As far as romantic comedies go, this film was nothing special although it did help us occupy a few hours. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days hit the cinemas in 2003. It was directed by Donald Petrie and it starred Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson as the lead characters, Ben Berry and Andie Anderson. Mamma Mia! is a famous jukebox musical that was directed by Phyllida Lloyd. It starred a great number of skilled Hollywood actors including Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Julie Walters, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski, Dominic Cooper, and of course, Amanda Seyfried (in fact, it was this movie that turned Seyfried into a Hollywood A-lister pretty much overnight). The plot of this film focuses on Sophie, a woman who is about to marry the man of her dreams. However, she desperately wishes to be walked down the aisle by her father. Manchester by the Sea falls under the genre of drama film. It was released a few years ago, or, to be more specific, in 2016. Kenneth Lonergan wrote and directed this movie whereas Michelle Williams, Casey Affleck, Kyle Chandler, Gretchen Mol, and Lucas Hedges starred in it. The plot of this movie centers on a man named Lee Chandler, who returns home after his brother passes away and leaves him the sole guardian of his nephew. According to Wikipedia, Baby Driver stars the talented actor Ansel Elgort as a young getaway driver who has a passion for music and whose biggest goal is to get away from a life of crime. Obviously, Elgort was not the only actor to be featured in this film. Other actors such as Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm, Eiza González, Lily James, Jamie Foxx, and Jon Bernthal also made an appearance.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

500 Days of Summer is a romantic comedy-drama film that came out exactly a decade ago, back in 2009. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel were cast as the lead characters. Gordon-Levitt played the role of Tom, a greeting card writer whereas Deschanel portrayed his girlfriend Summer. After Summer breaks up with Tom, Tom is thrown completely off-guard. He reminisces about their mutual past in an attempt to understand where their relationship went wrong. Brooklyn is a romantic drama film that hit the cinemas fairly recently, in 2015. It was directed by John Crowley and like so many other famous movies, was also based on a novel of the same name (that was written by Colm Tóibín). Brooklyn starred a talented cast which included Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, Domhnall Gleeson, Julie Walters, and Jim Broadbent. According to Wikipedia, the plot of this film follows Eilis Lace, an immigrant from Ireland who finds herself navigating Brooklyn in the 1950s.
Dumb and Dumber
If you're into comedies you've without a doubt seen Dumb and Dumber (and probably not once but several times!) This ridiculously funny movie was released back in the mid-'90s, and to be more specific, in 1994. It starred Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as two best friends, Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne. Lloyd and Harry decide to go on a cross-country trip to Colorado so as to return a briefcase full of money, not realizing that the money in the briefcase is ransom money (Wikipedia).
Midnight in Paris
Midnight in Paris is a fantasy comedy film that was written and directed by the skilled Hollywood director Woody Allen. Set in Paris, this movie centers on a man named Gil Pender (portrayed by Owen Wilson). Gil is a screenwriter who can't help but finally acknowledge the insurmountable differences that exist between him and his materialistic fiance (played by Rachel McAdams). These differences are further highlighted when he ends up traveling back in time and meeting famous writers of yesteryear (Wikipedia).
As far as movies go, Goodfellas is a classic which is why we'll be very surprised if anyone goes ahead and presses the second option (i.e., "Haven't seen it"). That being said, if you haven't seen it yet, then you're in for a treat! Goodfellas is a crime movie that was directed by Martin Scorsese. It is quite old. Indeed, it was released almost 30 years ago, all the way back in 1990. The plot centers on Henry Hill, a mob associate who rises through the ranks but then ends up in the Witness Protection Program (Wikipedia).
Wonder Woman is a famous superhero movie that was released two years ago, back in 2017. It is the actually the fourth movie in the DC Extended Universe. In this movie, Wonder Woman (played by the talented actress Gal Gadot) sets out to stop World War I, thinking that it was started by none other than Ares, the enemy of Amazons. Apart from Gadot this film also starred Chris Pine, Danny Huston, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, and Elena Anaya (Wikipedia).
Lady Bird is a comedy-drama film that came out in 2017. It was directed by Greta Gerwig and its starred Saoirse Ronan, Tracy Letts, Laurie Metcalf, Beanie Feldstein, Lucas Hedges, Timothée Chalamet, Lois Smith, and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Lady Bird is set in the early 00's in California and focuses on the relationship between a high school senior and her mother. According to Wikipedia, Time magazine chose this engaging movie as one of the best films of the year.
Joaquin Phoenix was cast as Theodore in Her, a 2013 science fiction drama film that was directed by Spike Jonze. Theodore is a sensitive man who works as a personal letter writer. After he divorces his wife he becomes obsessed with a new operating system that is marketed as a unique entity in its own right. Over time Theodore and his operating machine named Samantha (voiced by Scarlett Johansson according to Wikipedia) form a deep friendship and before long this friendship turns into love.
Yorgos Lanthimos directed this period black comedy film that hit the cinemas only last year, in 2018. The Favorite is set in 18th century England and focuses on the relationship between two cousins, Sarah and Abigail. Both Sarah and Abigail compete against one another in the hopes of becoming Queen Anne's court favorites. According to Wikipedia, The Favorite is somewhat based on real-life events. Upon its release, this movie became a box office success. Not that we expected otherwise. After all, it did star quite a few talented Hollywood actors, including Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz.
Will Smith, Eva Mendes, Amber Valletta, Kevin James, Michael Rapaport, and Adam Arkin are some of the actors that appeared in Hitch, a romantic comedy movie that came out in 2005. According to Wikipedia, Smith played the role of Alex "Hitch" Hitchens in this movie, a dating coach who helps his clients succeed in matters of the heart. However, his own advice and techniques prove to be useless when he tries to woo Sara Melas, a tabloid reporter and the woman of his dreams.
A Quiet Place
John Krasinski not only directed A Quiet Place, a post-apocalyptic science fiction thriller film that was released last year, in 2018, but also starred in it too. Of course, Krasinski was not the only actor to make an appearance in this movie. Other actors, such as Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe were also given plenty of screen time. This movie follows a family that tries to make it in a post-apocalyptic world that has been taken over by extraterrestrial creatures. While these extraterrestrial creatures can't see, they do have an excellent sense of hearing (Wikipedia).

Gary Ross directed The Hunger Games, a science fiction adventure film that was released in 2012. This movie was actually based on a novel of the same name that was written by Suzanne Collins. It is the first installment in the popular The Hunger Games movie franchise. This film is set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future, and to be even more specific, in the country of Panem. This country is made up of 12 districts and each year a girl and a boy from each district compete in The Hunger Games (Wikipedia).
Set in the 1970s, Inherent Vice focuses on a private investigator named Larry "Doc" Sportello (portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix) who is taken aback when his former lover, Shasta, stops by his office and asks for his help. It turns out that Shasta's current boyfriend is in potential trouble: his wife might try to commit him to a mental hospital. Things get even weirder when Shasta and her boyfriend disappear, leaving "Doc" to solve the case all on his own (Wikipedia).
Martin Scorsese directed Shutter Island, a neo-noir psychological thriller that starred Leonardo DiCaprio as U.S. Marshal Edward "Teddy" Daniels. After one of the patients at a mental hospital on Shutter Island goes missing, Teddy is sent to investigate the facility. Apart from DiCaprio, Shutter Island also featured Mark Ruffalo, Michelle Williams, Ben Kingsley, Emily Mortimer, Max von Sydow, and Patricia Clarkson. According to Wikipedia, this movie did fairly well. In fact, it was even chosen as one of the best films of the year by the National Board of Review.

If you've seen Gone Girl you obviously know the answer to this question. David Fincher directed this 2014 psychological thriller film that was based on a novel that was written by Gillian Flynn (Wikipedia).
Set in 1950's Manhattan, Carol focuses on the romantic relationship between two women: Therese Belivet, portrayed by Rooney Mara, and Carol, played by Cate Blanchett. Their love has some pretty serious consequences though. Todd Haynes directed this drama film that was released in 2015. Like so many other movies, this one was also based on a novel (which was written by Patricia Highsmith and which was originally titled The Price of Salt but was later republished as Carol according to Wikipedia).
The Greatest Showman
The Greatest Showman is a musical drama film that came out two years ago, in 2017. It was directed by Michael Gracey (it was his directorial debut according to Wikipedia) and it starred Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Rebecca Ferguson. This movie takes a look at how the show business was born and the man behind it all. The Greatest Showman was praised by the audience. However, film critics were divided: some loved it whereas others thought it shallow.

Set in the late 1970s, The Nice Guys focuses on two men, Holland March (a private eye) and Jackson Healy (a hired enforced), who become unlikely partners after the mysterious disappearance of a woman. The talented Coen brothers not only wrote and directed this film but also produced and edited it as well! Inside Llewyn Davis is a black comedy tragedy. It was released in 2013 and it starred Oscar Isaac as the titular character, Llewyn Davis. Llewyn is a struggling folk singer who just can't seem to make a name for himself. He tries his best anyway, even though his personal life is falling apart in the meantime. Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, F., and Justin Timberlake are some of the other actors that were featured in this movie (Wikipedia).

The movie is set in the early 1970's and centers of the life of a housekeeper who works for a middle-class family. It starred Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira.

Winter's Bone is a mystery drama film. It was directed by Debra Granik and it starred Jennifer Lawrence as the lead character. Indeed, it was this film that first brought Lawrence well-deserved fame. She played the role of a poor teenager who tries to locate her father in the hopes that he will help their family from getting evicted. Of course, Lawrence was not the only actor to be featured in this movie. John Hawkes, Kevin Breznahan, Garret Dillahunt, Dale Dickey, Tate Taylor, and Sheryl Lee also made an appearance.
