Can you believe it has been over 10 years since the original Transformers movie was released? This is one of the most popular sci-fi franchises of all time. Transformers was based on the Hasbro toy line of the same name. Since the original movie, there have been a plethora of sequels - five of them to be exact. The most recent sequel is "The Last Knight" released in 2017. There is a spin-off/prequel in the works that is slated for a December 21, 2018 release. Shia LaBeouf plays the main character in this film, and his performance was reviewed highly by Empire. The film was directed by Michael Bay, and Steven Spielberg signed on as an executive producer in 2004. Michael Bay initially scoffed at the idea, stating that it was just a "stupid toy movie" - but he developed an appreciation for the Transformers universe after visiting Hasbro.
This was the fifth highest-grossing film of 2007, grossing $709 million dollars worldwide. Fans were divided in their response to this film. Radical redesigns of some of the original Autobots left a bad taste in the mouths of many. That said, the film brought the Transformers universe to many who knew very little about it - allowing the fanbase to grow substantially.
Whether you were a fan of the original toy line, cartoons, or just enjoy the live-action films, we'll see just how much of this action-packed blockbuster you can remember. More often than not we start out with a beat-up vehicle that has more problems than anything else - but at least it's ours! Nothing beats the freedom of the open road. The quirky car salesman at the beginning of the film is played by the hilarious comedian Bernie Mac. He seems reluctant to sell the car to Sam and his father at the price they suggest. Frenzy is as sneaky as they come. He's a much smaller size than his allied Decepticons. Rather than transforming into a vehicle, Frenzy usually transforms into technology that is much smaller. This allows him to hide easily in people's bags, under cars, etc. It's what makes it so easy for this character to infiltrate secured areas to steal information that will be useful for his team. Starscream is probably the most dangerous, and intimidating Decepticon apart from Megatron himself. He's able to transform into an extremely fast fighter jet (and F-22 raptor to be exact). He rallies the other Decepticons into battle once his ally Frenzy alerts them to the location of the Allspark. He assists in attacking the humans during the battle at the end of the film. I suppose it was naive to hope that all the Autobots would escape the battle unharmed. Unfortunately, the snappy character Jazz gets killed by Megatron. The death is quite gruesome. Megatron really cements himself as a villain with this heartless act. We see that he is a cold-blooded killer with absolutely no respect for his own kind. Megatron has no qualms about exterminating Transformers or humans. Anything to fulfill his master plan. Can you remember how his kills the Autobot Jazz?

The scene where Bumblebee is injured is one of the saddest in the entire film. You can see the pain on Sam Witwicky's face when his friend gets hurt. Mikaela is crying in the background because she is so upset. Can you remember exactly what happens to Bumblebee at this point? Do the humans say goodbye? Is he able to get the help he needs? The city that sets the scene for the final showdown between Optimus Prime and Megatron is quite unlucky. They have to deal with a large number of buildings getting destroyed. Vehicles being thrown about. Humans dying. Technology being transformed into evil robots. Not exactly an ideal place to live, right? I guess real estate is probably cheap - that's always a plus, I suppose. What was the name of this city? Was it fictional? Was it based on a real American city?

In the end, The Decepticons are able to free their leader from his slumber. Luckily, the good guys are able to escape with the AllSpark before the Decepticons get their hands on it.

Megatron might be an evil, alien-robot hell-bent on world domination and human genocide, sure. I'd like to think he's got a rational side too. Mid-credits (or post-credits) scenes are becoming extremely popular in cinema. Marvel seems to have the highest incidence of them, but pretty much any film that has a chance of a sequel will usually sneak a little peek in at the end of the film.
