Who Said It: Chuck Bass Or Jess Mariano?

In the world of television, there are some amazing characters - ones that make us laugh, that make us cry, that inspire us and that attract us - and two of those characters are Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl and Jess Mariano from Gilmore Girls. Not only are these two TV guys from similar shows (based around girls, drama, relationships and life), but they are pretty similar themselves, too!

They have that bad boy thing down, yet they are total sweethearts. They act like they are too cool for school, but they have a soft spot for dogs, books and/or brunette women. They have a James Dean vibe, as well as smarts. And they deliver line after line of pure gold.

And today, we are putting all of that to the test: Which one actually talked about their father? Who reminded us all what their signature accessory was? Who talks of eating, skipping and reading? And which romantic line belongs to which romantic man? On some of these, it will be easy to decide who said which quote. But for others, we understand if everyone gets the sarcasm, the wit and the bad boy-ness mixed up!

So tell us who said it: Jess or Chuck?

Question 1

For people like us, a college degree is just an accessory, like a Malawi baby or a poodle - Who said it?

“For people like us, a college degree is just an accessory, like a Malawi baby or a poodle.” To one of these dudes, college was just an accessory. It was not something they wanted or needed - like Blair and Rory - but it was something that it have made them look cooler. Yes, just like a baby or a bracelet or a pup or a purse, a college degree was just an accessory in this character’s opinion, but which one was it?

Question 2

“If two people are meant to be together, eventually, they'll find their way back.” How truly romantic! For people who believe that everything happens for a reason and kismet and all of that, here is a great love-oriented quote. Both of these characters, as fans know, could be super romantic, and both of them struggled in their love lives at times. However, one of them knew that he would find his way back to his love...but which one was it?

Question 3

“Tell her I gotta take another crack at that closet. I think I hung my Tool T-shirt next to my Metallica T-shirt, and they don't really get along.” Jess and Chuck both had very distinct styles and very different views on fashion, so this question should be an easy one! However, this could have been a joke. This could be a trick! The answer may not be the choice that seems like the obvious one here. So think carefully about who said this.

Question 4

Don't mock the scarf...It's my signature - Who said it?

“Don't mock the scarf...It's my signature.” On the other hand, there was fashion within this other realm, with a scarf instead of a rock-inspired shirt. Both guys were sensitive, and both lived in the Northeast, so that gives us at least two reasons that either of them could have been wearing a scarf at all, so that doesn’t really help at all...But who really said this: Was it Mr. Chuck Bass, or was it Mr. Jess Mariano? Take a pick!

Question 5

If a horse-drawn carriage shows up here, my throwing up will be eternal - Who said it?

“If a horse-drawn carriage shows up here, my throwing up will be eternal.” Even though both Jess and Chuck could be romantic, they liked to appear tough. They were tough! And they just needed people to know that, first and foremost, and realize that they were macho and strong and junk. Therefore, to one of them, the thought of a horse-drawn carriage was not cool. In fact, it was sickening. Who thought that? Who mentioned throwing up? And who actually said this?

So imagine this line about Stuart Little, and think about which man actually said these words.

Question 7

People like me don't write books, they're written about - Who said it?

“People like me don't write books, they're written about.” This one will be fun to decipher, since books were written in both Gilmore Girls and Gossip Girl! Think back to the context, and tell us who said this quote on their specific television series: Chuck or Jess.

Question 8

My mother told me never go through a lady's bag...at least, not until you're a couple blocks away. I'm just kidding, she never said that. Though it sounds like pretty good advice, doesn't it - Who said it?

“My mother told me never go through a lady's bag...at least, not until you're a couple blocks away. I'm just kidding, she never said that. Though it sounds like pretty good advice, doesn't it?” Here we go with that sarcasm again! Question 9

Most of all, I'm sorry I gave up on us when you never did - Who said it?

Question 10

I plan on holding on to my youth for as long as possible - Who said it?

So think about which one in particular probably planned on holding onto youth for as long as possible. Was it Mr. Mariano or Mr. Bass?

Question 11

We should have eaten before we came - Who said it?

“We should have eaten before we came.” Boys will be boys...and one of them (either Jess or maybe Chuck) could only think about food. And we can just imagine them only thinking about food during these moments! Which guy really said this, though, and which one regretted not eating before going to yet another activity?

And during one energized moment, either Jess or Chuck told either Rory or Blair that they truly belonged together...of course. But whom?

Which man made this confession, broke our hearts and said this exact line written right here?

Question 19

The only thing that has ever been real is me and you - Who said it?

“The only thing that has ever been real is me and you.” On a happier note and a similar note, imagine this: Imagine Jess telling Rory that she is the only real and true thing out there! Think of how dull your life would be without me - Who said it?

Question 24

I can't stand the thought of you with anyone else - Who said it?

Great, then we can hold hands and skip afterwards - Who said it?

There's a difference between a great love and the right love - Who said it?

And Chuck was seen in love more than once...but all along, they both knew the right love. So who said this romantic line?

Question 27

I don't need a daddy - Who said it?

Question 31

But you deserve your fairytale - Who said it?

"But you deserve your fairytale.” A fairy tale ending...Deep down, everyone wants one!
