Let us think about a classic villain for a moment. What are the essential characteristics and attributes that a bad guy (or bad girl) simply must have in order to more than just a nuisance?
Well firstly, they must have sinister intentions. Their motives must be simply dripping with envy, jealousy, and greed. They have to be in it for something, even if it's just because they hate the world. A classic bad guy should also have an attribute that instills fear in other people - sometimes this might just be through his deeds but it could also be that he has some kind of power. This could be in the form of a superpower (that he uses for evil) or some other form of power like perhaps he's well-connected or very rich.
But there's something that separates the villains of the world and that is style. Sure, they can take over the world, but can they look and act cool while they are doing it? Do they have that x-factor, that something special that lets everyone know that they are to be respected and feared? Style is everything and some villains just don't have it.

When it comes to cunning villains we'd need to look hard to find one quite as sneaky as Loki. He was a smooth operator and he knew how to manipulate but did that give him style? Did Loki from the MCU have style or was he just a run-of-the-mill villain?

In Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin, Uma Thurman plays the role of Poison Ivy, a wicked botanist who uses plant venoms and pheromones to control others and carry out her evil plans. In this movie, she teamed up with Dr. Freeze. Did this character have style or was she too over-the-top?

When it comes to superpowers X-Men's Magneto had one of the most incredible abilities; the ability to control metal objects using only his mind. But when he used this ability for evil purposes he wreaked absolute havoc. But the question is: did he do it in style?

When people think very highly of themselves we often say they have a "big head". Well, this Alice in Wonderland villain was the embodiment of that description because her head was almost as big as her ego! She was cold-hearted and ruthless, especially when things didn't go her way.

Aro was one of the three leaders of the powerful Volturi clan in the Twilight Saga. His special gift was that he was able to read a person's thoughts just by touching them. The fear of losing his power status drove this villain hard but did he have style?

When we think of villains we usually think of dark brooding characters, not older ladies all clad in pink right? But don't let appearances fool you, this was one woman you didn't want to tangle with. This one-time headmistress of Hogwarts knew how to make a stir but did she do it stylishly?

In The Matrix, Agent Smith was an Agent of the system and his job was to locate and eliminate threats, threats like Morpheus and his crew, who knew the truth. He's a worthy adversary for the hero, Neo as he was almost invincible. But did Smith have style? You tell us.

We know this one thing for sure: if we ever come across a suitcase of money in the middle of nowhere, we're going to just leave it there because the last thing we need in our lives is a man like Anton Chigurh chasing us down. Rate the villain of No Country for Old Men for style:

We all knew a girl a little bit like Regina when we were at school right? One of those girls who was so self-obsessed she basically oblivious to everything else going on around her. But we'll give this to Regina - she did manage to look good while being bad!

Queen Ravenna (Snow White and the Huntsman) couldn't bear the thought of anyone being more powerful and beautiful than she was and she went to extraordinary lengths to try and secure her own immortality. While most villains are clear intentions. They want to gain more power or more money or get revenge. But the Joker in The Dark Knight wasn't looking for any of these things. His reason for causing havoc was simple: he just wanted to watch the world burn. Did he have style?

The Cat (played by Anne Hathaway) in The Dark Knight Rises was a thief who only over stole from those who had more than enough. She was apt at flying under the radar and had an impressive range of cat-burgling (and fight) skills. She did look good committing her crimes but was she stylish?

The Riddler (Batman Forever) wanted to take revenge on Batman by becoming the most powerful man in Gotham City, using a mind control device. He was more than a little bit quirky and his dress sense left a lot to be desired but would you say that this villain had style?
Was Hans Gruber a villain with style?
Hans Gruber might have succeeded with his evil plans in Die Hard if it wasn't for John McClane. He was a villain with clear intentions and a well thought out plan but the one thing he never accounted for was an off-duty cop. Did this villain have style?

In Batman Begins Ra's al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson) was Bruce Wayne's one-time mentor turned sworn enemy. He vows to take vengeance on Bruce for turning against him and he came close to destroying Gotham City. But was he a villain with style or just an old mercenary looking for a fight?
Did Le Chiffre (Casino Royale) have style?
The villain James Bond came up against in Casino Royale wasn't afraid to go to extreme measures to keep his enemies away from him but when you think about the dangerous types of people he was associating with, that isn't really too surprising. Did Le Chiffre have style?
Did Lord Voldemort have style?
Lord Voldemort was a classic villain in terms of motives. He had his mind set on world domination and wanted to rid the world of wizarding from Muggles forever. His obsession with pure-blood wizards led him down a dark path but there must have been something about him that made others follow him. Was it his style?
Was Cutler Beckett a stylish bad guy?
This Pirates of the Caribbean character certainly knew how to move in the right circles and how to appear powerful. He was quick to judge and had a sharp tongue but he was also usually the first to run away when things got too intense. Did Cutler Beckett have style?

Javier Bardem has made quite a name for himself portraying villains. He was scary good in No Country for Old Men and played the role of Bond villain Raoul Silva in Skyfall perfectly. His plans were meticulous, ruthless and well thought out, but was he a stylish villain? You tell us.

Did Ajax (Deadpool) have style?
Love him or hate him we have to admit that without this character Wade would never have become Deadpool. He was the one who forced Wade's mutant genes to come out but the way he did it was quite cruel. We know he was a villain but whether or not he was a stylish one is up to you to decide.

We tend to trust doctors because usually, these are people who want to help and heal others, not cause them more suffering. But that wasn't the case with Dr. Crane from Batman Begins who used his patients for cruel experiments. Was this evil character stylish or just plain psycho?
