Which Boy Meets World Character Are You?

If you were a kid who regularly watched television during the 1990s, there’s a good chance Mr. Feeny taught you more than anyone paid to do that job at school. This isn’t the only reason Boy Meets World is one of the most enduringly popular family oriented shows of it’s era, but the teachings of TV’s greatest educator were definitely a huge part of the picture.

Well, that and the intensely relatable lives of Cory Matthews, his girlfriend turned wife Topanga Lawrence, and best friend Shawn Hunter. In addition to those incredibly well written characters, viewers also had Cory’s older brother Eric along to provide comic relief—not to suggest that others weren’t also absolutely hilarious when the situation called for it, because they absolutely were.

As every fan of Boy Meets World is surely aware, as we’re wandering down this road that we call life (which, after all, is what we’re doing), it’s good to know we have friends who will always stand by us. Hopefully these friends are of the literal variety, real people who you hang out with every day, but even if not, so what? You also have some of the best characters in TV history always ready to support you. Because the cast of Boy Meets World are probably your friends already, take our quiz and find out who amongst them you have the most in common with.

Question 1

Were you a good student in school?

For a show about a bunch of kids forming a strong relationship with one of their teachers, the characters of Boy Meets World were surprisingly all over the map when it came to their academic achievements. Mr. Feeny was one of the best teachers in TV history, but even he couldn’t get the worst student in the classroom’s attention for more than a few seconds. Would you ignore his lessons, or were you the type that always listened to your teachers with great interest?

Question 2

What’s your love life like?

Forget about any adult TV couples like Sam and Diane from Cheers or Jim and Pam from The Office—Boy Meets World fans are well aware the only true television “goals” are Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence. The two were close friends from childhood, shared one another’s first kiss in middle school, and were married by college, pretty much the fastest moving relationship TV teens have ever experienced. Have you had a similarly idyllic experience, or have you suffered some bumps on the road to love?

Question 3

What are you most afraid of?

Every Boy Meets World fan has his or her favorite episode, yet one iconic half hour that would feature on almost everyone’s list would have to be “And Then There Was Shawn.” An homage to the teenage slasher genre, the episode was genuinely terrifying at times while still bringing the laughs in a major way. Ultimately, it was all a dream based on Shawn’s subconscious, yet the fears exhibited by his friends felt amazingly real. Did they match your own?

Question 4

Have you ever drank alcohol or done drugs?

Airing on the family friendly TGIF lineup, and appealing primarily to an audience of teens and children, adult subjects like drinking and doing drugs rarely came up. This had the side effect that when they did, it generally meant fans were watching a Very Special Episode where one of the characters learned a harsh lesson about how substance abuse can harm their lives. Did the message connect with you, or have you experimented anyway?

Question 5

Who was your favorite childhood friend of the main characters?

Boy Meets World was on the air for seven seasons, across which Cory and his friends went from middle school all the way to college. Obviously, not everyone they were close with as pre-teens joined them for the entire journey. For one reason or another, several of Cory’s middle school acquaintances gradually disappeared over the years, or at least became far less integral characters in his life. Which one did you miss the most as time went on?

Question 6

Which of Cory’s school bullies was the worst?

Unfortunately for Cory and his friends, the high school they attended had a surprisingly prominent bully problem, and the teachers didn’t seem to do a whole lot about it. Chief amongst the troublemakers were Harley Keiner, Frankie Stecchino, and Joey the Rat, all annoying and brutish in their own ways. Over time, Cory and company actually managed to find middle group with a few of them and make amends, but before that happened, who was the meanest?

Question 7

What are your parents like?

The relationship between Cory and Topanga will forever receive a whole lot of attention from fans of Boy Meets World, yet their pairing isn’t the only perfect couple in the Matthews family. What some fans may overlook is that Cory’s parents, Alan and Amy, are just as great together as their son and his lifelong love interest. On the other hand, Topanga’s parents apparently had their problems, and Shawn’s family history is too intense for us to get into right now. Which story matches your parents?

Question 8

How would you address Mr. Feeny?

Whenever the characters of Boy Meets World have a problem, they all head to the same place in order to find a solution: Mr. Feeny’s backyard (and/or classroom). How exactly they catch their mentor’s attention is a different story, as everyone has their own way of addressing the man. Eric in particular has a whole song and dance affectionately named the “Feeny call.” Would you do the same, or treat the man with a little more respect?

Question 9

Do you have or want any kids?

Being a show primarily about teens and young adults, the subject of having children doesn’t come up in Boy Meets World until the very last season. At that point, Cory and Topanga decide while they might want kids in the future, they’re still in college and unsure about the future, and thus they should wait. Fans of Girl Meets World know they eventually did have a few kids in Riley and Auggie. Are you planning for a similar life, or would you prefer not to have children?

Question 10

Which celebrity guest star was your favorite?

Even if someone didn’t watch all that much Boy Meets World back in the day, if they happen to catch it today they may experience strong feelings of nostalgia for the 1990s in general. This isn’t to say the show was dated, but there nonetheless were a few special celebrity guest stars who may or may not be all that big a deal if they appeared on TV today. Back then, however, they were so famous they could appear as themselves in some hilariously self-aware performances.

Question 11

What word would your teachers use describe you?

Quite frankly, we’re still a little confused about how Mr. Feeny followed Cory and friends all the way from middle school to college—yeah, he’s a great teacher, but it’s not like he gets to go up a grade with every promotion. Regardless, the point is that over the seven years he spends teaching those kids, he manages to develop pretty strong opinions on all of them as students and people. Which of these terms might Feeny or someone like him use to describe you?

Question 12

Who was your favorite college era friend of the main characters?

As the high school years ended and Cory, Shawn, and Topanga made their way to college, a whole new cast of friends were made, some of whom were fan favorites pretty much upon arrival. Technically, Shawn met Angela and Jack while still in high school, but it was during college they all really came together, bonding with the whole group rather than just being connected to Cory’s best friend. Who were you happiest to see stick around?

Question 13

What word would your friends use describe you?

It’s all well and good how Mr. Feeny would describe you, but teachers only spend so much time with their students. Even a mentor who goes the next level probably doesn’t spend as much time with his or her students as said youngsters friends and family, and thus the way these people talk about you probably says more than anything a former teacher ever could. That in mind, what words matches what your friends would say about you?

Question 14

What’s the perfect location for a first date?

Not everyone can experience a romance like Cory and Topanga, who were literally together since childhood. Most of us will need to go through a more traditional process, which involves first dates filled with mysteries that have both good and bad answers. When you meet someone new and want to experience this journey with them, where’s the best place you could go together to start it?

Question 15

What would you order at Chubbie’s Famous?

Throughout the early years of Boy Meets World, it seemed like Cory and the gang ate at Chubbie’s Famous restaurant more than their own houses. Even if the Matthews family did sit down for dinner, Cory would head down to his favorite hangout spot to chill with Shawn and Topanga after eating, and he’d always order up some of Chubbie’s legendary chili cheese fries when doing so. What would you eat there?

Question 16

How much time do you spend on hair care?

Most people in this world have hair on their heads, but not all of us care about this fact all that much. Throughout the course of Boy Meets World, Cory seems to resent his hair more than anything else, constantly complaining about it and once comparing himself to a piece of celery because of it. On the other hand, practically everyone around him has gorgeous, flowing locks, which no doubt increase his self-loathing in this field. Are you the same way, or are you blessed with beautiful hair?

Question 17

Which of the following skills are you best at?

With a teacher like Mr. Feeny guiding the way, it was only natural that the kids of Boy Meets World would become strong willed, confidant adults in their chosen fields. Even before a spin-off series confirmed such, the series finale poised the main characters as ready to do some great things, using their natural skills and character traits to do so. Which of their skills matches your own?

Question 18

What kind of vehicle would you like to drive?

During the middle years of Boy Meets World, the brief opening sequence featured Cory, Topanga, Shawn, and Eric cruising around town in a convertible they strangely never actually ride in the series itself. Regardless of that silly lack of continuity, the characters do all learn to drive at one point, and the moment a person gets his or her license, they inevitably start mentally creating a dream car. Which of the following sounds like yours?

Question 19

Which of the following TGIF series was your favorite?

In retrospect, it seems like Boy Meets World has become the most popular and endearing sitcom ever aired by ABC on a Friday night, but it’s far from the only time they tried getting in a few more laughs before the weekend. In fact, one of ABC’s trademarks throughout the ‘90s was the TGIF line-up, a string of sitcoms airing right before the week was over from the late ‘80s until 2000. Aside from Boy Meets World, what was your favorite show of the bunch?

Question 20

How did you unwind after class?

Considering the extent of Cory, Shawn, and Topanga’s antics over the years, it’s sometimes easy to forget the kids were actively enrolled in either middle school, high school, or college during the entire run of Boy Meets World. Aside from an errant episode or two when they’re on vacation, this means every bit of hijinks they experience was part of their relaxation process after class. Did it ever match yours?

Question 21

What do you think about people who cheat in relationships?

Arguably the most controversial moment in Boy Meets World history occurred when Cory sprained his ankle during a ski trip. Not wanting to ruin the trip for everyone, Cory told Topanga to enjoy herself on the slopes while he recovered, indirectly allowing a lodge employee named Lauren to swoop in and very quickly develop romantic feelings for him. The night ended in a kiss and an emotional letter that briefly caused Topanga and Cory to break up. Was Topanga’s reaction appropriate, or did Cory deserve forgiveness?

Question 22

Are you a fan of sports?

When Cory Matthews was a young boy, he was like many other males his age in that he appeared to have a strong interest in sports. Unfortunately, though, the kid was never all that good at them, sitting on the bench during his basketball games and struggling to get a hit in baseball. Perhaps for this reason, his interest in sports gradually decreases over the years. Could you relate, or are you always ready for some football, so to speak?

Question 23

How do you dress?

Considering the age of Boy Meets World’s main characters as the show began, it could be argued their personal fashion really didn’t say all that much about them. After all, their parents bought them whatever clothes they were wearing, and thus had a bit of say in how they were allowed to express themselves. As the kids got older, though, they began developing their own styles, and as they say, the clothes started to make the men (and women).

Question 24

Do you have any close neighbors?

Another minor issue some fans have had with Boy Meets World in relation to the Feeny-Matthews family relationship is that it felt just a little bit too convenient for Cory’s mentor to live right next door to him. More than that, it was a bit odd that simply being the Matthews neighbors meant Feeny therefore became best friend and mentor to the entire clan. That said, maybe some people really are that close with their neighbors. Are you?

Question 25

Are you an optimistic person?

Given how perfect his relationship with Topanga is from the time they were kids, it’s no surprise Cory Matthews walked out of Boy Meets World a pretty darn confident kid. Of course, simply watching a character on TV go on an uplifting and generally positive story isn’t the same as experiencing such a journey in our own lives. Some of us haven’t been as lucky as Cory, thus winding up with a negative outlook free of hope. Ideally, that isn’t you, but it might be. Is it?

Question 26

Were you popular in school?

One might expect the characters of Boy Meets World all ran in the same social circles, what with the fact they were best friends from middle school through college and never seemed to hang out with anyone else. Despite this, there are actually many hints throughout the show that they vastly vary in popularity, with best friends Cory and Shawn in particular practically on opposite ends of the social spectrum. Where did you fall in terms of popularity?

Question 27

Do you care about what your friends think about your dates?

Everyone knows that Cory and Topanga were perfect for one another, most of all Shawn Hunter, who actually creates a murderous fantasy to bring them back together during one of their breakups. On the other hand, Cory, Topanga, and others aren’t always entirely in favor of Shawn’s dates, especially the girl who demanded he stop hanging out with Cory while they were dating. In short, if someone wants to be your lover, do they gotta get with your friends?

Question 28

What’s your biggest character flaw?

A big part of becoming an adult is recognizing that we as humans are not perfect, and that just about everyone has something to work on in order to become a better person to those around us. Generally speaking, kids can be extremely selfish and fail to notice their own flaws, while more mature individuals can acknowledge our faults and do whatever we can to fix them. Assuming you have this self-awareness, what’s your biggest problem?

Question 29

Which of the following careers would make you happiest?

Thanks to Girl Meets World, we know exactly how Cory and his friends are going to turn out later in life when it comes to what they do for work. However, before fans had a spin-off that answered all their questions about the future, it may have been hard to predict the sort of professions these kids would enter. After all, not every middle or high school student is thinking about the long term during their studies. Assuming you’re a bit older though, have you ever considered any of these careers?

Question 30

Where would you rather live?

Similar to the issue with not picking out their own clothing, the characters of Boy Meets World didn’t really have all that much of a say in where they got to live. While good parents definitely consider their children when deciding where to call home, the kids nonetheless are often left out of the final decision, meaning we have no idea whether or not Cory and his friends necessarily liked living in Philadelphia. Would you be happy there, or would you prefer someplace else?

Question 31

Did you get in trouble often as a child?

Much of Cory’s life was spent torn between his own strong morals and the fact that, let’s face it, sometimes it’s fun to be a little bad. Always nearby to remind Cory about the allure of the dark side was his best friend Shawn Hunter, a rapscallion if there ever was one, always getting into some sort of trouble or another. Were you the same way, or did you avoid bad decisions at all costs?

Question 32

Which of the following values is most important to you?

Ultimately, the reason Boy Meets World has been so endearing with friends lies not on the show’s comedy, strong though it often was. No, the real appeal of Cory Matthews and his friends was their incredible heart, making it one of the most emotional programs to ever air on network TV. When guided by feelings, it’s important to have strong values backing them up, something all of the BMW stars surely possessed. Which of these is most important to you personally?

Question 33

Do you consider yourself creative?

Over time, Topanga Lawrence grew into the smartest and most confidant character on Boy Meets World, but when Cory first started hanging out with her, she was a straight up weirdo. Well, that’s what he called her anyway, as she preferred the term “unique,” and we’ll throw in “creative” as an even more accurate descriptor. Could people say the same about you, or do you like to blend in, which Cory suggested Topanga try doing?

Question 34

What’s your favorite era of Boy Meets World?

From the title alone, it should be clear to fans of Boy Meets World that the main characters go through a gradual transformation from childhood into adulthood. While the tone generally remained the same, the specifics of how messages were portrayed and who Cory and friends hung out with changed as he went from one level of education to the next. Which era of Cory’s life was your favorite to watch?

Question 35

Have you ever watched Girl Meets World?

Unfortunately for fans of the show, Boy Meets World ended its seven season run back in the year 2000. On the plus side, the series finale wrapped everything up in beautiful fashion, and even better, 14 years later, we were given a second series allowing us to revisit the Matthews in their adult life as they raised a new daughter named Riley. Of course, most fans of Boy Meets World were a bit older when Girl Meets World made its debut, and thus might not have found the show as relatable or fun to watch. Did you?
