Cosplay is an emerging trend and is emerging for good reasons. It stemmed from science fiction conventions where fans would dress up as their favorite characters. The first science fiction convention containing cosplay was from the First World Science Fiction Convention that took place in New York City in 1939. The only difference was that at this time, people dressing in costumes on days other than Halloween was considered weird, and because of this, they were misunderstood. Now that decades have passed, cosplay dressers are still considered weirdos, but we appreciate the passion they display for their art. The term "cosplay" was first used in Japan in 1984.
People will dress in cosplay for fun, to display their artistic talent, and even to win prizes. TwitchCon 2017 featured a cosplay competition with costumes that were breathtaking in design, and in some cases, unprecedentedly brilliant. The outfit of Kratos from God of War is commendable for its degree of semi-authenticity.
Other significant conventions that are hotspots for cosplay enthusiasts are Comic-Con, BlizzCon, PAX West, and Star Wars Celebration. If you haven't been to one of these gatherings before, then you are seriously missing out. They showcase the latest technology, numerous celebrities appearances, and have fan merchandise for sale.
