Few things are more frustrating for any Gilmore Girls fan than attempting to explain to people who've never seen the show why they should watch it. The premise doesn't really do the series justice. Saying that it's a story about a mother and daughter who are best friends does not properly elucidate how amazing this show is - although that is all creator Amy Sherman-Palladino had when she pitched Gilmore Girls in the first place. Of course, the relationship between Lorelai and Rory is the heart of the series, but there is so much more to it than that.
With the Gilmores, Amy Sherman and Daniel Palladino created a family that was both lovable and relatable. They also introduced us to a charming town that we could only dream of living in, populated by some of television's most memorable characters. The show's impeccable writing extends beyond story though. Gilmore Girls featured some of TV's greatest dialogue, always delivered at a breakneck pace by its pitch perfect cast of actors. Let's also not forget about the incomparable soundtrack!
