We Bet You Won't Be Able To Name All Of These Spider-Man Villains!

Of the superheroes created in comics, Spider-Man has one of the most eccentric and well-constructed rogues galleries. Not only are the many villains diverse, each one with their own strengths and weaknesses, many of them are well-developed characters, having both a rivalry with Spider-Man and sometimes a personal connection to Peter Parker.

Due to being their most popular character, Marvel has continuously given the webhead more foes to fight. Even when he debuted, Spider-Man soon found himself against foes beyond his wildest dreams. There were times when the villains even banded together to form the Sinister Six.

Now that Spider-Man will be rightfully working with Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War and Insomniac is releasing Spider-Man this year on the PS4, there's no telling to what we could be seeing from the character in the near future.

Needless to say, with all of the stories Marvel will be telling with Peter Parker, they have an amazing cast of villains to use as antagonists. However, not many people (other than the real Spider-Man fans) can name all of his villains apart from the easily recognizable ones.

Who is this villain?

This character is Spider-Man's arch nemesis. Not only does he battle the wall crawler in the streets of New York, but he also wages mental war with Peter Parker. Going insane due to some experimentation, Norman Osborn embraced his insane persona and developed all sorts of deadly tech to support this new alter ego. Known for his development of pumpkin bombs and the tendency to kill anyone who gets in his way, he became one of the most beloved Spider-Man villains.

There are plenty of brilliant minds in the Marvel Universe, but it seems that most of them let their intelligence go to their heads and start to become insane. This man let his power get out of hand and became a villain. He was the main antagonist of Spider-Man 2, where he developed a series of mechanical arms that eventually controlled his mind, prompting to turn to a life of crime. Since then, he has become one of the smarter Spider-Man villains.

This character was a bit of a laughing stock in the comics, taking the appearance of an old man who has no business fighting Spider-Man. When Marvel decided they were going to use the character as the antagonist for Spider-Man: Homecoming, there were some revisions in order. Taking a more technological approach, this version of the Vulture was much more terrifying, featuring understandable motivations and small green eyes that could easily give anyone nightmares. Tom Holland was in for a battle.

Eddie Brock wasn't the only character to bond with a symbiote. As a matter of fact, the Venom Symbiote had a child that then grew into its own entity. Instead of bonding with an anti-hero like Eddie Brock, this one found its way to Cletus Kassidy- and insane mass-murderer. Because of this, the villain that came as a result of the symbiote was much more dangerous. Having no regard for the lives of others, Cletus and the symbiote would go on killing sprees.

This villain might look a bit familiar, and that's because he eventually became a fairly popular Marvel Comics character. However, he didn't start as a character that Marvel wanted to give his own series. In his debut, he was pitted against Spider-Man in a brutal fight. Having a clear agenda, this new villain had no qualms with beating up the wall crawler with any strategy he deemed fit. Later on, the skull-bearing villain would travel to Hell's Kitchen and fight Daredevil.

This villain, as he appeared in Spider-Man 3, was just a guy trying to get help for his very sick daughter. Unfortunately, he was also a wanted criminal and couldn't do a whole lot without getting hunted down. This led him to get stuck in an experiment with rocks and sand. As a result, his body was permanently bonded with the minerals, which he then learned to control. After that, he chose to become a criminal to get the money for his daughter.

When the Russian mafia comes to America to try and see their plans met, you know that it can't be good. That's exactly what happened when Russians came to New York to get more money illegally. In order to power through the police and many other defense systems, one of their members was put through several experiments that gave him a suit of armor that was permanently attached to his body. This armor was designed to be bulletproof and without a single weakness.

Peter Parker always got amazing pictures of Spider-Man, and Jonah Jameson could hardly believe it. Because of this, he hired Mac Gargan to trail the kid and figure out his secret. After failing, Jameson had Gargan be the subject for an experiment involving animal DNA. However, it went horribly awry and gave Gargan a brand new appearance. After that, he swore to get revenge on the Daily Bugle by killing Jameson. If it weren't for Spider-Man's intervention, he would've succeeded.

Eddie Brock had his life turned upside down when he came into contact with an alien from a distant planet. As it turned out, the alien happened to be a parasite who could bond with a host to create a new entity. It did this with Brock and they created a darker version of Spider-Man. While introduced as a villain and new challenge for Peter Parker, this character eventually became an anti-hero, even going so far as to team up with the wall crawler.

Quentin Beck was one of the best special-effects artists in the industry. However, he aspired to be a director or an actor. Without the talent for either of those things, he decided to make a name for himself by trying to kill a superhero, Spider-Man. Using his knowledge of special effects and his superior strategy, he became a recurring villain for the wall crawler, using his tricks of the trade to gain the upper hand. He has come up with some elaborate schemes.

Comparisons to a similar Batman antagonist aside, this villain has a fascinating relationship with Spider-Man. While she is a villain and the two have fought on several occasions, they have also been known to get along really well (wink wink). She has eventually come into her own as an anti-hero who only does what she feels is necessary.

Max Dillon had an awful life. His parents never set a good financial example, and his dad ran off with another woman. His mom didn't have confidence in his abilities and prevented him from pursuing a college education. Instead, she made him work at an electric company before passing away. Dillon was then married, but his wife left him for an engineer. After that, Dillon started to become bitter. When he was struck by lightning on the job, he gained electric powers and decided to use them for committing crimes.

This character is one of the biggest crime lords in New York. However, he operates on a much smaller scale than most of the villains that the Avengers fight. Because of this, it was originally Spider-Man who took the fight to this lord of the underworld. However, he quickly found that this man wasn't just a financial mastermind. He also had the body mass and strength to go up against the best of the Marvel heroes. Eventually, this character became a Daredevil villain.

Hobie Brown didn't exactly have it easy in life. He was always enamored with the idea of having powers after being saved by Daredevil. While he did fight with Spider-Man and tried to steal money, Brown never wanted to bring harm to anyone.

Dr. Curt Connors had a rough life when he lost his arm. Because of this, he was constantly studying a way of returning it to him someday. This led him to study how lizard's can regenerate their limbs and apply that trait to his own body. The serum worked, but it had dastardly consequences. It also turned Connors into a monstrous reptile who had little control over his actions. He is easily one of Spider-Man's creepiest and most frightening foes.

This character didn't have an easy life. Her father was known as a renowned assassin who even worked with Wolverine before he became a member of the X-Men. Their house was bombed, and the girl's mom was killed. After this, her father trained her in the ways of the assassin and she even surpassed his abilities. She eventually became an assassin leading her own team of operatives. This led her directly in Spider-Man's path. The two fought each other at first before working together on several missions.

From that moment on, all knew that this new villain was to be feared. He even went so far as to kill those who shared his same villain name.

Coming from China and working with a deadly gang, Martin Li was prepared to do damage in New York. However, he was captured and experimented on (at the same place that created Cloak and Dagger). He survived and escaped. After that, he had powers related to light and dark, being able to manipulate these energies at will. He was known for changing his color to either white or black depending on which source he was drawing from. He was a powerful Spider-Man foe.

It's one thing to turn to a life of crime, and another to turn to a life of crime when you're bad at it. Unfortunately, Herman Schultz was very bad at robbing stores and was caught several times. While in prison, he was sent to a workshop where he was allowed to build whatever he wanted. He created a series of gauntlets that sent out deadly shockwaves. He used them to escape prison and terrorize the city of New York.

Phineas Mason had a natural skill for inventing new things. He was even skilled enough to give a conscience to a Doombot that landed near his shop. As time went on, he began to resent the natural powers that superheroes used to save the day- rather than have the skill to invent things. Because of this, Mason decided to become a villain who would create new contraptions to try and take down the hero of New York: the amazing Spider-Man.

You'll notice that this villain looks a lot like the Green Goblin, and that wasn't by accident. Roderick Kingsley was in the business market and sought to remove his competitors from the game. However, he wanted to make sure they'd never get up again, so he decided to try and recreate Norman Osborn's Green Goblin formula to give him a similar set of powers. The result was another Goblin in the streets of New York with an orange and yellow color palette.

There are several interesting villains to make their way to New York, but this one easily makes the top of the list. After being a scientist doing experiments on vampire bats, it went awry and he gained a taste for blood. On top of that, he also gained the characteristics of a standard vampire. When coming to New York, he ended up eating everyone that traveled with him and tried to kill himself. Unfortunately, that didn't stop him from fighting Spider-Man.

When will scientists learn that unnatural experimentation will yield disastrous consequences? Miles Warren was a master of biochemistry and ended up creating an entirely new creature. However, this creature killed his family, which caused him to begin losing his marbles. Becoming obsessed with the preservation of life, he learned how to clone people. He even created clones of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. He also blamed Spider-Man for the death of the latter, which prompted him to fight the wall crawler.

It's one thing to hate yourself, but it's another thing to be despised by your family. Dmitri Smerdyakov was hated by his family, and his parents constantly told him that they didn't like the sight of his face. Because of this, Dmitri eventually became a spy and was trained to hide his face from anyone and anything. He quickly gained a beef with Spider-Man as he turned to a life of crime by disguising himself as other people. He even tried to frame the wall crawler.

Who is this villain?

One of the most powerful Spider-Man villains exists in an entirely different universe. After fighting a Spider-Totem, he made it his mission to rid the Multiverse of all versions of Spider-Man (each defined by the totems). He quickly made his way to every universe and began hunting down different Spider-Men. This caused the various versions of the character to ban together in a storyline labeled the Spider-Verse. They took down this new villain, but not without their fair share of spider-casualties.

John Jonah Jameson (the son of the editor of the Daily Bugle) was an acclaimed astronaut and went on several expeditions in the cosmos. On one mission, he found a strange gemstone that he wore around his neck. However, he was shocked to find that, during every full moon, it glowed and he was turned into a werewolf. Having a personal beef with Spider-Man for humiliating him in the past, Jameson terrorized New York City, prompting the intervention of the wall crawler.

Who is this villain?

What if Norman Osborn was much more ambitious when trying to give himself superpowers? It just so happened that another continuity saw this come to fruition. After discovering how Peter Parker got his powers, he tried to recreate the serum but with his own DNA. Unfortunately, the result was that he turned into a demon-like monster and was much deadlier than the Earth 616 version ever was. This version of the Goblin also succeeded in killing Spider-Man while in battle.

Who is this villain?

As a young boy, Joseph was horribly disciplined by his father. He would constantly strike his head. When he eventually got in with the mafia, his skull would be smashed in a fight. Because of this, he underwent a procedure that gave him a steel head, making him much more effective in battle. He was another crime lord who tried to take over New York through the underground, often getting in scraps with the Kingpin. Joseph would use every opportunity he could.

Both Venom and Carnage are known as extremely powerful symbiotes. However, they were not the only ones to rampage through the Marvel Universe. Birthed from Carnage, there was another symbiote to take the world by storm. Being stronger than either Venom or Carnage, it was a force to be reckoned with. Bonding with a police officer and then Eddie Brock, this new symbiote was determined to leave its mark in history. This new symbiote was also dangerously morbid and used violence whenever it wanted.

Who is this villain?

Anton Rodriquez was to South America what Captain America was to the US. Being a government-sanctioned vigilante, it wasn't long before Rodriquez proved to be working with evil intentions at heart. This brought him in direct contact with Spider-Man, and the two didn't get along. At first, Rodriquez would wear an interesting costume, but he would eventually gain a new appearance that resembled a monstrous spider. The reason he looked like that was because he started working with the Jackal.

Who is this villain?

Keep in mind that we're referring to the robot and not the man. There are several brilliant people in the Marvel Universe, and most of them are capable of creating artificial life. This led to a robot being built by a scientist with the ability to answer just about any question you could throw at it. However, it had a malfunction in its programming that led it to go on a rampage through Midtown High, which prompted action from Spider-Man.

Who is this villain?

Mark Raxton was working with Spencer Smythe on creating the Spider-Slayers. During their work, they developed a new special liquid that would make the Slayers even stronger. However, Mark accidentally spilled it all over himself, which caused his skin to glow and him to become a big pile of heat. While scared by this new composition at first, Mark quickly realized that it was a blessing for him. Quickly robbing banks and committing crimes, he found it much easier until Spider-Man came along.

Who is this villain?

Frank Oliver was a very interesting individual. Born and raised in Australia, he had a fascination with kangaroos and longed to be like them. When he came to America after being forced to leave his country, he turned to a life of crime immediately and went face to face with Spider-Man. Quickly knowing he was outmatched, Oliver had a much better chance after getting biologically altered. He was given implants in his feet that allowed him to jump to incredible heights.

Who is this villain?

An older version of the Hobgoblin was frustrated at his inability to win against Spider-Man or the Green Goblin. Because of this, he decided to sell his soul to a demon, who proved to be incompatible with him. The two fought for control of the human's body until the demon developed its own body- a demonic version of the Hobgoblin, complete with more impressive physical abilities and a much more horrifying appearance. His only goal was to kill all sinners and earn redemption.
