Which Couple From The Office Are You?

Finding incredible comedy in the simplicity of every day life, The Office remains one of the most beloved TV shows in modern history more than four years after broadcasting its season finale. For as outrageously funny as The Office could be, though, the real reason it’s standing the test of time relates to the incredibly well developed characters and their powerful relationships with one another. On top of being ridiculously funny, The Office was in many respects a show about love and romance.

Whether you shipped Jim and Pam, Michael and Holly, or maybe even Phyllis and Bob, every fan of the show had a couple they supported and hoped would stick together forever. Unfortunately, in our real lives, a good number of us have experienced relationships that closer resemble Ryan and Kelly, Andy and Angela, or in the worst cases, even Michael and Jan.

The thing about those awful relationships is that the people in them never realized how bad they were for one another. This phenomena is hardly confined to fiction, as real people are in real terrible relationships all around the world without knowing it. Hopefully, you and your romantic partner go together like PB&J, but maybe discovering people look at you like the hosts of the worst dinner party TV has ever seen will make you reevaluate your life. Take our quiz and find out if that’s necessary by learning which couple from The Office is the closest to you and your partner.

Question 1

Are you married?

Across nine seasons on the air, The Office witnessed no less than five weddings, plus plans for a few more that ultimately got canceled. The show also saw a half dozen couples that didn’t get anywhere near that far. Have you tied the knot yet, or are you just dating?

Question 2

Do you live together?

Once upon a time, couples would never even consider living together before the wedding bells rang. Nowadays, that’s hardly the case, as people shack up for years and still never once consider making their union legally binding. Whether your married or not, do you and your couple share a roof?

Question 3

How often do you “get busy?”

It’s hardly the only part of a relationship that matters, but just about everyone agrees one of the best elements of being committed to a special someone is getting private alone time together. The Office never shied away from acknowledging their characters had fun together; do you?

Question 4

Do you like one another’s parents?

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter that much if you like the person your dating’s parents. In some cases, it could may be entirely possible that a shared hatred of your elders is what brought you together. Ideally, though, you would all get along and make one big happy family. Do you?

Question 5

Do you have any kids?

The Office gave viewers more than just a glimpse at its character life at work, also delving deep into their personal lives as the show progressed. This meant introducing a few adorable/annoying as hell youngsters in their children. Do you have any, or did the show scare you off the idea?

Question 6

How long did it take for someone to say “I love you?”

Some couples support the idea of love at first sight, getting married mere minutes after they meet one another—but enough about Las Vegas. While The Office’s characters usually had a little bit more restraint than that, some of them did start getting serious pretty quick. How long did it take you?

Question 7

How often do you argue?

Let’s face it—virtually every couple argues, and those that don’t usually have problems so deep-seeded it wouldn’t even help if they did. Hopefully, whatever squabbles you and your significant other have ultimately aren’t important. Even if that’s the case, though, them happening frequently is a bad sign.

Question 8

Where do you prefer to go on dates?

For a couple like Jim and Pam, a date can mean a trip to the fanciest restaurant in Scranton or simply a quiet lunch together in the break room. It’s nice that they’ve kept their love strong in the quietest places, but most real couples would rather go somewhere special.

Question 9

How much time do you spend with one another?

That the various couples on The Office need to spend their entire day together, from home to Dunder Mifflin and back, can easily be seen as either a positive or negative. If they’re happy, this is great, but if they have any problems, the lack of a break can be unbearable.

Question 10

Do you have any pets?

Between Dwight’s farm and Angela’s dozen or so cats, there’s no question which couple on The Office has the most animals in their care. In fact, those two might be the only pair of the bunch to actually have any pets at all. Do you and your partner?

Question 11

How often do you give one another gifts?

It’s all well and good to give someone a present on their birthday or a holiday, but couples with true passion for one another buck convention by showering one another with gifts at random. Of course, not doing so hardly means you’re less in love, but it might say something about your relationship.

Question 12

What kind of movies do you watch together?

Forget about fancy restaurants or candle lit dinners—all some of us want is someone to sit on the couch and watch The Office with. Then, after getting through all 201 episodes of the show for the fifth time, maybe you’d flip it over to your favorite Jack Black/Cloris Leachman romance film.

Question 13

Do you like each other’s friends?

For the relationships on The Office, the question of whether one partner liking the others’ friends doubled as one about how they felt about their own coworkers. This might make this a tough one for them to answer, but in most cases, your friends don’t work with your lover. Do they get along, though?

Question 14

What’s the subject of your most common arguments?

This quiz has already touched on the idea that most couples argue, and again, there’s nothing wrong with that—unless said arguments are about incredibly important things. If you’re just having minor tiffs about what you want for dinner, that’s no big deal, but a fight about money could be huge.

Question 15

Where did you meet?

For the most part, and this may come as a shock, the characters on The Office met one another while working at their office. While a select few people taking this quiz may be in similar situations, most people probably aren’t. Were one of these other locales more your style?

Question 16

Where would you rather vacation together?

One weird, out-of-nowhere vacation to an all-inclusive resort in Sandals, Jamaica was all it took to take Michael and Jan from coworkers who shared an awkward kiss to a full-on couple. It’s hard to imagine anywhere in the world could be more magical, but perhaps these other locations can match it.

Question 17

Where would you rather work?

To paraphrase Pam, it isn’t many little girls’ dream to be a receptionist, nor do most little boys fantasize about the day they’ll sell paper professionally. Of course, should either of them happen to find love through that work, maybe it would be worth it.

Question 18

Where do you live?

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what sort of dwelling a person or couple lives in so long as it fits the old cliché about being filled with love. Of course, not everyone would want or even be able to survive more than a couple minutes living on Schrute Farms.

Question 19

How much money do you have?

Despite the fact they all work for the same company, the employees of Dunder Mifflin come from surprisingly different financial backgrounds. Ultimately, they all wind up just fine, but some struggle more than others to make ends meet. Do you have a big safety net, or are you living paycheck to paycheck?

Question 20

Are you religious?

Technically, Michael Scott isn’t really allowed to ask his employees which religions they worship, but being Michael Scott, he does so anyway. Surprisingly, almost everyone in The Office has some belief system they follow, but not all do so with the same fervor. Are you a believer of any kind?

Question 21

Do either of you drink or do drugs?

For many people, the idea of their partner doing drugs or being a heavy drinker is a deal breaker. Of course, this can go either way—who would want to date a wet blanket who never has fun? Do the two of you imbibe and go wild, or are you on the safer side?

Question 22

At which type of restaurant would you rather dine?

Working at Dunder Mifflin doesn’t quite make anyone on The Office rich enough to go out for fancy meals seven days a week. However, they should all have the means to afford a special night out at least once in a while. Which style of restaurant would you choose for your date night?

Question 23

Who do you hire to babysit?

Even those of us who don’t have kids can understand how difficult the decision must be to choose who gets to watch them while we’re away. Every parent on The Office needed to make that choice eventually, so if you found yourself in the same position, who would you pick as a sitter?

Question 24

Does your family approve of the relationship?

Early on in this quiz, we asked if you like one another’s parents, noting it didn’t really matter much how you answered. Likewise, in the modern era, not everyone puts stock into whether or not their family in turn approves of the person they’re with. Even so, does your family?

Question 25

How is your home decorated?

Unfortunately for Jim and Pam, once they move into Jim’s parents house, they get stuck with a garish framed photo of a clown that they just can’t get down. Hopefully, wherever you live hasn’t been infested with irremovable kitsch, and instead you have space for prettier art of your choosing.

Question 26

Would you like working together?

In season six, an unlikely couple learns the benefits of being a husband and wife sales team by pretending that was what they are. Pam and Andy never actually hooked up, but they did date other people they worked, finding pros and cons in the situation. Would you like it?

Question 27

Do you ever want time apart?

No matter how in love a given person happens to be, some people just need their alone time. For others, alone time is all they want. Do the moments away from your partner feel like they last forever, or do you just wish they would?

Question 28

Which Office couple would you rather go on a double date with?

Considering the show featured the most awkward dinner party quadruple date in history, it would be understandable for fans to think twice before accepting a double date with any couple on The Office. Then again, we might rush into the experience knowing how much awkward humor it would bring.

Question 29

How long did you know one another before dating?

For the first two years of The Office, the biggest question was when Jim and Pam would finally admit their feelings for one another. It was hardly the first “will they or won’t they” relationship on TV, following the footsteps of Sam and Diane. Did you go through something similar?

Question 30

Is there any chance you’ll break up?

Not all things are meant to last forever. Hopefully, this quiz isn’t going to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and sends you two apart, but it’s possible you already see the writing on the wall and know you aren’t with your true love. Have you had such thoughts?

Question 31

Which classic couple from outside The Office is your favorite?

As pervasive as Jim and Pam have become in popular culture for being “the perfect couple,” they were hardly the first two fictional people to live happily ever after. The options are limited on the show, so you may need to look elsewhere for a couple that matches yours.

Question 32

What is your dream home like?

No matter where you live today, or if the two of you live together, all it takes is an imagination to picture what the perfect home would be for you and your partner. You probably wouldn’t be able to afford it on a Dunder Mifflin salary, but you can always dream.

Question 33

Have you ever watched The Office together?

It’s probably not a great indicator of whether or not you’ll last forever, but insofar as this quiz is concerned, this question is a big one. Obviously, the fact you’re answering these questions means you like The Office. Does your partner ever watch it with you, or do they not “get it?”

Question 34

Which other TV show might we catch you watching together?

Theoretically, the people taking this quiz are most likely to watch The Office together, but maybe that isn’t the case. Perhaps the two of you prefer a different type of show entirely, better suited to your needs and interests. Do any of these do the trick?

Question 35

Are you happy together?

No matter what result you’re about to get, ultimately, only one thing really matters about your current relationship. So long as the two of you are truly happy, it doesn’t matter if we think you have as much in common as Andy and Angela. How that’s possible, though, we’re not sure.
