Who Said It: Rachel From Friends Or Penny From The Big Bang Theory

We all know that Rachel and Penny are two of our favorite girls from TV. They both have it together but are a little bit on the silly side sometimes. Who can forget Penny's lovable optimism about breaking into acting, or Rachel's funny attempt at Thanksgiving dinner? The best thing about Rachel and Penny is that they seem to get the best lines in the whole series. Time and time again, they have hilarious comebacks or memorable one-liners that just makes us love them even more.

Rachel and Penny might be featured on different television shows- from completely different decades- but they have a few things in common- they are fierce, funny and two of the best cast and written female characters on any television show!

Everyone loves Rachel and Penny, but how well do we know them- specifically their character's most famous lines? This quiz takes some of the best Rachel and Penny-isms and gives everyone a chance to prove that they're a super fan of Friends and The Big Bang Theory by identifying which television leading lady said it! How well does everybody know Rachel and Penny? It's time to show off some serious television smarts! Let's get started.

Question 1

If anyone is ever rude to you: sneeze muffin.

Words to live by! Anyone who has ever worked in the food service industry knows that there's nothing like sneeze muffin to exact a little retribution onto a rude customer. Hey, it might not be the most hygienic option but nobody can argue with results. Both Penny and Rachel worked in the foodservice industry at one point or another in their lives- and both of them would certainly have tried out a "sneeze muffin" on someone if they deserved it.

Question 2

That’s a great story. Tell it while you’re getting me some iced tea.

Who hasn't had that one friend that insists on droning on and on with a story that we really don't care too much about while we're going through a personal crisis? It's not like we are not sympathetic- it's just that there's a lot going on with us at the moment. What's the best way to deal with a situation like this? Give that friend a little task to do while they're telling their story! Who said this iconic line?

Question 3

I’m an assistant buyer!

Sometimes a chance meeting at the Moondance Diner leads to so much more! When one of these leading ladies ran into someone by chance, they wound up offering her a job as an assistant buyer! So much winning. Maybe some of us have been in the position where we've been offered a great job just by being in the right place at the right time. For the rest of us, it is inevitably going to happen at some point- just like it did for this character.

Question 4

Okay, look, I know Amy's like an old lady, but she's not old enough to have a song from the '60s written about her.

There is no doubt that most of us have had that experience where we think that every song is written about someone we're crushing on. It's just an inevitable thing- music brings out the romantic in all of us. Sometimes we need our friends to bring us down to reality, as happened with this iconic line delivered by either Penny or Rachel. Nobody likes to douse the flames of romance, but sometimes it's gotta happen when we give our buddies a reality check.

Question 5

Oh, I’m sorry, did my back hurt your knife?

Who hasn't been in this situation? One of our friends accidentally- or in some cases- on purpose, does something that totally stabs us in the back! Sometimes we get mad and don't speak with them for a good long while- and other times we do what this leading lady did- and deliver a comeback so great that it goes down in the record books. Chances are, that friend will be more careful in the future. Who said this memorable line?

Question 6

Yeah, and I never wanted to kick Albert Einstein in the nuts.

We all have those adorably nerdy friends who like to fixate on famous people. Maybe it's our bestie/love interest who loves dinosaurs. Maybe it's the lovable scientists next door. Whoever it is, sometimes we need to give them a little reality check in the form of a comeback like this one- which talks about a rather... sensitive region of a famous scientist! Which leading lady got a little sick of the fanboy gushing of her friends and said this line?

Question 7

Actually, I've heard far too much about Schrodinger's cat.

When you date someone who is just a little bit on the nerdy side there's a chance that you could wind up having conversations about all sorts of stuff that maybe doesn't need to be discussed- like in the case of this leading lady who found herself talking way too much about Schrodinger's cat. She really couldn't care less about the state of the figurative cat in the box and made it clear in this quote. Did Penny or Rachel say it?

Question 8

If I have a heart attack at a restaurant, I want you there with your fossil brush.

There are plenty of different types of professionals in the world, including people who can rightfully call themselves "doctor". Having said that, there are also certain types of doctors that are arguably more useful than others in an emergency situation, as this character pointed out. Her clever rebuttal to the scientist/doctor certainly put him in his place a little bit. Who agrees? Also, who knows whether Penny or Rachel delivered this hilarious line that brought another character down a peg or two?

Question 9

What up, Shel-bot?

Both Penny and Rachel are famous for coming up with nicknames that stick. In the case of one of these characters, they came up with one for the ages- comparing one of their friends (pictured here) to a robot. Don't worry- the character in question totally didn't take offense to the nickname. In fact, he probably loved the fact that she thought of him as a little more robotic than human. Did Penny or Rachel come up with this nickname?

Question 10

I hope it’s still funny when you’re in hell

Sometimes there are things that are funny- and sometimes there are things that are funny in a way that makes us feel not so good afterward! We're only human and there's nothing wrong with snickering a little bit at situations that can seem a little off-base at times, as was the case when either Rachel or Penny delivered this hilarious rebuke to one of their friends. It was a good reminder that just because something is funny, doesn't make it right!

Question 11

When you’re sick, you do whatever you can to make yourself feel better.

Well isn't this the truth! There's nothing worse than feeling sick but it does happen to the very best of us. Once in a while, we come down with a cold that just knocks us off our feet and has us running for our comfy clothes! In the case of either Rachel or Penny, they decided to make the best of it by doing whatever they could to feel better after coming down with a case of the sniffles. Who said it?

Question 12

I love him, but if he's broken, let's not get a new one.

This is sage advice for anyone who has been in a romantic relationship! We have all dated those people that we really wanted to be great for us, but if things didn't turn out, we had to make a difficult decision. This applies not only to not only romantic relationships but also friendships as well! Both Penny and Rachel are tough women and they don't have a problem getting rid of toxic forces in their lives! Who said this quote?

Question 13

Greens do not quit!

This quote should be the statement of the century! All we need to do is swap out "Greens" for our own last names and it's a call to do our best and not quit no matter how tough things get. Penny and Rachel are known for giving their friends all of the support that they need during the toughest times, so it is no surprise that one of them rolled out this great quote to inspire themselves and their friends to succeed!

Question 14

I’m probably 98% happy and maybe 2% jealous.

We love Penny and Rachel because they are so relatable and real. This quote really cements that for us. Who hasn't been in a situation where they have had a ton of mixed feelings about something? It happens to the best of us- especially when we know that we should be happy for one of our friends but we can't help but feel a little bit sour about the whole thing. Who said this quote that really defines us all?

Question 15

You wanna turn yourself into some sort of robot?

Sometimes friends can have the most random conversations. Looking back on them it seems like some really silly topics have gotten covered- but there's also some real stuff in there too! We'll let everyone be the judge of whether or not this quote is silly or one of those real conversations that we have with our friends from time to time. Did Penny or Rachel say this to one of their best friends? Let us know the right answer below.

Question 16

Sing 'Soft Kitty' to me.

In either The Big Bang Theory or Friends there was one song that was used to soothe the characters when times got a little tough. That epic song was "Soft Kitty", a song for children that worked just as well with adults! It's okay to be vulnerable around our best friends and this character- either Penny or Rachel- did just that when she asked one of the other characters to sing "Soft Kitty" to her when she was not feeling well.

Question 17

If I can actually do my own laundry, there isn’t anything I can’t do.

Okay, so this is one of the greatest quotes of all time- and it totally sums up adult life in one perfect line! When we're kids, our parents generally do our laundry and it just materializes perfectly folded and clean in our rooms. In adulthood, the same really does not hold true! For this character, doing her own laundry was a real turning point that let her understand that she could do just about anything that she set her mind to.

Question 18

You know those girls text me every detail of their lives as it happens.

It's not such a big secret that girls talk... and we talk all of the time. There's really nothing lost between best friends- and in The Big Bang Theory as well as Friends, sharing gossip and giving advice is par for the course with the female participants of the show! Was it Penny or Rachel who disclosed to the male characters that women do indeed tell each other about every detail of their lives? Choose the correct answer from the two below.

Question 19

Yeah, well your Ken can kiss my Barbie.

Sometimes some of the best lines are also the silliest, as is the case with this classic line delivered by either Rachel or Penny. It was a totally silly moment and conversation between the characters that brought out this memorable little gem, but we laughed and remembered it long after it happened. Both Rachel and Penny are known for their one-liners, so prove who is a true fan by choosing the correct leading lady in the two options listed below.

Question 20

No Shoes, No Shirt, No Sheldon.

We are all familiar with the phrase "No shoes, no shirt, no service", but one of these leading ladies made it a little more personal by swapping out the "no service" part and instead including a little jab at her good friend Sheldon. The line is memorable because it's witty, simple and good-hearted. In this show, either Penny or Rachel are good friends with Sheldon so the line was in jest and totally out of love. Which one said it?

Question 21

I’m over you, and that my friend, is what you call closure.

Ross, pictured above, was the love interest of either Rachel or Penny throughout much of the series, and they certainly had their ups and downs. Who could forget the epic "We're on a break!" fiasco? As it turns out, one of these women was able to handle things like an adult by congratulating Ross on his cat (who she suggested he name 'Michael') and reiterating that she was happy for him. She also ended the call by telling him the meaning of closure. Classic.

Question 22

Thank you for being the emotional one in this relationship.

Sometimes in a relationship, the two people don't see eye to eye on every little thing. Sometimes- the people involved even have different ways of looking at the relationship, and totally different communication methods, as was the case for one of these leading ladies and her significant other. Usually, women are told that they are the "more emotional ones" in the relationship but this exchange between two main characters prove that men can also be the emotional ones! Who said it?

Question 23

I'm a vegetarian, except for fish, and the occasional steak. I LOVE steak!

We all have our different dietary habits and Rachel and Penny are no different. Who says that we have to fit into a little box just because? Some of us like to go the vegan route, whereas others are total carnivores. There are some, like one of our leading ladies, that identify as vegetarians who like to have a little fish or meat sometimes. Who knew? This is totally a legitimate food preference classification as far as we are concerned.

Question 24

It's a rough month when Halloween and PMS hit at the same time.

This statement is just too true! Of course, it's a rough month when it's Halloween and nature is playing that not fun monthly prank on us, and we can be forgiven if we decide to eat all of the candy for sure! Both Penny and Rachel were real women- and either of them could have made this hilarious comment, but only one of them did. Who knows specifically which one that was? Choose the correct answer from the two listed below.

Question 25

I just shouldn’t be allowed to make decisions anymore.

Who hasn't felt like this from time to time? We all like to think that we're totally capable of running our own show, but sometimes making all of the decisions can get just a little bit tiresome- as is the case with this leading lady! One too many poor decisions can make us feel like we need to hand off the reins to someone else for a little while. Who can relate? Better yet- who can tell us who said this quote?

Question 26

I got off the plane!

We all make some major romantic gestures for love (and if we don't, we absolutely should!) This leading lady realized that she had to jump off the plane in order to see her sweetheart and we couldn't agree with her decision more. The couple in question was one that we'd been rooting for since the show started. Was this romance on The Big Bang Theory or on Friends? Who knows the answer to this question? Give us the best guess below!

Question 27

At one point, they had me figure out how to get a banana out of a puzzle box.

This hilarious quote is one that certainly could be attributed to either Rachel or Penny- but as you've probably guessed, only one of them actually said it. We'd all like to think that we could get a banana out of a puzzle box, but it is probably a little more difficult than it actually seems. The old "banana in the puzzle box" trick was perpetrated by one of their friends and is a running gag throughout the episode. Who said it?

Question 28

Well, then, I guess that’s the difference between us. See, I’d never make a list.

In either Friends or The Big Bang Theory, there was a whole subplot that involved lists. While this might not seem all that exciting, it actually really was! Either Penny or Rachel was the subject of the list that her romantic interest made in order to figure out whether to date her or another girl. Yep- it's exactly as callous as it sounds, and one of our leading ladies definitely did not take too kindly to being itemized on a list!

Question 29

When I was 15 my dad bought me my own boat.

This character is famously and adorably out of touch with reality at least in the beginning of the series. Her privileged upbringing was a source of amusement for her friends, and they never stopped teasing her about it. It's hard to argue with them though- with statements like these. Fortunately, this leading lady learned how to make her way in the big city by meeting up with a great group of friends and finally figuring out how to do her own laundry.

Question 30

So basically you get your ya-yas from taking money from all of your friends?

We all have that one friend who is super competitive and doesn't let anyone else win. Whether it comes to games of chance, skill or even the silliest games imaginable, there's always that one person who really goes for it- even if it's a little over the top. Either Penny or Rachel had these words of wisdom that brought their friend back down to reality. Both of these ladies aren't known for mincing words, so who knows which one said this quote?

Question 31

Chandler wrote something about me on that paper. I want to see it!

It's always funny when friends try to hide things from their other friends- and by funny we mean super annoying! Chandler Bing is one of the central characters in either Friends or The Big Bang Theory, and he was known for his sarcasm, joking style and for making some not-so-subtle comments about the people in his friend group. Of course, both Penny and Rachel would want to see what was on that piece of paper- but only one of them said this quote!

Question 32

It’s like...all of my life, everyone has always told me: “You’re a shoe”!

This silly quote was actually a moment of reckoning for either Penny or Rachel. They realized that just because people had told them that they had to do one thing for their whole lives- that they didn't actually have to do it! It's okay to march to the beat of your own drum, after all! Nobody has to be a shoe who doesn't want to. We can be anything that we want. Who said this silly but really powerful statement?

Question 33

I’m gonna go get one of those job things.

Ah yes, the world of the employed! We all have to enter it at some point, and some of us do that sooner rather than later. Getting one of those "job things" is a real rite of passage for just about everyone and both Penny and Rachel had several "job things" during the course of their sitcoms. Still, only one of them had this famous quote. Who knows who it was? Choose the right answer from the two listed below.

Question 34

Whassup with Dr. Whackadoodle?

Neither Penny nor Rachel ever liked to mince any words, so this statement could have truly come from either of them! There were plenty of doctors to go around in both Friends and The Big Bang Theory, so Dr. Whackadoodle could have belonged to either show- although we are pretty sure that that's not his or her real name. Who wanted to know what was up with Dr. Whackadoodle? Was it Rachel or Penny? Tell us the right answer below.

Question 35

Geez Ross, you could have showered.

Finally, let's end with a quote that we all can relate to. No matter who our nearest and dearest are, there is always the chance that one or more of them has been in our presence smelling a little bit... ripe.... once in a while. Some people will just let that go, but not Rachel or Penny. They know when to call out something that just doesn't pass the smell test. The big question is, which one said this statement?
