It’s safe to say that now, more than ever, the world could use a good laugh. And thankfully, we have comedy movies. The great thing about comedy movies is that not only are they are hilarious and laugh out loud funny, but there are some that are also considered to be the best movies of all time. While some may think that dramas or tragedies are more difficult to write, the truth is that comedies are much more challenging. The setup, the punchline, the timing, they are all critical to making a great comedy. And the movies in this quiz are at the top of the charts.
From rom-coms to raunch-coms to dramadies, there are so many different movie genres of comedy. Nevertheless, as many different styles of comedy movies that there are, they all have one thing in common. They have all consistently cracked people up. While humor may indeed by a subjective topic, there is nothing subjective about the films in the quiz. They are just plain funny. If it’s true when they say that laughter is the best medicine, consider this quiz as penicillin. Good luck trying to name 100% of these comedies. It’s not going to be easy.

This first film is actually quite pungent. It has a formidable scent… It stings the nostrils. In a good way. While some may think it smells like pure gasoline, they’ve actually done studies on it. 60% of the time, it works every time. But in all seriousness, this 2004 comedy featured an all star cast of Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner. And while Will Ferrell’s character may be wrong in thinking that diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era, there’s no denying that this film was comedy gold.

If you don’t believe me about how funny this movie is, then I’m afraid I have to tell you that you are no longer in my circle of trust. In this next movie, a guy’s first visit to his girlfriend’s parents’ house goes just about as wrong as it can possibly go. And any chance of impressing her parents goes out the window with it.

Are you guys ready to let the dogs out with this next comedy? Two days before his wedding, the groom and his three friends drive to Vegas for a wild bachelor party. The only problem is, when they wake up the next day, they can’t a remember a single thing about the night before. And to make matters worse, they can’t find their friend. These guys have no choice but the re-trace their steps from the night before so they can make it back in time for the wedding.

What is this? A comedy for ants!? This next comedy needs to be at least… three times funnier than this! This next comedy features a dimwitted model who is at the top of the fashion world thanks to his classic model pose known as “Blue Steel.” However, when this top model is dethroned by his rival, he becomes the new prey for a devious fashion designer who brainwashes him to attack the Malaysian prime minister. Think you can name this comedy?

After finding out that his wife cheated on him, Mitch feels like his life is falling apart, so he does what every guy does. He moves into a new place, which just so happens to be near a college campus, in order to get his life together. However, when his best friends start hanging out at the new place, it eventually turns into one of the best party spots for the college crowd. In fact, these guys end up having to start their own fraternity.

The Farrelly Brothers hit a home run with this romantic comedy. (Emphasis on comedy). Ted’s dream girl prom date never happens thanks in part to a pretty darn embarrassing injury. This PI lies to Ted about his dream girl and uses everything he found on her to trick her into dating him. Ted eventually travels to meet his dream girl only to have to deal with all the guys that have fallen in love with her.

If you could remember what this next comedy is, that would be grrreeeaaaatttt, mmmk… If there is one thing that Peter Gibbons can’t stand, it’s being a corporate drone for the software company Initech. While undergoing hypnotherapy, Peter is left in a state of perpetual bliss due to his therapist having a heart attack in the middle of their session. Now that Peter is so happy and care free, he is able to charm the company consultants into making him a manager. However, when Peter’s friends find out they’re being downsized, they hatch their own revenge plot.

This next comedy is about two divorce mediators who spend their free time going to weddings they weren’t invited to. So when the Secretary of the Treasury announces the wedding of his daughter, the two decide that this is the ultimate wedding they have to sneak into. However, their plan hits a snag when one of them falls for the one of the bridesmaids.

This next comedy showcased one of the greatest debates of all time. Which is better: shampoo or conditioner? Shampoo goes on first and cleans the hair, but conditioner leaves the hair silky and smooth. Moreover, this film stars Adam Sandler as a spoiled rich kid who now spends his days partying. When his father decides to retire and turn his business over to his associate, Sandler’s character offers to go back to school and pass every grade in 24 weeks in order to win back control of his father’s company.

After attending her service, Dante mulls over whether to stay with his current girlfriend or get back together with his ex.

Mike Myers plays dual roles in this comedy spoof of 1960s spy films. Moreover, this film is groovy baby and very shagadelic. This secret agent is assisted by the daughter of his old partner to help him adjust to life in the 90s and to help defeat his old nemesis, Dr. Evil.

When Carrey’s character eventually starts to unravel the truth, he has to decide whether to finally break free.

With the help of Rufus’ time machine, Keanu and Alex travel to different points in history to help complete their final history project.

Schwing! If this next comedy looks a little familiar, that’s because this film is actually a big screen spin-off of a “Saturday Night Live” sketch of the same name. In this film, Rob Lowe plays a television producer that wants to take a public access show mainstream into the world of commercial television. The show’s main stars, Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, battle to save their show and Mike Myers’ girlfriend from Lowe. Think you can name this comedy?

It is essentially a spoof that takes jabs at all of the disaster movies that were released in the 1970s. When all of the crew and passengers of a plane are incapacitated as a result of food poisoning, a loose cannon pilot with a drinking problem has to work with his ex-girlfriend turned flight attendant in order to land the plane safely.
