Take This Test And We’ll Tell You Which Stranger Things Villain You Are!

Stranger Things is a sci-fi, psychological thriller centered around four middle school boys set in the 1980s in Hawkins, Indiana. And luckily for all you Netflix fans, this series is on Netflix. Throughout the series we watch our protagonists unlock the mystery surrounding their small town, supposedly one where nothing ever happens. That is, until Will Byers goes missing. Now his best friends Dustin, Lucas, and Mike try to unravel the strange happenings that have been plaguing Hawkins. Along their search, they encounter a strange girl with a buzzed head whom they nickname El because of the “011” tattooed on her forearm. Mike especially takes a liking to her and hides her in the basement of his own home.

It isn’t until later on in season one that we find out Will is taken by the Shadow Monster or Mindflayer or whatever you want to call it. At the same time, we find out who El is running from. Early in the season we are introduced to her father, Dr. Brenner, who conducts lab experiments on her super powers as if she is just a lab rat. Thankfully, she escapes.

And what’s with that venus flytrap-like character? Those creatures, called Demogorgon (or Demo-dogs if you’re like Dustin), lurk around hidden underground network of Hawkins, Indiana. So, which villain from Stranger Things are you most like: Demogorgon, Dr. Brenner, or the Mindflayer?

Question 1

Who’s your favorite character?

You gotta admit: these middle schoolers are pretty bright and fearless when it comes to protecting each other. Don’t you wish you had friends like that? El is definitely the most bad-ass of the group, but it’s a bit unfair since she has god-like superpowers. Dustin is the toothless, curly-headed guy who switches between the group’s comic relief character and smart detective. However, Mike is (for the most part) the group leader with Will temporarily out of the picture. Lucas is your typical down-to-earth, “I’ll believe it, when I see it” kind of guy.

Question 2

What’s the coolest superpower in your opinion?

Some of these villains in Stranger Things are downright scary. Take for example, Dr. Brenner’s super smarts, the Shadow monster’s ability to possess minds inside a collective consciousness, and the Demogorgons mouth-head thing. It’s all pretty freaky and weird, right? But which of the following options would be your top pick for a superpower? Remember what Peter Parker’s uncle said: with great power comes great responsibility. Let’s just hope you use your superpower for the side of good and justice and not evil.

Question 3

Out of the following, what’s your favorite treat?

This may seem like a random question to those who don’t know the show very well, or if you are forgetting a few minor details. Without giving too much away, someone in this show really likes this type of food. I mean, REALLY likes them. So much, in fact, that she (or he) steals them from a local diner. Another character in the series gets along quite well with one of the shadow monster’s minions and feeds it treats throughout the series. Ironically, they develop a special bond which comes in handy later on.

Question 4

How do you watch Stranger Things?

Are you a lone wolf who likes to binge watch Netflix in their underwear? Or do you only watch if your best friend is begging you to watch or is it your boyfriend/girlfriend’s favorite show so you said you’ll watch it with them? Whatever the case may be, this result is very telling. Think back to the monsters in Stranger Things, both season one and two. Let’s see if you can guess the logic behind these answer choices. If not, then answer this as truthfully as you can.

Question 5

How do you like the temperature in your room while you sleep?

Some people require a wintry hell to sleep in and a bunch of sheets wrapped around them--not my cup of tea. And some other people don’t really care. Then there are some who like it nice and hot. Indicating which you prefer is a very telling sign of which villain you are most like in the series. Remember that scene with Will where he asks his mom to make the room as cold as possible? Winona Ryder’s character (Will’s mom) gives in to his demands, but is it really Will she is answering to?

Question 6

Which adjective best describes you?

Later on in the series, El has flashbacks to when Dr. Martin Brenner (“her father”) tries to force her to telekinetically harm a cat. When she refuses, he locks her in solitary confinement. Some dad, eh? Her past experiences make her especially fearful of adults. No wonder she tries to stop her friends from telling Mike’s mom about her. Thus far, we’ve only been able to communicate with Will via the ouiji board Will’s mom makes out of Christmas lights.

Question 7

What’s your favorite kind of companion?

Joyce rips away at the wall of her house to discover her son stuck inside the membrane of a big organic monster thing. And later on she uses an ax to hack away at her house to just find her front porch and no Will. Things seem particular strange when Joyce and her other son, Jonathan, are shown a dead body that they are told is Will. But his mom insists it is not her son because her son has a certain birthmark on his arm. This cadaver turns out to be a fake when we see the small town’s detective, Hopper, tear it apart to find it filled with cotton.

Question 8

What’s your favorite method of transportation?

Pick the very first thing that comes to mind after reading the following choices. Don’t think too much about them, just answer and proceed to the next question. Thinking too much about the answer choices will ruin the fun. So back to Stranger Things--is El the good guy or bad guy? Or, hey, is she both? Humans are kind of like that--neither good or bad. She does love her friends though. I’ll give her that. Justifiably, they are still suspicious of her in the early episodes. I mean, she did open the gate to the Upside Down, didn’t she? Well, just fyi, she isn’t one of the quiz results. I mean, she’s just so gosh-darn cute!

Question 9

What did you think of Dustin’s pet, Dart?

Dustin finds something in the trash that he takes in as his own pet. He doesn’t realize it at the time. He even takes it to school and it doesn’t occur to him that thing might be evil until Will points it out in class. The thing molts and runs away before the boys can stop it. This friendship becomes useful to the group when they are looking around inside the organic monster’s stomach and find Dart now a fully grown demogoron.

Question 10

What game/movie do you relate to the most?

Obviously, the Duffer brothers took ideas from other fictitious works. Think of the interdimensional creatures in the show and notice how they are pretty similar to Lovecraft’s ideas. A man who was ahead of his times, I might add. But they didn’t stop there. The Demogorgon idea is not a new idea. Hmmm where have we seen that character before? Hopefully you aren’t sure because then you can answer this question without any meta-like business. Let’s see who you are based on the following options.

Question 11

How schizophrenic are you?

Schizophrenia is a split from reality. Maybe you see things, maybe you don't. Maybe you hear things. After Will Byers was rescued from the Upside Down, he continues to have visions of when we was stuck there. In other words, Will becomes totally schizo. He has visions and he is able to draw the entire tunnel network of the Upside Down in his family's household. The rest of the characters in the show appear totally in check with reality. Poor Will.

Question 12

What kind of friend are you?

Friendship is a theme that is intensely paraded around in Stranger Things. But wanna know who earns a trophy for worst friend ever? That would be Nancy Byers. I mean, it took her how long to finally confess to Barb’s parents that she hadn’t seen Barb in school for like a week? That’s so crazy. Now you can always be assured that El will always have your back. And flipping cars into midair is always a bonus friend point, right?

Question 13

What's your favorite kind of weather?

Remember all that electrical interference seen with the Christmas lights Joyce put up? Well, in season two that electrical interference transforms into a full on thunderstorm. The visual effects producers of the show consulted a media artist for depicting the Shadow Monster. The artist drew inspiration from volcanoes, tornadoes, and lightning storms. More specifically, they took inspiration from the natural disasters in South America. Or are you an all sunshine and rainbows person? After all that time in solitary confinement I think El could use some sunshiny days.

Question 14

What's your ultimate goal in life?

Dr. Martin Brenner is the only evil scientist in the show--he took a girl from her mother for crying out loud. But he isn't the only smart guy in the show. Remember Mr. Martin? He's the one who explained the mechanics of the Upside Down. Essentially there is a huge high energy spacetime tear that caused their dimension and the dimension of the Upside Down to connect forming the gate. What would you do with this knowledge and if you knew where the gate was? Hopefully for good things only!

Question 15

What was your favorite subject in school?

It's funny how we only get to see Dustin, Lucas, Will, and Mike in class like two times during the series. Mostly, these kids are off running around or on their bikes trying to unravel the mystery of the Upside Down. Anyone probably wishes their childhood was as exciting or as adventurous as the lives of these four main characters. So not fair. Oh well, at least we live in a world where Shadow Monsters aren't a thing and Demogorgons aren't running around biting people's faces off.

Question 16

What's your favorite kind of art?

Will Byers seems to be the creative one in the Byers family. In one episode, he can be seen fiercely coloring page after page the underground tunnel network which is the Upside Down. The kid sure knows how to draw a great rendition of the Shadow Monster. For a kid's drawing, it's pretty terrifying. His brother Jonathan is the family photographer. He was actually able to capture a picture of the Shadow Monster and a picture of Barb before she was taken.

Question 17

What was your favorite game as a little kid?

The kids in this show sure love their Dungeons and Dragons. The Duffer brothers probably enjoyed this game, too, otherwise they wouldn't have based the show's bad guys off of it. By the way, that final scene in season one of the last episode was done very nicely. Everything they said or did had some interesting connotations to it. It was a great cliffhanger for the next season. Did you all watch season two by the way? Let’s hope you did.

Question 18

What's your favorite genre of movies?

These days, people just seem to like horror flicks and horror series. The same people who watch Stranger Things probably have binge-watched American Horror Story, as well. They've probably already seen the newest Carrie movie by Stephen King that came out this year, too. But what do you like besides horror and science fiction media? So answer this question to the best of your ability to help us determine which villain you are from Stranger Things. You might be surprised by the results.

Question 19

What's your favorite social network?

Can you imagine what life must have been like before Facebook? Well, all the characters from Stranger Things can. Who knows! Maybe our distractions with social media direct our attention away from our own Upside Down in real life? Nah, just kidding. Consider the following options and their implications on the people around you. Maybe you'll see the parallels between these social media networks and the villains from Stranger Things. If not, no biggie. Just answer the question as truthfully as possible.

Question 20

What illness are you most likely to have?

We all get sick from time to time. Some people suffer from migraines, others suffer from stomach aches. Will likes to freeze his little butt off when he's sleeping and doesn't seem to get sick from it. Pretty weird. Well, that's just because he was possessed by the Shadow Monster. Oh, and did you see that gross slug thing he vomited in the bathroom? Little did he know, it was a baby demogorgon which Dustin adopted as his own pet.

Question 21

Which of the following would you rather be?

Will was the head honcho of his four man group before he was taken by the Shadow Monster. Then it came Mike followed by a tie between Lucas and Dustin. There was that one precious scene where Mike told Dustin that he was his best friend (along with Will). Dustin was visibly flattered by that comment, and he almost didn't believe Mike at first. But it's true--there should be no ranking in terms of friends (or at least don't let the rest know if you have a best friend).

Question 22

Do you have any stuffed animals in your car?

This may seem like a really random question but bear with me. Personally, I don't have any stuffed animals in mine, but I might bring one with me next time. Maybe a stuffed animal demodog would be the perfect Christmas present for you. Or even a bunch of beanie babies. The kids in Stranger Things were too old to be playing with dolls or action figures. Good thing because who would want to watch a series centered around little kids? Not me!

Question 23

Would you go into the Upside Down if you had the chance?

Surprisingly, only Will and a few other characters have been inside the Upside Down. Thank god because that place is borderline disgusting. Did you see those little fart machines on the cave walls? I felt so bad for Hopper when one got directly in his face. So I personally would not go into the Upside Down but hey maybe you do! It's kind of a gross place to be but still it would be quite the adventure. Don’t you think?

Question 24

Do you own a pet?

Did you know that Dustin used to own a cat? That is, before the baby demodogs got to it...Its name was Mews. And it was the beloved cat of Dustin's mom, whom we didn't get to see mourn the death of her cat. Heck, Dustin barely looked traumatized by the whole ordeal. Instead, he took in the very thing that ate his cat as his brand new pet. I'll never understand Dustin. But hey, that friendship paid off when his pet demodorgon didn't eat him and his friends alive when they were in the Upside Down.

Question 25

Are you afraid of the dark?

These children seem absolutely fearless when they are trying to find the gate to the Upside Down. Sure, no big deal, just looking for monsters and such. That was sarcasm. I guess they were fearless because they had El with them. She proves to equally match the Shadow Monster in terms of superpowers and strength which we see in Season 2. This tells us there is some sort of relationship between the two of them. Hopefully El is truely a good person and not another monster from the Upside Down.
