For all the 90’s kids out there, Boy Meets World may just be the coming of age story that everyone was attuned to. A story about the prepubescent life, college life, then adult life of Cory Matthews (shown through seven seasons), this was a well-loved show and cultural hallmark for teenagers and young adults in the 90s and early 2000s. The show is so popular it actually spawned a spin-off called Girl Meets World, which features the adventures of Cory and Topanga with their teenage daughter Riley; this show just aired from 2014 to January 2017! Re-runs have also been aired on multiple platforms, such as ABC Family, FOX, and Disney Channel.

Isn’t it amazing seeing someone on television just grow up through the seasons and live out a life, just like we are? It’s equally amazing how shows like Boy Meets World help shape our growing-up teenage life; how we can garner some life lessons from Cory Matthews himself. But since this show is a bit old (it has been 24 years since it first aired, after all), there might be some bits (or a lot of bits) of information we might already have forgotten about the show. But can you prove that you are the toughest expert on Boy Meets World? Take this quiz to find out!

Question 1

What was the name of Cory Matthews’ best friend?

Every coming of age sitcom about a boy protagonist must have some sort of sidekick/best friend for him. Think about Ron Weasley for Harry Potter, or Grover Underwood to Percy Jackson. In our beloved Boy Meets World, Cory Matthews faces the world with his best buddy and his girlfriend. Cory was more awkward and ‘neurotic’, but his best friend was just the perfect foil for his attitude; his BFF was more rebellious and charming - and definitely popular! But just what was his name?

Question 2

What was the name of the gang’s high school?

In Boy Meets World season 2, Cory, Topanga, and Shawn are finally entering high school! In fact, Cory’s brother Eric even helps them out by making them a guide to their new school; there’s a condition imposed, however, and that condition was that they shouldn’t talk to him while there are class hours! Cory’s first day in high school doesn’t go very smoothly, of course, as he runs into bullies – led by Harley Keiner – and even gets Harley into trouble with the high school principal!

Question 3

Which character got into a motorcycle accident and subsequently disappeared for a time?

Boy Meets World has a lot of characters that just seem to suddenly disappear, never mentioned again. One of these is a certain teacher that played quite a big role in the show during Cory’s high school years, even living with him for a time. In one episode in the 4th season, however, this character got into a “life-threatening motorcycle accident;” afterwards, he doesn’t appear on the show and is scarcely mentioned! What kind of mysterious forces are at play here? But the more important question is: who is this guy anyway?

Question 4

Who takes Shawn in when he had no home?

In the season 2 finale Home, we find Shawn straying and homeless - he even goes so far as to compare his life to that of a stray dog in their neighborhood! So what happened? After three weeks without contact with his father, he goes to live with the Matthews household, but he still felt that he didn’t fit in; thus starting his search for a ‘more permanent’ home. Chet, Shawn’s father, finally calls and says he won’t be returning anytime soon. Another adult in Cory and Shawn’s circle of acquaintances takes Shawn in.

Question 5

What was the name of Shawn’s “sister”?

Another character randomly appears/gets mentioned and disappears again! This time, it is Shawn’s ‘sister’! In the episode titled Cory’s Alternative Friends, Shawn borrowed his sister’s hair iron and gives it to Cory, whose scalp burned. So, in order to get some good advice, he called up his sister. After this episode, however, the sister is never seen or mentioned again; most think of her as a ‘continuity error.’ In fact, the original script was that she was a sister of someone else, but since that someone else got fired, the lines were given to Shawn instead.

Question 6

How was Morgan Matthews related to Cory?

Cory Matthews’ world was a crazy, adventurous, and funny one. He is also constantly surrounded by eccentric, weird, witty, and lovable family and friends. But that’s not all of his friends and family! There’s still Morgan Matthews, who never seems to stop being annoying to Cory, but is closer to Eric. How are they related though?

Question 7

What was the name of their sixth grade teacher?

In the pilot episode of Boy Meets World, we are introduced to the numerous characters that would play a big part in Cory Matthews’ life. Who is the teacher?

Question 8

What was the gang’s favourite restaurant called?

Often, the students and even teachers of Cory, Shawn, and Topanga’s high school hung out in a cheap restaurant within the area. In fact, a majority of the first few seasons played out in this restaurant. Named after the cook/owner, first time customers must order in code to get served by the cook. But as the actor for the cook changed, it seemed like his character’s personality did too! He was deemed friendlier, even giving nicknames to the customers. The restaurant is later bought by Peg-Leg Pete’s.

Because of his prankster personality, he’s made several ‘prank items’ like ‘Dummy Cory.’
