Surviving This Scary Movie Quiz Won't Be Easy. Who Can Last The Longest?

We all love to watch horror movies, but would we all love to actually be in a horror movie? Well, now, that one's definitely up for debate. We may enjoy having the daylights scared out of us every once in a while, but that doesn't mean we envy the characters in these films. And yet, even though we may not want to be these characters, we all secretly believe that if we were a character in one of these horror flicks, we would be one of the smart ones who got away from the insane clowns, the bloodthirsty ghosts, the vengeful vampire, etc, etc.

We'd all like to think that we'd be able to rely on our razor-sharp wit, our cat-like reflexes and our powerful instincts to get us out of these supernatural scrapes, but would we really be able to make them but if push came to shove? Look, fingers crossed the world doesn't go all post-apocalyptic on us. We sincerely hope we never need to know if we could make it through a horror film scenario. But since pretending is fun, let's all play a little game. Try, just try to make it through this sequence of horror film events, and we'll reveal who can last the longest. Deal?

Question 1

Choose a haunted house

The way we figure it, the best way to start any horror story is by visiting a haunted house. Maybe it's the two-story Victorian mansion a few blocks up the road, or maybe it's the mid-century modern house a couple doors down that just can't seem to keep the same tenants for more than a few months at a time. Pick the haunted house that sounds spookiest to you.

Question 2

What's the legend behind this haunted house?

Haunted houses aren't haunted for no reason, there's got to be some kind of back story to account for these mysterious occurrences. Surely somebody knows something that might help explain just what the heck is the deal with this strange location. Ask around the community to see what you can find out. What's the story about this haunted house?

Question 3

Pick a friend to go with

Ghost hunting, exploring haunted locations, delving deep into the supernatural. All of that is well and good, but it's no fun to go it alone. Also, to be completely honest, the prospect of venturing into the vast, potentially violent and vicious unknown is pretty scary. It just makes sense to take a friend along with you. Who will you pick?

Question 4

What time of day is it?

Ambiance plays a big role in any movie, but it's especially important in a horror flick. You want to set just the right tone, otherwise the whole thing could be thrown off kilter. Add a whole new level of creepy to this supernatural escapade. Choose the spookiest time of day to go ghoul searching.

Question 5

What day is it?

The time of day that you go a-ghost hunting is super important, but do you know what else is important? Eating healthy and exercising regularly. No, no, we mean, the day. The day that this haunting takes place is important. What notoriously spooky day does this little horror movie escapade take place on?

Question 6

What give this house such a creepy vibe?

Great! Now it's time to venture inside. Aside from the obvious ghost story or local legend pertaining to this house, just what is it that makes it appear so sinister? Does this house look the part of a classic horror movie haunted abode, or is it deceptively peaceful and serene? What makes this house so...eerie?

Question 7

Shoot, the power is out! What's the next best move?

Uh-oh, it looks like we've run into horror movie cliché numero uno. You've finally summoned the courage to enter the haunted house of your choice but, wouldn't you know it? The power is off! Hey, it's no big surprise. Why would the owner want to pay for electricity in an abandoned house? But still, the lack of power is unsettling. What's your next best move?

Question 8

Time to do some exploring

Well, it looks like you're going to tough it out and stay in this creepy house, in spite of the fact that it has no electricity. Guess the only thing you can do now is take a look around. It's time to explore this eerie place and find out what sort of secrets it's got hiding inside. Pick a place to look around.

Question 9

It feels like someone's watching...

You've only been in this old abandoned house for a few minutes, but already you can see why it has the reputation for being haunted. It's not just the home's appearance that makes it so strange, it's the hair-raising vibe that you get just by walking around that really puts you on edge. You get the feeling someone's watching you.

Question 10

What happens on its own?

Sometimes, ghosts like to do things that could easily be dismissed as a coincidence. If horror movies are to be believed, then ghosts are big fans of making things move all on their own—things that aren't supposed to be able to move all on their own. As you and your fellow ghost tracker explore, what object do you witness move seemingly by itself?

Question 11

There's something scary in the basement. What is it?

This house is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, and there's still plenty to explore. You find a door on the first floor, and after jiggling the knob for a few minutes trying to wrench it open, you see a flight of stairs leading to a basement. Ah, basements. Notoriously creepy. What do you find down there that makes this place even more NOPE-ier?

Question 12

What does a disembodied voice say?

Gasp! Did you hear that?! Logic says that sound you just heard was probably the wind, or maybe even the house settling. After all, this place is old and run-down, it's not out of the realm of possibility that it would be a little creaky. But then again, it did sound kind of like a voice, and it sounded like it said...

Question 13

Encounter a possessed object. What is it?

Another thing that makes this joint so spooky, aside from the disembodied voices, is that it looks like the people who used to live here just walked out and never came back. All of their stuff is still here, and while rummaging through everything, you find something that hints as to why the family might've left so abruptly. It's a possessed object. What is it?

Question 14

An apparition appears! Who is it?

Whoa, dude! Did you see that? It was a ghost! Well, this *is* a horror movie simulation, so seeing apparitions should really come as no surprise, but still, this is kind of a big deal, you know? You and your friend both happened to get a gander at this ghostly figure. What did they look like?

Question 15

Time to make a run for it! But, where to hide?

Seeing a spirit is unsettling to say the least, and that's at the best of times! But to make matters worse, it looks like the ghost you and your buddy just witnessed is a little, shall we say, peeved the heck off. This vengeful spirit is hot on your trail, and you need to find a place to run to to hide. Where is it?

Question 16

The car won't start. What now?

Alright, you know when you're not wanted! You and your friend have overstayed your welcome, the ghosts aren't too happy with you for it, so you know it's time to take your leave. You make a beeline for your car, stick the key in the ignition, and that's when you find horror movie cliché number two: the car won't start. So...what're you gonna do now?

Question 17

Pick a weapon

Welp, it looks like the only way you're going to get out of this place is on foot. But, since this is a horror movie scenario, it only makes sense to assume that other evil supernatural forces are tailing you, and will continue to do so no matter where you go. Before ditching, take a look around and find a weapon.

Question 18

Pick a place to contact the spirits

Since this is a horror movie, and since you're a character in this horror movie, you need to follow up your stupid decision to visit a haunted house with a string of other decisions of equal or greater stupid value. In other words, it's time to flee this abandoned house and go to a new haunted location to contact the spirits. Where?

Question 19

What do the spirits have to say?

Now that you're all (un)settled in your new haunted location, it's time to break out the Ouija board or the spirit box or the EMF reader or whatever other kind of ghost communication tool tickles your fancy, and break the ice with the spirits. After a few minutes of asking questions, the spirits finally come through. What do they say?

Question 20

Take cover in the woods. Where's the best place to hide out?

So, it turned out that the spirits in the second location weren't any more welcoming than the spirits in the haunted house. Surprise, surprise. Well, anyway, it looks like it's time to pack your stuff up and move on, and you know what that means. It means it's time to run into horror movie cliché number three: flee into the woods. Where's the best place to hide out?

Question 21

Uh-oh! There are monsters in here, too! What are they?

Aw, cripes, would ya look at that? It appears that this forest also happens to be infested with supernatural malevolent creatures—but now, we've got a good news/bad news situation on our hands. The good news is, these new creatures are not disembodied spirits. The bad news is, they're just as angry and just as scary. What are they?

Question 22

The monster's closing in! What to do?

All of the running that you've been doing, at this point, you're really feeling the burn. It's too bad there isn't some kind of trendy supernatural-themed workout routine, like ghost zumba or something, because if such a thing existed, we might actually be in shape enough to run from real monsters. Anyway, looks like the creepy creepers are closing in. What to do?

Question 23

Stumble upon an abandoned cottage. What's inside?

Running from these new creatures, you zig zag through the trees and cross a stream or two, searching for something, anything to hide in, and that's when you stumble upon an abandoned cottage. You hide inside and watch as the creatures pass by, still searching for you. You finally think you can breathe easier, but just when you let your guard down, you find something else to run from. What is it?

Question 24

There's something lurking in the garden

The cottage isn't nearly as empty as its exterior would have you believe, so you high-tail it out of there and make your way back outside, figuring it's safe to do so now that the forest monsters have gone. You bump into a gate that leads to a garden behind the cottage and start searching for weapons, food, anything that might help you, but, of course, something isn't right here, either. What do you find?

Question 25

Try to cross a ghost bridge

After fleeing from this new terror, you and your friend decide your best bet is to make your way through the woods again, but this time, in a different direction. By this point, after having been chased by so many paranormal creatures, your psychic senses are pretty well developed, so when you stumble upon a bridge, you immediately sense that it's haunted (look, we know that reasoning is sketchy, but just roll with it, alright?). What do you do now?

Question 26

There's a ghost town full of monsters! What kind?

Whether you decided to take the ghost bridge or you were able to somehow find a path around, you finally find your way to a town. But! This is no regular town, this is...a ghost town. Since it looks like you've got no dice and, therefore, nothing left to lose, you decide to take a look around. As it turns out, this place isn't empty at all; it's infested with monsters. What kind?

Question 27

Hide in an abandoned building. What kind?

Sheesh! You and your friend just can't catch a break in this made up horror flick situation, can you? It's just one thing after another and, frankly, you're getting to the point where you just want to tell these ferocious monsters to back off—so that's exactly what you do. But, when they don't respond and continue to run toward you, you decide to hide from them in an abandoned building.

Question 28

What makes this place so ominous?

Of course, the place you've chosen to seek shelter in is just as bad as the places that you've been running from. But so far, the creepy things you've seen have been of the normal rather than the paranormal variety. Still, it's pretty spooky in here. What makes it feel so unsettling?

Question 29

What's behind that door?

You've been running for a while now and you're pretty exhausted. Since it seems like this place is infested with ordinary creepy crawlies, not bloodthirsty malevolent ones, you decide to hunker down here to rest and devise a plan. But just when you think you're safe, you hear a noise in another room. You tentatively open the door to find...

Question 30

Discover a tomb. What is found in this crypt?

Whew! That was a close call! It looks like there were no real monsters behind that door, but that door did lead you to another room, and it just so happens this room is a tomb! What are the odds, really? Well, you're here, you may as well look around. What do you find in this creepy crypt?

Question 31

Now zombies?! What to do now?

Time for horror movie cliché number...uh...well, we lost count. Anyway, in true horror movie stupid character move style, you decide to go against all reason and open the tomb. When you do, you immediately regret it because zombies start pouring out of there like roaches up a drain pipe. What do you do now?

Question 32

What kind of entity is found at an abandoned carnival?

Time to scoot again! With the zombies limping after you, you decide to head out of this abandoned building in search of a new place to hide. You make your way back through the abandoned town and come across an equally abandoned carnival—*always* a great place to hide from creepy creepers, right? Wrong! What kind of evil entity do you encounter here?

Question 33

Stop at a haunted playground. What happens?

Obviously, the only safe place to take refuge from a creepy abandoned carnival is a haunted playground! We mean, duh, come on, people (don't) use your heads! You make your way to an apparently abandoned playground, but it's clear from the get-go that things are a little hinky in this place. What tips you off?

Question 34

There are creepy kids. What makes them super duper scary?

This is a haunted playground. Naturally, the entities haunting it are little children—or demons masquerading as little children, it's hard to say. As we all know, kids in horror movies, especially the ghost kids, are notoriously disturbing, and these spirit kiddos are no different. What makes these children super duper scary?

Question 35

Time to call for back up. Who is it?

Alright, that is ENOUGH! You've had it up to here with the running, and you're just not going to do it anymore. You and your friend decide it's time to call in the big guns. It's time to get some help. You manage to find your way back to civilization, where you contact someone for help. Who is it?
