your friends if they can't crack a joke when your life is crumbling before your eyes? No, the answer is definitely no. If there's one thing we all love about our closest buddies, it's their ability to make us laugh out loud when we're dedicated to feeling sorry for ourselves. And, what better way to do this than to find humor in our pain? Some jokes can sound a little crude, but in the end, comedy is a necessity. Being able to laugh when things are dark allows us to heal quickly. So, who said this quote?

Question 11

"Because sometimes even if you know how something's gonna end that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the ride."

If you were able to see the future, would you prevent yourself from feeling raw emotions whenever they came your way? Well, probably not because feeling pain is a means of growth, and if you don't grow, you fall behind. The relationships we get into help us figure things out. And although some of them might not have a happy ending, it doesn't mean that the entire relationship shouldn't have happened in the first place. So, despite the fact that Ted or Ross knew that their relationship was coming to an end, that never stopped them from enjoying it while it lasted.

Question 12

"I don't want to get over her... I want to be with her."

Falling in love with someone happens quickly and without warning, which is why many of us get caught off guard by our own emotions. Both Ross and Ted fell in love with amazing women who they eventually ended up with, but the road they took to get there was filled with sorrow and regret. Although they did feel some emotions that hurt them in the long run, it also turned them into the person their lover needed them to be. Being forced to get over someone is never easy, but hey, we've all been there at some point or another, right?

Question 13

"Shouldn't we hold out for the person who doesn't just tolerate our little quirks but actually kinda likes them?"

We all have habits; some of them are adorable, and some of them are downright annoying. Whether you bite your nails, twirl your hair, crack your knuckles, or hum silly tunes, those closest to you will accept your flaws and love you anyways. But, what happens when your partner accepts your little quirks but still manages to be annoyed by them? For some, this may be a deal breaker, and for others, your little quirks might warm their heart. So, the question is, if your quirks bother your partner, are you with the right person? So, who said this; Ross or Ted?

Question 14

"Oh my god...Does professor have one F or two?"

Finding the courage to stand in front of a classroom and teach snotty teenagers about a certain subject is pretty impressive. While some people dream of leading a class of young professionals, others have bad dreams about this and wake up screaming. Both Ross and Ted have taught classes before, and introducing themselves to their group proved to be more than a little intimidating. So, when one of them chose to write their name on the board, they completely blanked and started overthinking every little detail - like how the word professor was spelt. So, who did this happen to?

Question 15

"I tell you, when I actually pass away... Some people are gonna get seriously haunted."

There are many certainties in life, but some are spookier than others. Although Ross and Ted are loved by many people, they tend to underestimate their value more often than not. This can cause them to go to extreme lengths in order to get some self validation. Although this is something to be ashamed about, either Ross or Ted faked their own passing to see if anyone would show up. So, imagine their surprise when a beautiful woman came to the wake with tears streaming down her face. Unable to keep quiet and let her go, he revealed that he was actually alive.

Question 16

"She walks down the aisle. You say your vows, you go to the reception, you have your first dance. Before you know it, just like magic, you realize, it's a perfect fit."

Sure, women want to get married, but when it comes down to it, Ted and Ross are marriage's number one fans. This quote can go either way, because we can truly imagine these words coming out of either Ross' or Ted's mouths. So, while we'd love to throw you a bone, it looks like this might just be the hardest question that's going to come your way. So, tick tock. Who said it; Ross or Ted?

Question 17

"One...Two...Three! You have no idea how much this hurts."

There comes a time in everyone's life when they choose whether or not they want to become a parent. For some people, choice is not an option because let's be real - mistakes do happen. The one thing everyone should know by heart is that complaining about minor pain around a pregnant woman is not a good decision. This is something that one of our nerdy boys has had to learn first hand. Do you remember if it was Ross or Ted who spoke these words while in front of a woman who had just gone into labour? If so, go ahead and pick already!

Question 18

"Whether a gesture's charming or alarming, depends on how it's received."

This quote can be a little hard to understand when it is out of context. But, we're certain that real Friends and How I Met Your Mother fans will know who said these special words. But for now, we're going to give it some context so that you can at least understand what this quote really means. Going up to a girl in a bar and asking her if you can buy her a drink can be charming if she's into you and single, but it can be alarming if she's taken and spooked by your presence. It all depends on how the act is perceived.

Question 19

"I"M FINE!"

If there's one thing we should all know by now, it's that when people tell you that they're 'fine,' it usually means that they can use a two-minute hug. At some point in our life, we all go through our ups and downs, and sometimes, the downs last longer than the ups. But, a good thing to keep in mind is that things don't stay down forever. So, by default, good things are about to come. Both Ross and Ted have had their share of heartache, and they weren't exactly great at concealing their pain. So, who said these words out loud?

Question 20

"Why do bad things happen to good people?"

It is a universal rule that bad things happen to good people. However, good things happen to good people too. In the end, bad things happen to everyone, we just have to learn how to roll with the punches. Ross and Ted are good people who have done some pretty bad choices in the past. So, by default, they should receive some bad karma every once in a while. We all like to blame others when things go sour. But, there really isn't anyone to blame now is there? Life is just funny like that, so start laughing likes it's the funniest thing you've ever heard.

Question 21

"It's kind of crazy how much happened in just a day and a half."

Time is a tricky thing, which is why many of us don't like to think about the future - let alone the past! Both Ted and Ross have wished that they could turn back the hands of time, only to realize that some mistakes are supposed to happen. Years can go as planned, and then a matter of seconds can change the course of things, for good! All in all, the best thing that we can do is try to the right thing whenever the opportunity arises. Do you know if it was Ted or Ross who lost it over a stolen sandwich?

Question 23

"The littlest thing can cause a ripple effect that changes your life."

If there's one thing that Ted is good at, it's putting words together. This is why he did such a good job at telling his children about how he met their mother. Ross, on the other hand, isn't the best with words, but he has managed to piece together some pretty impressive sentences when in front of an auditorium full of colleagues. We can't help but think that this quote is one hundred percent true, which is why we're going to start paying attention to the little things. So, does this quote make more sense coming out of Ross' or Ted's mouth?

Being turned down is never easy, but it allows you to move on without having any regrets. Ross is known for keeping his emotions locked up until they come raging out of his ears. But Ted, Ted always speaks his mind. So, who said this?

Question 25

"We’re going to get older whether we like it or not, so the only question is whether we get on with our lives, or desperately cling to the past."

For as long as we can remember, Ted was in love with Robin. However, being with her was never easy, especially since they wanted very different things in life. After breaking up due to their differences, Ted had to watch his longtime crush get married to his good friend, Barney. Ross ruined the best relationship of his life by getting insecure, which caused him to look at the past instead of the future. So, who said this quote?

Question 26

"Nothing good happens after 2:00 am… when 2:00 am rolls around, just go home and go to sleep."

If there's one quote we all remember, it's this one right here. So, choosing the right character should be easy enough. However, some people watched Friends and How I Met Your Mother a long time ago, which might have caused them to forget about some of Ross and Ted's most famous quotes. Every single word in this sentence is true, and it's something that some people might benefit by living by. When bars start closing and tabs start being paid, it's usually a good indication that it's time to go home. But sometimes, going home is not an option. So, who said this?

Question 27

"We were on a break!"

Sometimes, being in a couple can be a little difficult, especially when one person starts acting needy and insecure out of nowhere. Although Ted has never had an unsuccessful marriage of his own, he does know what it's like to dream of getting married every single day. Ted came close to marrying a gorgeous woman and becoming a father figure to her young daughter. But, things didn't exactly go as planned. This never stopped him from dreaming of the girl he would one day marry though.

Question 29

"Oh my God. Did she get off the plane? Did she get off the plane?"

If there's one thing sitcoms love to do, it's showcase their main character chasing after the girl of their dreams in an airport. We mean, is a sitcom even a sitcom if there isn't an airport-love-revelation? When Robin or Rachel agrees to take a job abroad, Ross or Ted chases them to the airport only to realize that he's too late. He confesses his feelings and ends up getting turned down, which leads him to returning home with slumped shoulders and frown lines. But, just when he's about to accept the fact that he's lost the girl, she turns up at his doorstep.

Question 30

"There are a lot of little reasons why the big things in our lives happen."

Ross might be considered as a doctor, but he's no philosopher. Ted, on the other hand, is known for dropping words of wisdom wherever he goes. Life is a beautiful thing, and although bad things might happen every once in a while, there is so much more good in this world than there is darkness. This quote can mean a lot of things, but when taken out of context it's up for you to decide what it means to you. This quote is a lengthier version of, "everything happens for a reason." But, it does have a nice ring to it.

Question 31

"I wound up eating the whole pizza. I woke up all greasy and sweaty. My sheets looked like what they wrap deli sandwiches in. Maybe I should join a gym. Do you go to a gym?"

Being fit and strong and confident are all amazing things. But, do you know what's even better? Eating pizza in bed and ignoring your incoming calls. Although many of us would rather do this than anything else, eating pizza in bed is a luxury we can't all afford. The more you eat, the lazier you get. So, it goes without saying that living like a total slob will catch up to us in the long run. But, going cold turkey isn't the answer either. In the end, it's important to find balance in life. So, go to the gym and then eat pizza in bed.

Question 35

"Ah love. L.O.V.E, love. L is for life, and what is life without love?"

Whether you believe in soulmates or not makes little difference, as some people are meant to be together. Ross and Rachel are lobsters, which is why their claws met once again before the end of the series. And while Ted's soulmate might have been his wife, he was always destined to be with Robin. Life has a funny way of working itself out. But, before we get all sappy, let's take a stroll down memory lane. Do you remember when a leading man found out that his best friend was dating his ex-girlfriend? If so, you'll remember who said these words and what state they were in.

Question 36

"You can't cling to the past. Because no matter how tightly you hold on, it's already gone."

His world was finally coming together; he had a good job, good friends, and the woman of his dreams by his side. But, before he knew what was happening, he lost his girlfriend and had to learn the ropes again. Whoever said this quote must have gone through something extremely difficult, which can make picking the right answer a little easier. Do you know who said these words?

Question 37

"Unagi is a total state of awarness, only by achieving true unagi can you be prepared for any danger that may befall you."

During times of extreme grief, people turn to strange practices for help. Unagi might be one of them, but that's for us to know and for you to find out. Whoever said this quote was really feeling themselves in the moment, which is why they didn't see their friend's attack coming. If you're a real Friends and How I Met Your Mother fan, you'll be able to pick the right answer as soon as you read the word 'unagi.' So, are you going to pick it or not?

Question 38

"In order to determine whether we can know anything with certainty, we first have to doubt everything we know."

Once again, we're hit with a quote that can only have been written by a philosopher. But, somehow, it was spoken by either a paleontologist or an architect. Although both these fields of study require a lot of intellect, it takes a special someone to speak them out loud. But, we can probably all agree that this way of thinking is quite scientific. Ross and Ted might be different people, but their personalities are quite compatible. They both act in irrational ways when their pride is hurt, and they both love like there's no tomorrow. So, who said these magical words?

Question 39

"That sandwich was the only good thing in my life and someone ate it!"

Once again, sandwiches are the topic of discussion, but this time we have more information than we did before. Ted and Marshall went to college together and ended up being roommates. They quickly bonded and realized that they were going to be best friends for life. If there's one thing that helped them come together, it's sandwiches. However, they learned how to leave their addiction behind early on. Ross loves eating sandwiches, especially when he's feeling down in the dumps. So, was it Ted or Ross who got sent to anger management when someone ate their sandwich without asking first?

Question 40

"Once, I got dumped during ..."

There's nothing fun about getting dumped by someone you like, which is why people believe that there is a loser and a winner in every relationship. During an episode of Friends or How I Met Your Mother, the gang started talking about relationships and getting dumped by significant others. Everyone had some pretty bad stories, but Ross/Ted's story truly took the cake. They confessed to being dumped during the act, which is probably the most embarrassing thing that could ever happen to someone. Both Ted and Ross were nerds in college, so this could have happened to either one of them.

Question 41

"Sometimes, things need to fall apart to make way for better things."

We all go through some hard times, but having a good group of friends can help us cope. This quote explains that things aren't always going to go our way. But sometimes, things unfold to show the bigger picture at hand. Everyone feels like their world is over when something unexpected happens, but before we know it, things start to pick up again. If Ross and Rachel had never split up, they never would have dated new people and become the people they are today. And, the same goes for Ted and Robin. So, can you tell us who said this quote?

Question 42

"You can't force destiny. If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen."

Some people are destined to be with their soulmates, and others aren't. But when things are truly meant to be, they will find a way to manifest themselves. Ross and Rachel spent a lot of time dwelling over their past mistakes, only to realize that these incidents would bring them back together at a later point. If Ross had never stopped pursuing Rachel, she might have grown tired of his games and lost interest in him for good. So, he did his best to not force destiny, and ended up winning in the end. Was it Ted or Ross who said these words?

Question 43

"Stop cleansing my aura!"

We all have a friend who enjoys the spiritual realm, and while their visions can be hard to deal with at times, they usually mean well. Phoebe is someone who never fails to say and do surprising things. She's spiritual and aloof, and that's the way we like her. When it comes to Ted, however, it's safe to say that most of his friends are down-to-Earth. However, they tend to stay far away from auras, crystals, and tarot cards. So, knowing this, Ross seems like the obvious choice. But, some things aren't as they seem, which is why you should choose wisely.

Question 44

"Not knowing when to shut up? Yep, that's my thing."

Most people can be sarcastic at times, which is why anyone could have said this hilarious quote. When the going gets rough, it's hard to stand back and accept things for what they are. But, instead of shutting up and letting things run their course, many of us go out of our way to mess things up even more. Whoever said this quote knew that they were talking themselves into a deeper hole. The more a person says on a matter, the less value their words can have. So, who can tell us if it was Ted or Ross who said this line?

Question 45

"The great moments of your life won't necessarily be the things you do, they'll also be the things that happen to you."

Are we the only ones who feel like this quote is directed towards superheroes? We highly doubt it. Have any of you ever noticed that superheroes had a very troubled childhood? Most of them had to go through losing their parents and loved ones to become the saviors they are today. So, while these heroes are great because they help others, they are also great because of the things that happened to them. Without these unexpected moments, many of them would be regular people like the rest of us. So, which sitcom nerd said this special quote? Ross or Ted?

Question 46

"That was funny. Painfully funny. No, wait. Just painful."

At some point in life, we all become the butt of the joke - whether we like it or not. Barney and Chandler tend to make jokes at the expense of others, which is why their friends tend to ask others for advice instead of them. Ted and Ross are often made fun of for their strong emotions and poor decisions, which is why either one of them could have said these words. While Ted might have his moments, we can all agree that Ross is the one who enjoys a good dose os sarcasm. So, many of us would be lead to believe that he said these words. But, did he?

Question 47

"If you're not skeptical, you aren't taking a chance. If you are not taking a chance then what the hell are you doing anyway."

Life is about taking chances, which is something that many of us are wary of. Taking chances means putting yourself out there, and once you're out there, anything can happen. This quote hits home on many different levels, and it teaches us that we should always take a chance on something that can make us happy. If none of us felt this way, we would never get the things that we truly want. So, whoever said this quote had a lot of time to think about what it meant, which is why they chose to take chances despite the odds.

Question 48

"We should probably ask the doctor if she knows how to deliver a baby that's half human, half demon!"

Welcoming a baby into this word is no slice of cake, which is why many new parents crumble under the pressure just to pick themselves back up again. Doctors know a lot about how the body works, but they have little to say about the emotions that we encounter on a daily basis. Whoever said this quote was clearly upset, which is why they referred to the baby's mother as a demon. Although we never got to see Ted's wife during her pregnant period, we did see Lily get pregnant on more than on account. So, Ted could have been talking about her.

Question 49

"Meat on a dessert? That is not possible!"

Isn't baking fun? We think so, which is why many of us like to make sweets when the occasion arises. During a big event, a leading lady was asked to make a dessert. However, the original chef was certain that she was going to mess things up. So, imagine her great surprise when the dessert ended up having meat and onions on it. Following a recipe can be tough, especially when the cook book's pages get merged together creating a half tart, half shepherd's pie. In the end, the dessert was not well received, and there was nothing to be done about it.

Question 50

"That's the funny thing about destiny, it happens whether you plan it or not. It turns out that I was just too close to the puzzle to see the picture that was forming."

There are two types of people; those who roll with the punches and those who find cool quotes to help them get through hard times. Ross might be one to roll with the punches. But, every once in a while, he chooses to bite back. Ted, on the other hand, is all about the quotes. He enjoys reading poetry and talking about the way the universe works. In Ted's heart is a believer who is certain that true love will come his way. And Ross is more of a skeptic. Who said this quote and believed every word of it?
