We Highly Doubt Anybody Is Passing This Vampire Diaries Test

One of the most popular supernatural TV shows out there, The Vampire Diaries first aired all the way back in 2009. Eight seasons were released in total, with the final season culminating in 2017. The series was incredibly successful - unpredictably so - with fans tuning in from all four corners of the world.

As most people taking this quiz are probably well aware, The Vampire Diaries focused on a love triangle between a human girl named Elena and two vampire brothers, one named Stefan and the other named Damon.

Of course, to stave away boredom plenty of other characters were introduced as the show progressed. As such, we met not only other humans (some of them went on to live happily ever after whereas others met their end sooner rather than later) but also plenty of witches, werewolves, powerful Original Vampires, hybrids, and ghosts. The story line got more complicated too as each character tried his or her very best to achieve his or her goal. Still, the love triangle was always there.

The Vampire Diaries might have ended but that does not mean that we have moved on. We watch random clips from the show on YouTube, we tune into The Vampire Diaries spin-off shows and we read fan fiction. But is that enough to keep the memory of all that has happened on the show alive? Let's find out!

Question 1

Name this character.

Let's start off easy. Every true fan of The Vampire Diaries should ace this question. This character was a major recurring character on the show. Indeed, we first met this character all the way back in "Family Ties', the fourth episode of season one. This character worked as the sheriff of Mystic Falls. She was also a member of the Founder's Council and greatly disliked vampires. She was the mother of one major character. When her daughter was turned into a vampire she wanted nothing to do with her. However, eventually she came around and learned to love her daughter for who she was. Unfortunately, this character passed away in season six of the series as a result of cancer.

Question 2

Who met Elena first – Stefan or Damon?

This is a tough question. Nonetheless, those who made it to the end of this supernatural series should have no difficulty in answering it. So, who knows who met Elena first - Stefan or Damon? As most fans will probably have no difficulty in recalling, Elena met both Stefan and Damon early on in season one of the show. Stefan was smitten with her from the very beginning whereas it seemed like Damon only paid attention to her so as to get back at his brother. Of course, with time Damon's feelings became genuine and the two brothers became fierce competitors in the contest for Elena's love.

Question 3

Where did Elena and Stefan first talk?

Over the years as many as eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries have been released. As is only natural, with time new characters (some of them major and some of them minor) and new plot lines were introduced. Still, those who watched this TV series from the very beginning should recall the first episode of season one. After all, that is where it all began. Episode one of the show was the episode in which we first met Elena and Stefan. Elena and Stefan developed an immediate crush towards one another but who can remember where it was that they first talked?

Question 4

Who was turned into a vampire first?

Very few characters had supernatural abilities at the beginning of the show. Indeed, most characters - think of Elena, Caroline, Matt, Bonnie, Tyler and Jenna for example - were human. The only major characters that were unusual were Stefan and Damon for they were vampires. Of course, that quickly changed. With vampires in town you can't expect things to function the way they once did. And indeed, soon enough one of the human characters was turned into a vampire. Being a vampire is nothing like being a human and the character found the transformation - and the new lifestyle - challenging to say the least.

Question 5

Why did Alaric become a vampire hunter?

When we first met Alaric Saltzman in "History Repeating" (episode nine of season one of the show) most of us did not find him in any way unusual. As some might be able to recall, he was introduced to us as a new teacher at Mystic Falls High School. We did not find out why he relocated to Mystic Falls until he befriended Jenna and came face to face with Damon. It was then revealed that Alaric was actually a vampire hunter and knew quite a bit about these supernatural creatures. It was also revealed why he had become a vampire hunter.

Question 6

Who is NOT an Original Vampire?

The Original Vampires, also known as The Originals, are a group of very powerful vampires. They are the first generation of vampires which means that no other vampire can compare to them in terms of age, strength and speed. Every vampire in The Vampire Diaries universe is linked to one of the Original Vampires. The main difference between an Original Vampire and a normal vampire is that an Original Vampire became a vampire through a spell whereas a normal vampire becomes a vampire through the ingestion of blood. In addition, Original Vampires can't be eliminated by anything or anyone but the White Oak Stake.

Question 7

Which of the below is NOT a founding family?

As most fans of the show are without doubt well aware, the families that founded Mystic Falls back in the 19th century are known as the Founding Families. More often than not, the members of founding families are also members of the Founder's Council (later renamed Town Council). Officially the Town Council is responsible for planning the commemoration of the founding of Mystic Falls. Unofficially however the Council is preoccupied with protecting the town and its inhabitants from vampires. Of course, not all members of the Founding Families are members of the Founder's Council. In fact, some members of the Founding Families possess supernatural abilities themselves.

Question 8

Who is this?

Recognize this character? She first made an appearance in season one of the show. This character was a centuries old vampire who came to Mystic Falls in the hopes of freeing her mother from a spell-locked tomb. She may look all sweet and innocent but she was actually quite ruthless and manipulate and ended up turning a few humans into vampires. Nonetheless, she ended up falling in love with Elena's younger brother Jeremy. He too had feelings for her but their love story was not meant to be. Shortly after this character freed her mother she was staked along with her mother and other ancient vampires by Elena's biological father. Nonetheless, in later seasons of the show this character visited Jeremy in the form of a spirit.

Question 9

Who turned Stefan and Damon into vampires?

The show would not be what it is without Stefan and Damon Salvatore. After all, they are the two male protagonists of the series and the two men that Elena falls in love with. Both Stefan and Damon are centuries old vampires who were turned back in the 19th century. But who can remember who it was that turned them? Over time Stefan and Damon managed to adapt to their vampire lifestyles even though initially they found the transformation challenging. It wasn't just Damon who could not control his behavior - Stefan was also known as a Ripper and was at times far less compassionate than we ever thought he could be.

Question 10

Who is Elena’s biological father?

At the start of the series we were all convinced that Elena's parents were Grayson and Miranda Gilbert who passed away in a car crash. The accident left Elena and Jeremy pretty much alone in this world although they were looked after by their aunt and their mother's sister. However, with time we learned that Grayson and Miranda Gilbert were not actually Elena's parents, at least not biologically speaking. In fact, Elena was the daughter of a woman named Isobel Flemming (who was later turned into a vampire by none other than Damon) who fell pregnant in high school. But who can recall the name of Elena's biological father?

Question 11

What was Klaus’s main goal?

For a long time Klaus Mikaelson was the main antagonist of The Vampire Diaries. Later he went on to antagonize the characters in the show's spin-off, The Originals. Klaus was an Original Vampire as well as the Original Hybrid. He was extremely powerful and yet despite all his abilities he was nonetheless on the run from his diabolical stepfather Mikael. Still, just because Klaus was on the run doesn't mean that he stopped scheming. There was one particular goal that Klaus had in his mind for much of the show. Who can remember what that goal was? He wasn't going to let anyone stand in the way of his bizarre dream.

Question 12

True or False – Stefan and Rebekah first met in the 1920’s

Rebekah was an ancient vampire whom we first met in season three of the series. She was quite ruthless and manipulative and at first appeared rather cold. However, with time we learned that Rebekah and Elena had quite a lot in common. For example, they both wanted a happy, human life more than anything else and they both thought that love was the best thing that humans could strive for. Of course, all these similarities did not make them into friends. It wasn't just Elena that Rebekah had a strained relationship with. Stefan and Rebekah had a curious relationship too but who can remember whether they had met before?

Question 13

Who was Jenna?

Remember Jenna? We met her all the way back in season one of the show. Unfortunately, she did not make it past season two. Jenna was a fun character which is why most of us were upset to see her go. As some might be able to recall, she was sacrificed by Klaus in a sun and moon ritual. Back when she was alive she was in a relationship with Alaric. Their relationship was not all sunshine and roses but they managed to overcome the obstacles that stood in their path. Unfortunately, just as they were reunited Jenna ended up in Klaus's clutches.

Question 14

What piece of jewelry does Stefan give Elena when they first start dating?

When Stefan and Elena first start dating in season one of The Vampire Diaries, he gives her a gorgeous piece of jewelry. It is a romantic gesture but we later learn that the piece of jewelry is by no means ordinary and that Stefan gave it to Elena intentionally. Indeed, the piece of jewelry is actually laced with a special substance that protects Elena from being compelled by other vampires. It actually comes in handy when Stefan's brother Damon attempts to compel Elena to kiss him. Later we learn that this piece of jewelry actually belonged to an ancient vampire named Rebekah, and to be even more specific, to Rebekah's mother.

Question 15

Who has Jeremy NOT dated?

Jeremy was Elena's little brother although as the show progressed we learned that they were not actually biological siblings. Still, that didn't matter hugely for them because they always looked after one another anyways and Elena always viewed him as her little brother. Over the course of the series we saw Jeremy grow as a person. He went from being a depressed and moody teenager to a brave and loving adult. We also saw him date quite a few women. Who knows which one of the below four characters Jeremy has NOT dated? Go ahead and choose the one option that you think is correct.

Question 16

Who turned Katherine into a vampire?

Here we have another rather tough question and one that only true fans of The Vampire Diaries have a chance of acing. The character that can be seen above was a centuries old vampire who turned Katherine Pierce into an immortal. It is worth mentioning that she never intended to turn Katherine. Rather, Katherine tricked her and as a result this character spent the rest of her life on the run from Klaus for he was furious that the doppelganger he was going to sacrifice in a ritual was now useless to him in her vampire form. Who can name this unlucky vampire?

Question 17

The doppelganger line was created by…

When we were first introduced to Katherine we were just as confused as Elena had been when she came upon a centuries old photo of the vampire that looked just like her. As most are without doubt well aware, Katherine and Elena were pretty much identical, at least in their appearance. In terms of their personality, they could not have been more different. Elena was caring and loving whereas Katherine was manipulative and cold. It's no wonder that both Stefan and Damon ended up choosing Elena. Their personalities and their looks aside, both Katherine and Elena were doppelgangers. But who was it that created the doppelganger line?

Question 18

Who was Klaus in love with?

We've already mentioned that Klaus was an Original Vampire and Hybrid. He was manipulative, scheming and unfeeling. In fact, some might even go so far as to call him a psychopath. Like most emotionally devoid people, Klaus had an extremely difficult childhood. Of course, it also did not help that he had to spend centuries on the run from his diabolical stepfather. Still, despite his bad behavior - he was the show's antagonist for a reason - he was not immune to love. Indeed, as the series progressed he ended up falling for one major character and in consequence revealed his more romantic side.

Question 19

Who takes the cure to vampirism with Elena at the end of the series?

If you've watched the show to the very end you should know the answer to this question. All throughout the show we had no illusions about Elena enjoying her immortality. As a human she never wanted to become a vampire and as a vampire she missed her human life. So it was only a matter of time before the cure to vampirism was found and before Elena took it. But who can recall who it was that took the cure with her - Stefan or Damon? Stefan was game for taking the cure from the very beginning whereas Damon did not want to give up his vampire life.

Question 20

Why does Caroline switch off her humanity?

Let's be honest, when we were first introduced to Caroline most of us did not like her very much. She was too competitive and too perky and frankly, she got on our nerves. However, over the course of the series she became one of the best character on the show. She was turned into a vampire pretty early on in the series but unlike most new vampires she learned how to control her cravings and feelings quite quickly (although of course it helped that Stefan was there to guide her). She only ever lost it once. Who can remember what even made Caroline switch off her humanity?

Question 21

What was the name of the college that Elena attended?

When we were first introduced to Elena she was a student at Mystic Falls High School. Because the series lasted eight seasons - and eight years - it was only natural that Elena was eventually going to graduate. After graduating Mystic Falls High School Elena decided to go to college. Her two best friends, Bonnie and Caroline, ended up going with her. Indeed, all three were roommates. As some might be well able to recall, at the time Elena was also in a relationship with Damon. But what was the name of the college that Elena attended? Choose the answer that you feel is correct!

Question 22

What subject did Alaric teach at Mystic Falls High School?

It did not take us long to fall in love with Alaric. Alaric was a pretty cool character right from the beginning of the show. His calm demeanor and his wonderful sense of humor - as well as the fact that he was willing to give the flunking Jeremy another chance - won the hearts of many so it only made sense that with time he became a major character. When we first met Alaric he was introduced as a new teacher at Mystic Falls High School. But who can remember the subject that he taught? Choose one of the four options below!

Question 23

How did Damon and Enzo meet?

Lorenzo St. John, better known simply as Enzo, made his very first appearance in "The Cell", the ninth episode of season five of the show (although he was mentioned earlier). That wasn't when Damon and Enzo first met however. Indeed, they actually met for the very first time back in the 1950's. In the modern world Damon and Enzo had a rather complicated relationship, going from best friends to frenemies to best friends again. But who can remember how Damon and Enzo met? What was it that brought them together? It wasn't a joyous occasion - after befriending Enzo, Damon ended up switching off his humanity.

Question 24

What were the names of Caroline’s twin daughters?

Technically, Caroline's twin daughters are not really hers. They were conceived by Alaric and Jo. Of course, as most can probably remember, Jo never got to see her daughters for her life was taken by her brother Kai during her wedding day. Luckily, the babies miraculously survived and Caroline became their surrogate mother. Despite the fact that her romantic life was neglected as a result (after all the babies caused her and Stefan to drift apart), Caroline never regretted her choice. She brought up the twin girls as her own along with Alaric. Who can recall the names of Caroline's twin daughters?

Question 25

At the end of the show what is the Salvatore Boarding House converted to?

At the beginning of the show the Salvatore Boarding House served as a home for Damon and Stefan Salvatore. The Salvatore Boarding House is huge so it is not at all surprising that many deem it to be one of the creepiest places in Mystic Falls although at times it did look rather cozy. Towards the end of the series one of the Salvatore brothers donates the house to Caroline. However, Caroline does not turn it into her place of residence. Instead she (and Alaric) convert the house into something else. Who can recall what exactly the house was converted to?

Question 26

Who took Lexi’s life?

Most of us were taken aback when Lexi's time on the show came to an end. She was a unique and wonderful character and it was upsetting to see her go so quickly. Lexi was Stefan's best friend and always paid him a visit on his birthday. The two met years ago, back when Stefan was a Ripper. He tried to attack Lexi but she was older than him (and as most are probably well aware, older vampires are more powerful than new ones) and as such overpowered him. She coaxed him into giving her bunny diet a chance and convinced him to regain his humanity.

Question 27

True or False – Stefan’s and Damon’s mother passed away from TB

Back in the 19th century both Stefan and Damon were normal human beings. They led fairly ordinary lives and they had a seemingly normal family. Their father Giuseppe however was a mean man and was abusive both to his children and his wife. He was a member of the Founder's Council and was naturally preoccupied with the idea of capturing vampires. He once punished Damon by burning him with a cigar because he was convinced that his older son had stolen money from him. However, it was actually his wife Lily who had stolen the money with the intention of leaving her husband. Before she could go through with her plan however she fell ill with TB.

Question 28

Where was Katherine born?

Katherine was our least favorite character but then again, just like Klaus, she had a rather complicated childhood. She led an ordinary human life back in the 15th century but then fell pregnant out of wedlock and was disowned by her family. Before long she befriended two Original Vampires but unfortunately their intentions were not all that pure. In fact, they were going to sacrifice her in a supernatural ritual. Katherine then fled and tricked one of the vampires she came into contact with into turning her into an immortal too. The rest is history. But where was Katherine born?

Question 29

Who was Elijah talking to when he said - "You realize this is the third time I’ve saved your life now?"

Elijah was another powerful centuries old vampire. As mentioned previously, we were first introduced to him in season two of The Vampire Diaries. Initially we saw Elijah as an antagonist, and for good reason. He was after Elena purely because she was a doppelganger. With time however we came to see Elijah as a rather honorable man. Indeed, he was not unlike Stefan in that he also did not think that humans were useless and he valued human life, an unusual trait to have for a vampire. Indeed, Elijah could at times be a real gentleman. Pretty much everything he did was out of love and loyalty for his family. But who was he talking to when he said the above phrase?

Question 30

Who can name this character?

We were not introduced to this character until the later seasons of the show which is why only those who watched the series to the very end stand a chance in passing this question. This character was a member of the Gemini coven and was stuck in jail world for quite some time, which is perhaps why we did not see her earlier. Most of us were taken aback when we found out that this character was once romantically involved with Stefan. That was a long time ago though, back when Stefan was still human. Indeed, this character met Stefan back in the 19th century and the two fell in love. In fact, this character fell pregnant but unfortunately was never meant to be a mother.

Question 31

Which of the below characters was never a Ripper?

Being a vampire is not easy. Most vampires have urges that they can't control and as such they feast on humans. Only a handful of vampires have mastered - or have even wanted to master - a bunny diet. And even those who have managed to contain their desires succumbed to them at one point or another. In fact, some have even gone so far as to become Rippers. A Ripper is a nickname given to vampires who are out of control. Instead of just feasting on humans to satisfy their hunger these vampires take pleasure in the act. Most vampires become Rippers when they turn off their humanity.

Question 32

Why did Damon come to Mystic Falls?

Most of us fell for Stefan immediately. The same could not be said for his brother Damon however. When we first met Damon he was cold, manipulative and plain mean. Even his amazing sense of humor could not make us like him. His appearance was rather unexpected, not only to us but also to his brother Stefan. Of course, over the course of the show Damon mellowed out and he quickly became one of our favorite characters. Just like Stefan, he fell for Elena and he was willing to do anything for her. But what was the reason for his coming to Mystic Falls in the first place?

Question 33

Who was the Original Witch?

The series might be titled The Vampire Diaries but that does not mean that all of the characters that make an appearance in it are vampires, of course. Some of the characters are human, others are werewolves and still others are witches. Take Elena's best friend Bonnie, for example. She is a witch, and a powerful one at that, even though when we first meet her she has no idea that she possesses supernatural powers. In fact, Bonnie comes from a family of witches - both her mother and her grandmother were witches too, as were her other ancestors. But who was the Original Witch (as seen in the image above)?

Question 34

Sybil was a ...?

Remember Sybil? If you've watched The Vampire Diaries to the very end, you should. She was introduced to us in season seven of the series and became the main antagonist in season eight. She was a beautiful woman who possessed supernatural abilities. Indeed, she was an ally of the creator of Hell, Arcadius (although she became his ally against her will). Sybil was once an innocent girl who was banished from her home village purely because she possessed psychic abilities. She washed ashore a seemingly abandoned island where she met another girl with psychic powers named Seline. The two became adoptive sisters.

Question 35

Who said “Humanity’s not all it’s cracked up to be”?

There's no denying that the characters on the show were a varied bunch. Some of them were humans, some of them were vampires and still others were witches. Let's not forget that the show also had vampire hunters and doppelgangers among other supernatural creatures such as werewolves and hybrids. Most humans loved being human and most vampires loved being vampires. There were exceptions of course. For example, Caroline, who was a human when we first met her, enjoyed her immortality immensely and had no desire in becoming a human ever again whereas Rebekah, a powerful centuries old vampire wanted nothing more than a normal human life. But who uttered the thought-provoking line above?

Question 36

Who never possesses any supernatural powers?

Most of the characters whom we met on the show underwent great changes. Quite a few characters who were human at the start of the show ended up possessing supernatural abilities at the end of it (or at least for some time during it). For example, Tyler became not only a werewolf but also a hybrid whereas Jeremy became a vampire hunter. The protagonist of the series, Elena, was a human girl who was turned into a vampire. Later she took the cure to vampirism (with another vmapire). There was at least one character who never gained any supernatural powers however. Who was it?

Question 37

Why did Katherine turn Caroline into a vampire?

Caroline made a great vampire. Indeed, becoming immortal was probably one of the best things that happened to Caroline, even though it might not have seemed like it at the time. Of course, Caroline never really wanted to be turned so the transition happened against her wishes. As fans should have no difficulty in recalling, it was the manipulative Katherine who turned Caroline into a vampire. But who can remember the reason behind Katherine's action? Of course, Katherine actually did Caroline a favor. As a human Caroline was neurotic and obsessive, and probably one of our least favorite characters on the show. As a vampire Caroline became much more mature, responsible and protective.

Question 38

What can humans use to protect themselves from vampires?

Vampires are much more powerful than humans, there's no question about it. Not only do vampires possess incredible speed and strength (they can snap a human's neck in seconds for example), but they can also compel humans to act the way they want them to act. Humans on the other hand can do little to harm vampires. Most vampires heal in seconds and as such they can't be seriously hurt. The only way to take a vampire's life is to stake him or her through the heart, which is a challenging undertaking. Of course, there are other ways that you can protect yourself against vampires too. If you consider yourself a fan of the show you should know the answer to this question!

Question 39

Who briefly dated Meredith Fell?

Meredith Fell was another one of those characters who had great potential. Unfortunately, she only ever appeared in 12 episodes of the series. She first appeared in season three of the show. She worked as a physician at Mystic Falls Hospital which was where she met a major character of the show. The two fell for each other almost immediately but their relationship was quite brief. Indeed, Meredith made her final appearance in season four of the show. We did not see her ever again although she was briefly mentioned in season six - it was revealed that she married a pediatrician and moved to Alaska.

Question 40

What was the name of Bonnie’s ancestor?

Who thinks they can name this character? This character was a powerful witch and one of Bonnie's ancestors. She was alive during the 19th century. She was actually the handmaiden to Katherine Pierce. The two were quite close. Apparently they became good friends after Katherine saved her life (it was never explained how unfortunately). Nonetheless, later down the line Katherine betrayed her friend in an effort to save her own life by informing the Founder's Council that this character was a witch. As such, she was burned at the stake. Before she passed away however she made a pact with Damon - she would cast a protective spell over Katherine if he kept an eye on her family.
