Although this dog is terrified of pretty much everything, he must overcome this basic fear and focus instead on protecting his owners from a variety of paranormal enemies. Although they live on a secluded farm, that doesn't offer them protection from the spirits that seem to pop up in every episode. The dog at the center of the action never gets credit for his various deeds of heroism, but at least he keeps his owners safe. That has to be worth something.
