There’s No Way 90s Kids Can Name These Newer Pokémon

Anyone who grew up in the 90s will remember what a huge deal Pokémon probably was either to them or to their friends and siblings. Whether it was the anime series, just collecting and trading the cards, or battling the cards, Pokémon was a pretty huge deal for a lot of people. The original 151 Pokémon were great and the center of the Pokémon obsession for 90s kids everywhere. But, anyone who is still into Pokémon will know that those 151 Pokémon aren't where it ended! Since then, there have been six more generations of Pokémon and there's a Pokémon that looks like just about every animal or household object you could imagine.

Did you keep up with the Pokémon series after that first generation? Do you know the names of all the Legendary Pokémon and still strive to catch 'em all? Keeping track of their names, evolutions, and special moves isn't easy, but people who are super into Pokémon have no problem identifying them.

You'll have to be the best Pokémon Trainer on this side of the Alola region in order to identify these Pokémon! These are all from later generations, so there's no way that 90s kids are going to be able to recognize all these.

This giant Pokémon is based on a blue whale and was introduced in Generation III. Although it's not one of the newest Pokémon, it's also not one of the original 151 which means that it's still one that a lot of 90s kids probably don't know. This Pokémon evolves from a smaller whale-shaped Pokémon at level 40 and starts off with an HP of 170 which means that it's a pretty tough opponent. Do you know the name of this Pokémon?

This fossil Pokémon is resurrected from a Root Fossil instead of being hatched or caught in the wild like many other Pokémon are. This Pokémon was introduced in Generation III and its Pokèdex entry explains that over 100 million years ago, it would attach itself to the sea floor and use its large, pink tentacles to pull its prey in to eat. Since then, it has gone extinct but science has allowed it to be resurrected through fossils by trainers.

This purple Pokémon was introduced in Generation IV and resembles a balloon. It has a round body with two thin strings that hang down for arms and the bottom of its body looks like the end of a balloon that's been tied off. This Pokémon simply floats around aimlessly which has gotten it the nickname "Signpost for Wandering Spirits." It has also been known to steal away children that try to chase it thinking its a balloon. How creepy is that?!

This Pokémon is delicious. It was introduced in Generation V and is the result of two Vanillish that were left out together during the day that melted and then stuck together again when the temperature dropped below freezing again. This Pokémon resembles two scoops of ice cream stuck together and is covered in ice crystals from being out in the freezing weather overnight. This Pokémon is totally making us hungry! On top of being tasty, this ice-type Pokémon is also pretty tough.

It circles the ocean looking for Wishiwashi to eat which has been helpful to fishermen in the area who are looking to catch some too.

This Pokémon was introduced in Generation III and although it doesn't evolve into or evolve from any other Pokémon, it can Mega Evolve into a Mega version of itself which we think is pretty cool. This Pokémon appears to be a regular mammal with four legs, a feline face, and scruffy fur, but it has a sharp tail, a large horn, and sharp claws.

Depending on the location in which it last battled, it will either be seen wearing one of three cloaks. The Plant Cloak, seen in this photo, is what it wears if it last battled outside in grass, the Trash Cloak is what it wears if it last battled in a building, and the Sandy Cloak is reserved for if its last battle was on a beach or in a cave.

This Pokémon was introduced in Generation IV and can take many shapes. The appliance that it possesses are what changes the form it takes. For instance, when possessing a refrigerator, it becomes the Frost version of itself and becomes an Electric/Ice-type Pokémon.

Because of this, these Pokémon are typically found deep in the forest, they can also be found roaming cities - especially near hospitals due to the fact that they seek out dying people for their souls.
