The Friends Quiz For Only The Most Hardcore Fans

From monkeys to chickens, to ducks and breakups, Friends was a phenomenal hit during its 10 season run on NBC starting in the September of 1994 and ending in May of 2004. The six stars of the show, and the cast of writers, made television gold during that stretch, and the Manhattan-based sit-com became one of the most successful shows in prime time television history. Although it ended 14 years ago, the show dropped a pop culture nuclear bomb and is still quotable, relateable, and ran on many different television networks to this day.

Each character was so unique to the point where viewers could see themselves in one or more of the personalities, and while the differences made each character who they were, it was the cohesive bond within the group in which we all had a soft spot for. Not to mention that the main and supporting characters were absolutely hilarious, and when episodes felt like a Ross episode, or a Rachel episode, the comedic writing and the performances never swayed as the show climbed to number one during their 8th season, and ultimately 52.5 million viewers tuned in during the show's series finale.

So, who is ready for a nostalgic trip down memory lane? This quiz will test the most hardcore fans on their knowledge of the group of six fictional friends. From cars, to pets, to foosball player names, how much do you really know about Friends?

Question 1

What was the name of Ross' monkey?

In season one Ross combats loneliness by adopting a furry pet to live with him at his apartment. However instead of a typical cat or dog companion, he sprung for an adorable, tiny Capuchin monkey, much to Monica's distaste. The monkey would make for some memorable moments during the first season, and add a level of complexity (and hilarity) to Ross' character in which we became accustomed to as the show rolled on for nine seasons after. What was the name of Ross' monkey?

Question 2

Which dessert did Rachel and Chandler steal?

Chandler and Rachel received a delicious delivery in season seven. Of course this was meant to be delivered to a neighbor in the building but the pair simply could not resist the temptation. Twice. This led to fighting and scheming as the two friends wanted the entire dessert to themselves, ultimately ending in disaster as it splattered on the floor in the hallway outside of the apartment and gave way to one of Joey's most memorable moments as he joined them in eating it off the floor.

Question 3

Which friend did Phoebe mug when they were kids?

Phoebe grew up on the mean streets of New York, but ended up relatively well adjusted by those standards. She did what she had to do to survive in her younger years, and it wasn't below her to mug and steal from comic book nerds in the neighborhood to keep herself fed. In an episode where one of the friends tells the story of how they were mugged as a kid, it is revealed that Pheebs was the culprit behind it.

Question 4

What was the name of Ross and Chandler's band in college?

Ross and Chandler were two hips dudes during their college years, at least in their opinion, and played in a band during the height of the 80s electronic dance music movement complete with haircuts from the era. Fans hear about the pair's musical exploits throughout the series here and there, but we never really did get the full musical experience from the boys. Often teased by Monica, who may be the only person in the world to have heard their original music, Ross seems to be the only one who was proud of his musical past.

Question 5

Who did Joey play on Days of our Lives?

Joey stumbled through more acting roles than we can count during the 10 seasons of Friends. From the stage, to television, to the big screen as a "butt double" for an A-list Hollywood celebrity, Joey always managed to find work despite being a struggling actor, no matter what the role entailed. He would use his role on Days of our Lives as a crutch during his acting career, often lashing out when directors and producers didn't see his achievement in the same light as he did.

Question 6

Who burned down Phoebe's apartment?

In season six Monica and Chandler finally decide to live together. Unfortunately that meant for Rachel that she had to find a new place to live, ending an era of living with Monica in the mainstay apartment for each character and the show. Phoebe generously offered up her apartment and gained a new roommate in Rachel and the pair were happy about the opportunity initially. But, things go sideways when Phoebe's apartment catches fire, and each friend blames the other for being the cause of the accident.

Question 7

Who was Ross' first wife?

Ross had several different wives in the 10 year span of the show. It became a running joke throughout the entire series where Ross was usually at the butt end and defending himself for having three divorces. He had a son with his first wife and was the first friend in the group to have a child, although she did leave him for another woman which is something Ross could never really get over, even well into the later seasons of the show.

Question 8

How many sisters does Joey have?

Joey comes from a big, traditional Italian-American family where he was the outnumbered male of the household growing up. Joey remained extremely close with his family, and was very protective of his sisters when it came to male suitors, including his best friend Chandler. His sisters generally looked the same, and had such similar names that it became a guessing game for Chandler in one episode in season three where he kisses, and forgets, which sister it was he was chasing after.

Question 9

Who was Rachel's young assistant at Ralph Lauren?

Rachel received a big promotion at Ralph Lauren during season seven, which prompted her ability to hire an assistant to help her at work. She avoids hiring an older woman, who was actually qualified for the job, and instead hires a young and hunky male counterpart who has little to no job experience in the field. She became infatuated with her new assistant, and it actually made her working life more difficult as she could not seem to get over the fact that she couldn't date him.

Question 10

What was the name of Joey's chair?

Ahh the BarcaLoungers. Thrones fit for a king. Joey and Chandler had matching chairs while they lived together in their bachelor pad across from Monica's apartment. The chairs meant everything to the boys and later in the series it was revealed that Joey even named his. The chairs certainly looked comfortable, and became a staple of Joey's apartment long after Chandler moved across the hall to Monica's. Although Joey's original chair met it's untimely demise, we'll never forget her name.

Question 11

Which friend quit smoking?

This friend had a serious smoking habit, but with the support of their close friends they were able to kick the addiction, to some extent. They started smoking again later on, much to the disgust of their closest friends and were banished outside to the balcony at Monica's during a rainstorm using only a barbecue cover for shelter. This friend also tried to hide their smoking habits, especially at work, at Central Perk, and inside Monica's apartment. Which friend quit smoking?

Question 12

Which of Rachel's sisters dated Ross?

One of Rachel's sisters showed up at Monica's Manhattan apartment trying to start a new life for herself, much the same way Rachel did when she skipped out on her wedding day. She ended up still relying on her parents and their credit cards, and dated Ross in spite of Rachel. She only appeared in two episodes however, but luring Ross into dating her was a funny moment, especially when the gang could see the pair through Ross' living room window.

Question 13

What did Joey and Chandler use for a kitchen table?

Chandler and Joey certainly had the ultimate bachelor pad. It was untidy, in contrast to Monica's apartment, featured two BarcaLungers, and after the kitchen table broke the boys ushered in what would become a staple to the show and their home. Many of games were won and lost on the new piece of furniture. Money, pride, and glory were always on the line for whoever stepped up and accepted the challenge. It had gotten so competitive that the boys also banned Monica from playing.

Question 14

Who is Phoebe's twin sister?

This character didn't appear in too many episodes, although she was often referred to by Phoebe, mostly in a negative light as being thoughtless, careless, and selfish. Phoebe's sister even stole her identity to use as her own name as a star in adult films, which Phoebe found out the hard way after Ross and Joey did some digging to find out the truth. Phoebe confronts her sister in the middle of a movie shoot and takes back her name in an epic (and hilarious) verbal beat down.

Question 15

What is Ross' occupation?

Ross does little to hide the fact that he is a bit of a science nerd, however out of the entire gang of friends he's the most educated and successful one of the group and earned his doctorate in his field of study. He cherishes his work, and loves to talk about his job to anyone who will listen, which is almost nobody and is often on the receiving end of jokes and jabs from his friends. But, that doesn't deter Ross from wanting to educate the people around him.

Question 16

Which football trophy do Ross and Monica compete for?

There's nothing like a game of touch football on Thanksgiving Day to bring together friends and family for a day of fun in the park. However this was no ordinary game for Ross and Monica as the pair put their competitive streaks into action in chase of this coveted family trophy, crudely built with a troll doll as the topping piece. Their competitive nature deterred the other friends from caring about the game, and when push came to shove everyone threw in the towel.

Question 17

What was the name of Joey's boat?

Joey may have made some bad mistakes during his lifetime, but mistaking an auction for a guessing game contest takes the cake. Joey accidentally places a bid on a sailboat in the realm of $20,000, and to his surprise he wins. Rachel almost talks the next highest bidder into buying the boat, however in doing so she further intensifies Joey's lust for life on the water, and he decides he wants to keep the vessel and live a party life on the ocean.

Question 18

What is Chandler's middle name?

Oh, Chandler. He has drawn the short straw for the better part of his life. He's awkward, introverted, and his sense of humor is often overlooked by his friends and co-workers, but that's what makes him so funny to the viewers. His mother is an erotic novelist, while his father is a cross-dressing burlesque dancer, making his childhood very difficult on him and shaping him into the emotionless and sarcastic adult in whom we all know and love. His middle name is just another piece to the complex Chandler puzzle.

Question 19

What is the name of Phoebe's hit song?

Good old Phoebe moonlights as a masseuse, but her real passion comes from playing music. She found herself playing regular gigs at the gang's favorite local coffee house, and one song in particular was her claim to fame when record executives decided to bring her on board to record the single in a professional setting, instead of on the streets of New York and inside the coffee shop in front of 10 customers. The song in question has been a staple during the run of the entire series.

Question 20

What is Monica's occupation?

Monica supposedly chose her occupation based off of a fateful Thanksgiving dinner where Ross invited Chandler back to his parent's house over the break at university to spend the weekend with him and his family. At one point Chandler mildly complimented Monica, which set off a light bulb in her mind to pursue a career just to impress him since she had a very blatant crush on him at the time. She also overheard Chandler calling her fat, which led to her losing weight just to spite him.

Question 21

Who was the other member of the I Hate Rachel club?

As it turns out, Ross co-founded a club in high school dedicated to hating Rachel Green. There were only two members, but they both had their reasons and in an episode in season eight one character from their past made his return and still held his strong feelings of hatred towards her. Rachel took a liking to this character, although unknowingly to her he had founded the club with Ross when they were teenagers. He didn't get the memo that the club had been disbanded.

Question 22

What is Rachel's favorite movie?

This episode flipped the series on its ear when the Monica and Rachel squared off against Joey and Chandler to see which pair knew more about the other. Up for grabs was Monica's clean and spacious mainstay apartment where she had been living since moving into the city in her early twenties. Ross officiated the contest, which came down to the lighting round where Joey and Chandler came out ahead and won their way into a bigger and nicer apartment. It was during the contest when Joey guesses Rachel's favorite movie.

Question 23

The response is so overwhelming that when it gets taken away he fills the void by creating an exact replica, except it's made of cardboard boxes.

Question 24

Who is Phoebe's brother?

Phoebe has no idea she even has a brother until the second season where she puts together the missing pieces of her childhood and tries to track down her missing father. Her brother turns out to be just as strange as Phoebe, and a little bit extra as Phoebe invites him to visit her in season three but quickly realizes they are nothing alike. They do end up bonding however, and later in the series Phoebe helps her brother and his new wife try for a child.

Question 25

Who were the bullies at the coffee house?

Probably one of the only times the gang didn't get their seats at the coffee house, Chandler and Ross run into a pair of bullies who refuse to move and end up acting aggressive towards the boys. This makes Chandler and Ross stay clear of the coffee house in fear of getting beaten up, but they eventually come to their senses and decide to go on their own anyway. This turns into a street fight, where the bullies and the boys team up to take down a pair of thieves.

Question 26

Who is Ross' doppelganger?

Rachel dated this man after her and Ross split up. He had such a striking resemblance to Ross that everyone in the friend group caught on to what she was doing. Well, everyone except Rachel. Everything from his demeanor, speech, personality, and even his job title were so similar to that of Ross that when Rachel finally realizes that she replaced Ross with a duplicate she freaks out. This episode made for the great scene where Ross and his doppelganger get into an argument and it's instant television gold.

Question 27

What is Joey and Chandler's favorite television show?

Again back to the bachelor life of Joey and Chandler. The boys spent their days together playing video games, drinking coffee, running lines for Joey's auditions, but mostly they enjoyed sitting in front of the television in their king's thrones watching one hot show in particular. They even set a timer so they would never miss an episode, and would promptly stop what they were doing to tune in. Chandler even named their pet chick after one of the characters.

Question 28

Who were Ross and Monica's parents?

Ross and Monica's parents made many appearances through the series and won over the audience immediately with their typical parental anecdotes. They were funny and sweet, and often confused by the younger generation when they came to visit their kids in the city. They didn't like Chandler at first, thinking he had smoked pot in Ross' room and had jumped out the window, a lie in which Ross told to keep himself from being busted during his college years long ago.

Question 29

Who was Ross' bald girlfriend?

Bonnie is a friend of Phoebe's who eventually gets set up with Ross. Rachel, who still had feelings for Ross at the time gave the go ahead as she remembered her as being Phoebe's bald friend. As the gang went to stay at a beach house with Pheebs as she tracked down her father, Ross' new love interest showed up unexpectedly, and with a full head of hair, much to Rachel's distaste. Rachel manipulates Ross' new lady into shaving her head again, something Ross wasn't on board with.

Question 30

Who is Chandler's roommate when Joey moves out?

When Joey is finally able to stand on his own two feet he feels as though he should be living on his own. This creates some tension between he and Chandler, and ultimately when he leaves Chandler finds a new roommate and potential best friend. Unfortunately this doesn't last long, as Chandler's new roommate turns out to be a complete and total psychopath. Although he means well, his mannerisms and his personality are just too much for Chandler to bare, which led to his eviction.

Question 31

What does Monica make which impresses all of her neighbors?

Monica loves being acknowledged for her hard work, so when she decides to make treats for he neighbors in the building and they end up loving it, she pushes herself to keep producing so that she can continue to be validated. Question 32

Where do Ross and Rachel get married?

Ross and Rachel have the night of their lives, but don't remember a minute of it. The pair get over the top drunk and head out on the town, little do they know they would end up getting married at a small chapel and without any of their friends of family in attendance. This would make for Ross' third marriage and become a running joke throughout the rest of the series as it also made for his third divorce overall.

Question 33

What is the name of the coffee shop where the friends spend their time?

Other than Monica's apartment, the six friends spend most of their time at this coffee house, even in the middle of a work day. It's iconic setting held some of the most memorable moments from the series, and even employed Rachel and Joey at one point as their waiting staff. The name of the business has a great play on words from one of New York City's most well known landmarks in Manhattan. Hardcore Friends fans should know the answer.

Question 34

What was the number on Monica's apartment door in season one?

Monica was the longest lasting tenant of the massive and colorful Manhattan apartment. This would be the setting for most of the show's episodes and each friend had a key to come and go when they pleased. While many of us dreamed of living here, in reality this apartment would likely cost us an arm and a leg. Not many people know this, but the apartment number changed in the later seasons, as did Joey's, but if you are a hardcore fan you would know the original number.

Question 35

What was the number on Monica's apartment door in the later seasons?

You didn't think we would forget, did you? By now you know Monica's apartment number changed after season one. In keeping with continuity the writers and set directors also changed the number on Joey and Chandler's apartment as well. Not many people have picked up on this subtle change over the course of the series, but it's there as plain as day, although it's never been completely explained as to why the change was made.
