Which Unforgettable TV Pet Should You Adopt?

To many people, the animals we keep as pets are better friends than any person could ever be. Be it a dog, cat, turtle, hamster, whatever; the right ones will always be there for us, waiting to play and cuddle when we get home. For this reason, whenever an animal appears as a regular character on a TV show, they can fast become the most popular character on the series simply by existing.

Unfortunately, the fact animals are quite unpredictable to say the least means that they can’t be the sole focus of a scripted program, unless it’s a cartoon or nature documentary. However, an amazing thing about animals appearing on sitcoms and other shows is how much personality they manage to have by simply sitting on the laps of people audiences care about. Some animals are so busting at the seams with character that viewers at home might wish they could own the adorable beasts for themselves.

The sad reality is that not only is it impossible for us to adopt our favorite TV pets, but we’ll probably never even get to meet them and have a game of catch. There’s always pretend, though, and there’s nothing’s stopping anybody from finding an animal that looks or acts like one on TV and giving it the same name in tribute. If that sounds like a plan to you, take our quiz to find our which unforgettable TV pet you should adopt.

Question 1

What kind of animal makes your favorite pet?

Question 2

What type of clothing do you wear?

Unless it’s really cold outside, or their owners are kinda jerks, animals generally don’t wear all that much clothing. Obviously, though, their owners still need to, and sometimes they might want an animal that matches their sensibilities. Does the way you dress relate to your love of animals?

Question 3

Do you already have animals?

The only thing better than adopting one pet is two, or three, or more. Well, as long as they get along, anyway, as the opposite can be horrible for all parties involved. Hopefully if you answer this question in the affirmative, your pets will be able to get along with potential newcomers.

Question 4

What’s your favorite style of music?

The scientific/veterinary jury is still somewhat out on the subject of whether or not most animals care about music. Sure, they hear it, and if it’s loud enough they’ll react, but it’s not like your cat has any favorite records to meow along with. Or maybe it does…

Question 5

What time of day are you at your peak?

Refusing to let humankind’s circadian rhythm run their lives, most animals are awake at all hours of the day. Of course, just like people, there are times they’re more active, aware, or playful than others. In ideal cases, humans and their pets will be at their best during the same time.

Question 6

Have you ever committed a crime?

Lacking the constraints placed upon society by the criminal justice system, animals don’t really have to worry about jail time when they do something questionable. Their owners are responsible, though, so if you want a dangerous dog, it might help to have experience dealing with cops.

Question 7

Do you consider yourself intelligent?

For better or worse, there’s currently no test potential pet owners need to take in order to prove they’ll take care of their animal intelligently or responsibly. Hell, some people might have pets way smarter than they could ever be. Is that the case with you?

Question 8

Could you survive in the wild?

Such is the nature of how humanity has domesticated our pets that most cats and dogs to live in a house could never go back into the wild and survive. Part of the reason is probably that none of their owners could ever succeed in nature left to their own devices, either.

Question 9

What’s your sense of humor?

Because animals are unable to convey their emotions or thoughts in any meaningful way, just about everything they do can be construed as funny in one way or another. Some animals are goofy, others are comically clever, and others still are just idiots we love laughing at.

Question 10

What’s your favorite color?

Believe it or not, for as bright and colorful as they make our lives, most animals are almost completely colorblind. For this reason, asking a question about the subject almost feels a little bit mean, but another way to look at it is that you’re your animal’s eyes on this one.

Question 11

Are you close with your family?

To most pet owners, adopting an animal is making their family a little bit larger. Cats and dogs might not sit at the dinner table, but plenty of them do get scraps, which as far as they’re concerned, might be even better. Does your family sit around a table where this could happen?

Question 12

What type of weather do you prefer?

Wearing thick coats of fur around their bodies, animals are far more conditioned for harsh weather than humans. There’s no need to change their apparel or style simply because nature demanded it, but they still might have preferences about general climates and temperatures. Do you?

Question 13

How much sleep do you get?

Thanks to the fact they don’t have jobs, appointments, or commitments of any kind, many animals have no problem whatsoever for sleeping 18+ hours per day. Of course, the other 6 hours are more active than anything humans accomplish, so maybe they need the rest. Do you?

Question 14

What type of diet do you keep?

Let’s face it—most animals out there will either eat or try to eat absolutely anything small enough to fit in their mouths. Hopefully, though, as a pet owner, you’ll be a little more discerning into what you throw down your pet’s gullet. If you’re health conscious already, it shouldn’t be too hard.

Question 15

What’s your favorite movie genre?

Question 17

Are you vain and conceited?

Question 18

Are you a hard worker?

Question 19

Do you get along well with others?

Question 21

Are you a fan of video games?

You gotta give animals some credit—they manage to do a whole lot without the use of opposable thumbs. Unfortunately, one thing they can’t do is play video games, so pet owners will simply have to do the gaming for them. Hey, at least they can watch you score 1,000,000 points.

Question 22

Are you outdoorsy?

Depending on how one chooses to travel, there’s a good chance the family dog isn’t going to be able to come along on the next big vacation. Even if they could come, dogs don’t have as much funs in airplanes as we do, so maybe they shouldn’t. That shouldn’t stop your trip, though.

Question 24

How often do you exercise?

Aside from sloths, turtles, and a few other similarly minding mammals, most animals are incredibly active creatures. In the wild, they can run in a straight line literally for miles with no goal in mind, a vestigial habit that makes life for some dog owners really tough—unless they’re in good shape, too.

Question 25

How many friends do you have?

If you’re lucky enough, adopting a new pet can be the exact same thing as meeting a new best friend. Of course, just like with humans, the mere fact you have a new animal ally doesn’t mean it’s time to forget about all your old buddies. How many people would you share your pet with?

Question 26

Do you consider yourself funny?

While dogs and cats can often make us laugh hysterically with their bizarre and inexplicable behaviors, the whole reason it’s so funny is that the animals themselves don’t realize they’re even putting on a show. Question 27

What’s your dream job?

Probably the best part about actually being an animal is that no matter what, you’ll never have to work a day in your life. Unfortunately, as mere pet owners, it’s our responsibility to keep working and fund our animal’s extravagantly lazy lifestyles. How would you prefer to do that?

Question 28

How much money do you have?

Question 29

What are you most afraid of?

Were you a good student in school?

With all due respect to the education system in general, it needs to be said that performance on standardized tests hardly says much about a person’s actual intelligence level. Question 31

Do you have any children?

Question 34

How’s your love life?

Dogs and cats are outrageously affectionate creatures, and for that reason, owning one can almost feel like a loving relationship similar to actually dating.
