In the Star Wars saga, there is an extremely powerful list of antagonists throughout the storyline known as the Sith Lords. The Sith Lords were created by Sith Lord Darth Bane to begin an organization that would utilize the Dark Side of the Force. Darth Bane founded the organization approximately 1000 years before the Battle of Yavin to replace the Brotherhood of Darkness. He would put into place the Rule of Two as an Order to always keep in place a Master and an Apprentice. This would allow The Sith to always be able to teach the Apprentice and keep Order at the same time.
Sith Lords were not prominent on the big screen until The Phantom Menace was in theatres.
