Sports fans often dream about what it might be like to play their favorite game. Although football can be a very brutal and punishing sport to play, many of its fans have often dreamed about throwing the game winning pass or sending a pick six all the way back for a touchdown. However, once the dream of becoming a star on the field ends, a new one often begins. Usually, that fantasy consists of calling the shots as a coach of general manager. Those who enjoy playing video games such as Madden are very familiar with how much fun these aspects of the game can be.

In this quiz, future GM's will be given the opportunity to evaluate their skills as a general manager based on some of the players in the NFL today. This quiz will ultimately reveal whether they have the skill and savvy to navigate through the talent the league has to offer and find out if they have what it takes to be a GM.

Some of the choices in this quiz may seem like no-brainers, but only the most knowledgable fans out there will truly be able to separate themselves from the pack and rise up as a premiere future GM. So get out a pen and a notebook because it is time for potential future GM's to evaluate the talent in this quiz and find out if they are truly meant to be a GM in the NFL.

Question 1

Tom Brady

There are some future GM’s who might consider Tom Brady an obvious player to sign. He’s won 5 Super Bowls, has broken several passing records, and is one of the most accurate passers to play the game. However, despite the fact that he’s still playing at a high level, Brady is 41 years old. This could create a dilemma for some future GM’s.

Khalil Mack

Even the most casual football fan knows that Khalil Mack is a special player who can impact the game like nobody else on the defensive end of the ball. He’s already compiled 45.5 sacks in 4 ½ seasons in the NFL. Mack can also change the momentum of the game just by making one huge impact play. Will future GM’s want this type of talent on their team or will his high salary be too much for them to handle?

Andrew Luck

Andrew Luck has had anything, but luck over the past few seasons. Future GM's know that he is a good signal caller who can put up good numbers. There might be some doubt as to whether he can lead a team to Super Bowl glory, but that shouldn't stop a future GM from considering him as an option. This three time All Pro has proven in 2018 that he still has plenty left in the tank.

Odell Beckham Jr

Odell Beckham Jr is one of several great young wide receivers who are currently dazzling fans who follow the league. He’s also keeping fans entertained with his off the field comments, flamboyant style, and large contract. Will future GM’s look past the flashy persona and headlines in order to take a chance on a guy who can easily catch the ball with one hand?

Rob Gronkowski

When quarterback Tom Brady is in sync with Rob Gronkowski, there is very little the opposing defense can do to stop them. Although this superstar has found himself on the injured list a lot over the past few seasons, he is still one of, if not the most respected tight end in the NFL. Even having this guy for a playoff run would benefit future GM’s tremendously.

Todd Gurley

If future GM’s have been watching closely, they’ll know that Toddy Gurley is one of the most exciting running backs in the league. At this point, he is a touchdown scoring machine thanks to the terrific offensive line he runs behind. Protecting Gurley with good blocking is the key. Future GM’s better have a great offensive line in order to get the most out of this exciting running back.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins

There was a time when Austin Seferian-Jenkins was considered an up and coming talent who was about to take the league by storm. Although there is still plenty of time for this to take place, future GM's might not want to face the unknown and take a chance on a player who is only seen as having potential. Others may see something in him and have an idea of how to utilize him in their game plans.

Marcus Peters

Future GM’s will likely see the same upside as the Los Angeles Rams saw this past offseason they acquired this talented cornerback from the Chiefs. Some future GM’s might see some of his on the field antics as a distraction not worth taking a chance on. This could be a high risk/high reward for an adventurous future GM.

Leonard Fournette

When healthy, this dominate running back has shown tremendous rushing ability. However, nagging injuries might lead some future GM’s to err on the side of caution when it comes to signing this gifted rusher. Only time will tell if Fournette can overcome the hurdles that have sidelined him, but based on his play, some future GM’s might be willing to take a risk.

J.J. Watt

This four time All Pro has made quite an impact on the game in his 8 seasons. Despite having two shortened seasons recently, Watt is still on pace to be ranked among the all time sacks leaders. The 2018 seasons has shown that he is back and better than ever. Will future GM’s take a chance on this explosive veteran defensive end?

Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz has rebounded nicely from his season being cut short during the Eagles Super Bowl run last season. He is clearly one of the brightest young talents in the league. There is a tremendous upside to signing a guy who can seamlessly recover from a serious injury and bounce right back as if nothing ever happened.

There is a very good reason why the Texans are among the best defenses in the NFL year after year. Although J.J. Watt receives all of the headlines, Jadeveon Clowney also deserves some credit for the impact this consistently strong defensive unit makes. The Texans wouldn’t be a perennial playoff team without the talent of players like Clowney.

Antonio Brown

This six time All Pro has taken the NFL by storm over the past decade. He’s had five consecutive 100 reception seasons and has proven to be one of the most clutch wide receivers in league history. It’s likely that Antonio Brown is at the top of most future GM signing lists. There are very few downsides to having such an explosive player on the team.

Von Miller

It’s likely that when future GM’s think of the Broncos they think of six time All Pro linebacker Von Miller. After compiling 90 plus sacks in 8 seasons, it is easy to see why Miller would stand out among the rest. He is one of the most impressive defensive players in the NFL for a good reason. It would be foolish for future GM’s to overlook Miller’s talent.

Drew Brees

After reaching the 500 touchdown passing plateau, there probably shouldn’t be too many questions as to whether Drew Brees would be a good player to sign. Although he is sure to deliver positive leadership and productive play, Brees finds himself in the same position as Tom Brady. If heading into the twilight of their career doesn’t affect future GM’s, then they would be smart to sign Drew Brees.

Amari Cooper

There are some future GM’s out there who might be hesitant to sign Amari Cooper. However, the decline in his play in recent years might be more of a reflection of the team he’s played on than his actual ability. Based on his past performance, future GM’s might want to consider giving Cooper a chance to prove he is truly an elite wide receiver.

Blake Bortles

The NFL qualifications of Blake Bortles have been questioned by NFL fans for the past several years. His passes aren't accurate and he turns the ball over a lot. However, sometimes he manages to get the job done and win. Sometimes Bortles wins better with his feet rather than his arm. There are some who still think he's great, but many others think he is unfit to be an NFL quarterback.

Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce has shown tremendous consistency since he entered the league in 2013. Playing with a gifted quarterback like Patrick Mahomes should only help fans and future GM’s to see just how talented this three time All Pro tight end is. Future GM’s will not only get offensive production, they will also get good blocking protection from Kelce too.

Marshawn Lynch

Player like Marshawn Lynch don't earn the nickname "Beast Mode" because they lack toughness. Lynch is arguably the toughest and most durable running back in league history. However, as an NFL running back, Lynch might be considered "over the hill" by some future GM's. Although he is still as tough as ever, some future GM's may want to see more production out of this durable veteran.

Cam Newton

Cam Newton might be one of the best all around athletes in the NFL. Not only is he an accurate passer with a cannon for an arm, he is also one of the strongest quarterbacks in the league. He is great in short yardage situations and is an incredibly consistent passer. Future GM’s may win a lot of games with this leader as their quarterback.

Le’Veon Bell

Le’Veon Bell might be making headlines due to his 2018 hold out for more money, but the payoff could be great if a future GM is willing to pay the money Bell is looking for. He has rushed for over 1,000 yards in three out of his five seasons in the league and possesses a patient running style many running backs envy.

Richard Sherman

At one time Richard Sherman was one of the most talented cornerbacks in the league. While he's still got some gas left in the tank, future GM's should keep in mind that his numbers have slowly declined over the past few seasons. However, what Sherman lacks in numbers he makes up for in leadership and coverage skills.

Zach Ertz

Zach Ertz has really hit his stride during the Carson Wentz era in Philadelphia. He's gone from being a pretty good option in the receiving game to one of the top options on the team. Having a great receiving tight end on the team can really enhance the passing game. Future GM's should take note of what Ertz has been doing over the past few seasons.

Julio Jones

There aren't too many wide receiver names that are more impressive than Julio Jones. His height and speed make him very difficult to defend. This perennial All Pro has put up some big numbers over the past several seasons that back this up. Any future GM out there would be lucky to have a receiver to holds onto so many passes as well as Julio Jones.

Aaron Rodgers

There is a very good reason Aaron Rodgers was signed to such a large contract this offseason. He has lacked a major receiving target for several seasons yet he continues to put up Hall Of Fame type of numbers. Future GM's may want to pair him up with one of the great receivers listed in this quiz for maximum results. If his contract seems too steep for their liking, then this is one player they may want to pass on.

Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill was already one of the most exciting players to watch before the emergence of Patrick Mahomes in the Chiefs offense. With Mahomes at the helm, Tyreek Hill has become the receiver fans were hoping for. If nothing else, future GM's may want Hill to have the ball on kick returns. A guy with that much speed and skill is hard to come by.

Jameis WInston

Off the field issues have likely lead to the inconsistent play of this highly regarded former Heisman Trophy winner. He has shown flashes of greatness, but future GM's might want to be cautious about signing this player unless they have some good pieces around him on offense. That is when he's been at his best in the NFL.

Ben Roethlisberger

This future Hall Of Famer may not have broken tons of records or thrown 500 touchdown passes, but there is one thing he does know how to do: win. Although he might be heading into the twilight of his time in the NFL, Roethlisberger brings consistency and leadership to any team put together by a future GM who is looking to win sooner rather than later.

Jalen Ramsey

Future GM's who are looking to build up a great defense would be off to a good start by signing this young cornerback. Jalen Ramsey was one of the leaders of the great Jaguars defense that almost lead the team to a Super Bowl berth in 2017. This All Pro has exactly what a future GM might be looking for: skill and youth.

Patrick Mahomes

There may not be a better quarterback in this quiz for future GM's to build around than Patrick Mahomes. He doesn't have the Super Bowl rings or experience to back this up, but he has played like he has both of those things so far during the 2018 season. If any future GM's out there are into gambling, then this is one bet they might want to place.

LeSean McCoy

LeSean McCoy might be off to a slow start in 2018, but that shouldn't discourage future GM's from taking a chance on this versatile veteran. Even if his days of carrying the rushing load are coming to an end, he can still split his time between receiving and rushing for a few more seasons. Having a running back who can catch the ball might be hard for future GM's to come by.

Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford isn't necessarily a superstar in the NFL, but he is a quarterback who plays consistently good. He is the kind of quarterback who needs some good pieces around him in order to maximize his talent. Future GM's who have good talent on their roster might be curious to see how high Stafford's ceiling really is.

Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton has the veteran leadership and experience that might make him a good fit for some future GM's. However, if they are in pursuit of a player who can put up Hall Of Fame type of numbers, then Dalton may not be the right fit. He is the kind of player who would fit in well with a team that wins more with their defense than having to carry the load on offense.

Aaron Donald

This perennial All Pro has gone from quietly dominating on a bad team to being the face of a team that is being defined by the defense they are playing. Future GM's who want to build their team around defense may want to start with the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in order to get their team off on the right foot.

Tavon Austin

Tavon Austin has been an interesting player to follow in the NFL. At times his amazing speed has generated excellent results. However, his receiving ability has kept him from becoming the breakout star some thought he might be in the NFL. Some future GM's may want to utilize his speed for reverses and kick returns while others may not want to take on the project of further developing his skills.

Larry Fitzgerlad

Larry Fitzgerald's production has slowed down quite a bit this season. However, the Cardinals are going through a rebuilding project at quarterback. Fitzgerald is also coming off three consecutive 100 plus reception seasons. It's hard to believe he has slowed down that much despite the fact that he is in his mid 30's. A future GM with the right quarterback may want to add Fitzgerald for optimal veteran leadership.

Question 37

Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is not only one of the best athletes in the game, he might be one of the most overlooked quarterbacks in the league as well. A quarterback who can run well and sit in the pocket like he does is hard to come by. A Super Bowl ring also brings a special type of leadership and winning attitude that can't be underestimated.

Question 38

Xavier Rhodes

This two time All Pro has emerged as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL over the past few seasons. Rhodes will probably never break any records, but he will provide excellent coverage in the pass game. He's even returned one interception for 100 yards. A rare feat and something for future GM's to consider if they like corners who can go the distance with an interception.

Question 39

Jared Goff

Jared Goff has only played three seasons in the NFL so far, but he has quickly emerged as one of the most reliable signal callers in the game. At this point, he won't throw 50 TD passes in a season, but he will put up solid numbers, take care of the ball, and effectively lead the offense to victory. A future GM with a great defense may want to consider building around Goff.

Jarvis Landry

It takes a lot of courage for a three time All Pro like Jarvis Landry to go from a team like the Dolphins to the Browns. He has flirted with or exceeded 100 receptions in every season he played. To risk giving that up says a lot about him. Future GM's with a better quarterback situation may want to have a guy like Landry on their team.

Question 41

Josh Gordon

There's no doubt about it, Josh Gordon has had his share of issues since entering the NFL back in 2012. There also isn't any doubt about his talent and potential. Future GM's who are looking to build their team around a well respected veteran quarterback may want to give Gordon a chance to prove himself and reach his full potential. Future GM's who don't like to take risks should probably steer clear of Gordon.

Derek Carr

Despite all of the issues and uncertainty in Oakland, Derek Carr has been one of the few bright spots. Imagine what Carr could do on a team that has everything together? Future GM's who watched him play during the Raiders better seasons know that Carr has a lot of potential when they are good players around him.

Adam Thielen

This All Pro has proven to be a reliable target in the Vikings offense regardless of who is at quarterback. This says a lot about Adam Thielen considering how many quarterback changes he's had to endure in recent years. That kind of resilience should make him a great candidate for just about any future GM out there.

Dak Prescott

When Dak Prescott came into the league a few seasons ago he looked like the quarterback the Cowboys had been looking for. Although his numbers have been decent, Prescott has had a difficult time leading the Cowboys to wins on a consistent basis. This might make some future GM's hesitant to sign him. Especially considering some of the talent around him.

Saquon Barkley

There is still a lot for future GM's to learn about Saquon Barkley. However, his quick and powerful running style has already dazzled fans over the course of the 2018 season. Considering the fact that he plays on such a bad team, but is still putting up great numbers, future GM's should probably take note. Barkley might be a great running back to build a team around for the future.

Joe Flacco

Despite leading the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory a few seasons ago, Joe Flacco tends to not get enough credit. His numbers won't stand out compared to some of his future Hall Of Fame counterparts, but he does provide stability and leadership. Future GM's who build their team around Flacco may want to invest in a good defense.

Matt Ryan

People tend to speak very highly of Matt Ryan. This is justifiable considering the numbers he's put up. However, Ryan seems to need just the right pieces around him in order to win games. He's also had a hard time winning on the "big stage" over the years as well. Ryan is capable of playing great, but everything has to be just right for it to happen.

DeAndre Hopkins

Future GM's might have fun with a player like DeAndre Hopkins. He's never had a truly great signal caller throwing to him yet he's put up some outstanding numbers. One 100 reception season and another where he just missed the mark might make some future GM's wonder what he could do in a situation that has more offensive stability.

Patrick Peterson

Patrick Peterson is a perennial All Pro who was a standout during some of the Cardinals best years during this decade. Although he is making headlines due to his discontent with the direction of the franchise, this shouldn't discourage future GM's too much. Peterson still has plenty of good years left in order to make an impact on a team in need of a great cornerback.

Philip Rivers

For all of the leadership skills Philip Rivers has provided to his Chargers team, making an appearance in the Super Bowl is something that has eluded him. Rivers has proven to be a quarterback who is capable of putting up great numbers, but has had trouble raising his team to the next level. Perhaps a future GM with a great supporting cast will give Rivers what he needs in order to take the next step.
