A lot of people turn to astrology when seeking self-understanding. This is a well-recognized practice. People have been looking for answers in the stars ever since we had eyes to see them. If you're seeking spiritual clarity, the gods of the zodiac are always there for you. But, keep in mind that there are many cosmic paths to enlightenment.
For instance, you can visit a monastery in Tibet, and spend several months in a silent retreat. All that time spent without speaking is good for the soul, apparently. Arbok and Weezing are, of course, Jesse and James's two Pokemon of choice during many of their confrontations with Ash, Misty and Brock. When you saw these two Poison-type 'mons in action, you no doubt had a favorite in mind. Which one was it?

Depending on your choice of starter Pokemon in Red and Blue, you might eventually end up with Ivysaur, Wartortle or Charmeleon as mid-level evolutions. We've decided to pit the latter two up against each other here. What do you think?

As you'll no doubt remember, Kabuto and Omanyte are the two Fossil Pokemon that you can obtain in the original Pokemon Red and Blue games once you present either the Dome or Helix fossil to a scientist in Pewter City. So, which did you pick - Dome or Helix?
Butterfree or Beedrill?
Everyone remembers shedding a single tear during the classic "Bye Bye, Butterfree" episode, when Ash was forced to say goodbye to his beloved Bug-type Pokemon so he could frolic along with the other Butterfrees in nature. Did that win you over, or do you prefer Beedrill?
Venusaur or Meganium?
Venusaur is the original fully evolved Grass starter from Pokemon Red and Blue, while Meganium was its placeholder in the second generation of the games, Pokemon Gold and Silver. Now that these two floral monsters are paired together, which is your fave?
Alakazam or Gengar?
Alakazam and Gengar are two original Pokemon that couldn't be obtained by traditional means in-game. Instead, you had to trade either a Kadabra or Haunter with a friend, and the Pokemon would evolve once the trade is over. Which fully evolved monster is your favorite?
Seadra or Starmie?
Seadra and Starmie are two classic Water-type Pokemon from the original roster of 151. Everyone remembers Starmie as one of Misty's feature party members, while Seadra made an assortment of appearances in epic battles throughout season 1 of the anime.
Mr. Mime or Wobbufet?
Even after so many generations of Pokemon, Mr. Mime, from the original 151, still remains one of the most bizarre monstrosities to have emerged from the Game Freak labs. Of course, Wobbufet is no slouch in its weirdness, either. Which of these do you like more?
Victreebel or Vileplume?
"Victory" is the name of Victreebel's game, but is that enough to give it the top spot over Vileplume in this showdown? These two wild, Grass/Poison-type Pokemon were classic generation 1 members, and you no doubt have your favorite between them.
Espeon or Umbreon?
Espeon and Umbreon were easily two of the coolest new Pokemon to emerge in the second generation of the games. After all these years have gone by, these beasts have remained just as sleek and fresh as they once were. Do you prefer the day- or night-time Eeveelution?
Electabuzz or Magmar?
Electabuzz and Magmar were often compared to each other in the first generation of the Pokemon games as two strong, wild Pokemon without any evolved or pre-evolved form. Of course, that changed in later generations. Which is your fave?
Ditto or Smeargle?
Ditto has the power to transform into any Pokemon that stands before it, while Smeargle can use literally any move that a Pokemon can possibly learn. They're both tricksters in their own right, but only one of them can be your pick here.
Snorlax or Slaking?
Now it's time for a battle of two gigantic, Normal-type beasts. You'll no doubt remember Snorlax in his role as a roadblock in Pokemon Red and Blue. Of course, you'll also recognize Slaking for his Truant nature, attacking only once every second turn. Which behemoth is best?
Gyarados or Lapras?
Gyarados is fierce and mighty, while Lapras is mystical and mysterious. This is a battle of preference, and not of power, remember that. In this battle to win your favor, which of these huge Water-type 'mons from the original roster of 151 gets your vote?
Donphan or Golem?
Donphan is an all-around solid Ground-type Pokemon who was introduced in the Gold and Silver games. Thing is, Donphan isn't anywhere near as solid as Golem, a Rock/Ground-type from the original games. Donphan has the type advantage, but does it win in your books?
Miltank or Tauros?
Let's take a break from this quiz for one minute to stroll through this ranch right here. Oh, look, a Tauros is about to charge down a Miltank. Well, since we're looking at it anyway, why don't you go ahead and tell us which of these mammalian Pokemon you like more?
Clefable or Wigglytuff?
Clefable and Wigglytuff are two classic Normal- turned Fairy-type Pokemon from the original roster of 151. Admittedly, Clefable is used much more widely in competitive play, but maybe that doesn't rob Wigglytuff of its edge here. What do you think?
Magikarp or Feebas?
Magikarp and Feebas are two downright useless Pokemon, to say the very least. That's not rude, either - they know it. Just look at them there. At least they'll both eventually evolve into mythical Water-type monsters, but that day is certainly not today.
Zangoose or Seviper?
Zangoose and Seviper form a classic rivalry introduced in the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire games. Rumor has it they're still tussling now, forever fighting in the tall grass. While they go at it, you can go ahead and tell us which of these creatures is your favorite.
Solrock or Lunatone?
It's a battle of sun versus moon featuring Solrock and Lunatone. Are you more of a diurnal or nocturnal person? Does that even matter to this quiz? Both of these Pokemon are strong Rock/Psychic types from the third generation, but only one can win here.
Electivire or Magmortar?
Remember back when we implied that Electabuzz and Magmar eventually got their own evolutions? Well, here they are. But maybe you knew that already... anyway, it's a battle between thunder and flame once more. And yet again, you get to pick your fave.
Leafeon or Glaceon?
Leafeon and Glaceon are yet another two additions to the Eevee squad. Of course, Leafeon represents the Grass-type and Glaceon the Ice-type. There's definitely a type advantage that goes to Glaceon here, but who gets to win your vote?
Electrode or Amoonguss?
Electrode and Amoongus don't have much in common except this: both of them are strange, unexplained references to the Pokeball, the very symbol of the Pokemon universe. Who knew that this figure would manifest itself in Pokemon nature? Did you?
Celesteela or Skarmory?
It's an epic confrontation between our two favorite Steel/Flying-type Pokemon - Celesteela and Skarmory! Both these formidable beasts are often used in competitive play (some might say over used). If you could only pick one, which would you add to your team?
Machamp or Conkeldurr?
Machamp and Conkeldurr are two of the strongest Fighting-types in the Pokemon universe. One of them has four arms, but the other one goes through its entire life holding two super heavy stone columns. If you had to choose your favorite of these two fighters, which would it be?
Tangela or Tangrowth?
For this feature, we have two Pokemon in the same evolution line: Tangela and Tangrowth. Tangel is, of course, a key member of the original roster, while Tangrowth is its future form, boosted with ridiculous defensive stats. Things are looking a little tangled in here, best we move on.
Chansey or Blissey?
Just when you thought we were done, here's another battle between pre-evolved and evolved forms, featuring Chansey and Blissey. They're both well known in the Pokemon world as key clerics. In competitive play, they are bulky and annoying AF. Which of these is your favorite?
Politoed or Poliwrath?
Hey, here's another evolution string feature for you, because we say so. This time, we have two members of the Poli family: Politoed and Poliwrath. Both are potential evolved forms of Poliwhirl, each offering their own unique flavor. Which of these frogs do you like best?
Houndoom or Arcanine?
Houndoom and Arcanine are two of our favorite fire breathing beasts of the Pokemon universe. Of course, our favorites don't matter here, yours do. So, we'll just let you decide between the demonic hound and the mystical canine. Go ahead, they won't bite.
Ninjask or Shedinja?
Ninjask and Shedinja are two of Nincada's potential evolved forms. The former is super speedy and can slice you right in half, while the other can't be touched in battle unless by a super effective hit. Yeesh, the competition sure is fierce here.
Regirock or Regice?
This confrontation features Regirock and Regice, two key legendary Pokemon that you'll find in a cave, obviously. If you only had the option of choosing one cave to visit, which would it be? Do you prefer the towering Rock Pokemon, or the walking glacier?
Celebi or Jirachi?
Here are two more legendaries to follow the last pair. Celebi and Jirachi are Mew's successors, two elusive Legendary Pokemon who could only be obtained in-game via a Nintendo event. They're both super magical, and you can only pick one.
Rayquaza or Dragonite?
Rayquaza and Dragonite might both be Dragon/Flying-type Pokemon, but Rayquaza is the only legendary we see here. Still, no one can rob Dragonite of its place as the original flying dragon Pokemon. It's a tough one to call - what do you think?
Magnezone or Crawdaunt?
Magnezone is the robust evolved form of Magneton, as you can probably figure out yourself. Its opponent here is Crawdaunt, a mighty, evil crab who emerges from the depths of the ocean to crab-hammer its foes. Still, it's at a severe type disadvantage here.
Sableye or Gardevoir?
Sableye is super annoying to face in a battle, since its only weakness is the rare Fairy-type attack. However, let's not forget that Gardevoir has access to exactly that. Let's also not forget that this isn't a Pokemon battle - peacefully pick your favorite, please.
Mew or Bellossom?
The mysterious Mew is featured here alongside the lovely Bellossom. The only thing these little critters have in common is that they're both Pokemon, other than that they're quite distinct. Since you can only pick one, you'll have to push a button here.
Gogoat or Tyrantrum?
Gogoat and Tyrantrum are two mighty beasts both introduced a couple generations ago in Pokemon X and Y. Gogoat can Horn Leech its opponents and add their HP to its bulk, while Tyrantrum simply smashed its foes with its huge head and incredible attack stat.
Breloom or Sceptile?
Breloom is famous in competitive play for being able to perform a 100% accurate sleep-inducing move on its opponents before following it up with a devastating Focus Punch. Thing is, Breloom's Spore attack has no effect against Sceptile! Uh oh.
Mightyena or Raticate?
It's a showdown between a hyena and rat, and you get to decide who wins. Mightyena is a prized, pure Dark-type Pokemon who packs quite a bite, while Raticate is a classic tall grass feature from the original roster of 151. Which 'mon is your favorite?
Grumpig or Absol?
Grumpig might be at a severe disadvantage against Absol's Dark-type attacks, but that doesn't matter here. All we're wondering is which you like more. After you choose, Absol can go ahead and destroy Grumpig in one hit with its Knock Off attack.
Dugtrio or Dodrio?
Dugtrio doesn't mess around: one Earthquake, and any opponent will be shaking in their boots. To top that off, its Arena Trap ability makes it so that its foes can't escape until a Pokemon has fainted. Luckily for Dodrio, its Flying type grants it immunity to Dugtrio's Ground attacks and its ability.
Golbat or Sandslash?
It's a battle of the skies and the ground yet again! This time, we have the formidable Golbat versus the insane Sandslash. Flying-types tend to have the advantage in these matchups, but let's not forget Sandslash's Stone Edge attack! Which is your favorite 'mon?
Mudsdale or Bewear?
Mudsdale and Bewear are two Pokemon introduced in the last generation, Sun and Moon. A ground horse and a ferocious teddy bear, these two have made quite an impact in such a short time. The question is, how much have they impacted you?
Krookodile or Hydreigon?
We're at the last stretch of our Pokemon safari, and soon we will reveal your true Spirit Pokemon. For now, let's see which of these Dark types you prefer. Choosing between Krookodile and Hydreigon is a tough gig, but we know you can pull it off.
Forretress or Marowak?
Forretress is coming in hot, but Marowak has its club at the ready. There's no type advantage here, so it looks to be an all-out smashfest. While these two duke it out in the background, think of all the good, love-filled times you've spent with them. Now pick a winner and a loser.
Golduck or Bronzong?
Psyduck's peek performing fully evolved form is going up against Bronzong, the telekinetic, floating obelisk. The former represents the original roster, while the latter is a newer arrival. Choose between them, and we'll soon reveal your Spirit Pokemon.
Garchomp or Salamence?
Two ferocious dragons are featured together here, one of the ground and one of the skies. These are the type of Pokemon that induce a bedroom jump-around when you catch them in-game. Unfortunately, you can only jump around for one of them here.
Groudon or Zigzagoon?
If this were a Pokemon battle, poor little Zigzagoon would have been turned to magma a long time ago. Thankfully for the little pup, Groudon isn't here to hurt any Pokemon today. It's only here to win a button press from you. And if you don't press its button, it might help you activate your lava form.
Mewtwo or Suicune?
For our very last feature, we have the Duke of Psychic Pokemon and the Archangel of the Aurora. It's been a good time, but every wild ride comes to an end eventually. Pick your final fave, and we'll reveal your Spirit Pokemon. Who will it be?
