Create Your Perfect Spotify Playlist And We'll Guess Your Age

Remember the days of having to go to a CD store or a Target to get your music? Remember record shops? 'Member iTunes? I 'member!

Thankfully for both my wallet and ease, we have outlets like Spotify and Apple Music to where, for a monthly fee, you get all of those albums and don't have to worry about spending $15 for 15 songs you may listen to once or twice. Today, we're going to not only help you build a music playlist, but learn how old you are.

Rather than rating musicians or groups, you're going to pick from a select few in each question, which will tell us how old you are as they're linked to an age group. It will be fun!

And while some of these applications and outlets have certain artists that aren't avaliable (i.e. Jay-Z on Spotify), just ignore that for today and pretend you can listen to Jay-Z on Spotify. I mean, you can. Songs that either feature Jay are still avaliable without any consequence, so pretend!!

If you're ready to build the perfect playlist and be amazed at how good we are at guessing ages, grab your headphones (or a portable speaker) and let's get to work.

Question 1

Pick your favorite music genre

This seems like a question that would make sense to have, right? We've given you four of the more popular genres to pick from - if you're into metal, you can count that with rock despite the two being different - and if your favorite genre isn't on here, just pick other. It may come up later...

Katy Perry or Taylor Swift?

We're only doing one "or" on this quiz and it's between two of my personal favorite artists - wait, this picture was taken all the way back in 2010? Both look so stunning now that, like the Britney and Tay Sway pic from earlier, you'd think it was from this year. Whaaat? Pick one.

Question 4

Pick a pop singer

(If you like Chesney, he just released a live album on Spotify.)

Question 6

Pick a hard rock band

All five of these bands are awesome - well, four are and Mötley Crüe is pretty good. Seriously, don't hate on Bon Jovi's work from the mid-2000s. I Love This Town was the soundtrack to some postseasons where the Yankees disappointed and the Red Sox were winning, sadly. Pick a band!

Question 7

Pick a modern heavy metal band

Yeah, we could put acts like AC/DC or Metallica here, but we wanted to make sure all our metal-heads still taking this quiz felt included. We do care about you, we promise! And if you're someone who has never heard of these bands and doesn't want to, you can pick that.

Pick a 2016 album

2016 was a stronger year than 2016, though it did have an extremely misleading and divisive album in Kanye West's TLOP. Was TLOP really that good? If you pick it, that's your choice, but we personally feel the other albums on this list were better. Hey, it's your choice here.

Question 17

Pick a female artist who Eminem dissed

Eminem has taken his fair share of pot shots at plenty of rappers, but female artists - sometimes jokingly, sometimes not - are a target for him as well. Pick a 2012 album

Wow, 2012 was six years ago...and it was a pretty disappointing year for music given how great 2010 and 2011 each were. This was one of those years where it felt like all the best songs on the radio came from the year before...but we did get GKMC this year. Pick an album!

Pick a current, rising rapper

We've talked enough about the good old days of rap, so why not talk about what seems to be a glorious new day where you can barely understand what they're saying? I accidentally wrote "bearly" instead of "barely", so I'm en route to being a rapper in 2018. Who do you like?

Now, not all of these acts are overrated to us - we love Nas and Radiohead has some good songs. Also, you can choose from Carrie singing "Waiting All Day" or the newer "Sunday Night..." one.
