Harry Potter and Twilight are one of the most famous and infamous franchises that revolutionised book to movie adaptations. They both have a huge cult following, an incredible amount of fans, and huge collection of criticism for either omitting or adding things that weren't in the books. Harry Potter follows the story of young Harry, an orphan wizard who is raised by his aunt's family where he was forced to live under a staircase. Twilight, on the other hand, is a teen romance about a young girl, Bella, who falls in love with the brooding, pale, bad boy of her school, Edward.
These are two very different stories, and with two very different kinds of fanbases. And yet, people are constantly comparing them. These were incredibly successful books, and were so profitable, that they invested in creating a live-action full-feature adaptation on the big screen. Harry Potter spanned a decade and spawned eight movies. Twilight, on the other hand, spanned only four years and created five movies.
Because of the success of both of these franchises, book to movie adaptations have become popular once again, and they're the reason why we got The Hunger Games movies, the Maze Runner movies, etc. So if you've ever wondered whether you were more of a Twilight person or a Harry Potter person, look no further.

Blade is a classic movie that follows the half-mortal, half-immortal Blade who hunts the technologically advanced vampires that are terrorising the human race from the shadows. It's an incredible movie for it's time, and it still stands up to modern day scrutiny, with the action and the plot far from being outdated.

Tom Cruise plays the infamous Ethan Hunt, a IMF agent who, through a series of misadventures, is brought to the Kremlin on an infiltration mission. Therein, something terrible happens and the team is compromised. The result is that the Ghost Protocol is initiated, where they are disavowed and labeled renegades.

The 23rd James Bond movie, and Daniel Craig's third rendition of the iconic character, where he and another MI6 agent, Eve Moneypenny pursue a mercenary with the details of all MI6 agents. The mission goes awry, Bond is shot and falls into the river, and the mercenary escapes. And now, with the data out there, and Bond missing, no one knows what's going to happen.

A romantic-comedy starring Ryan Gosling as a jazz pianist and Emma Stone as an aspiring actress, La La Land is a musical about the two chasing their dreams and falling in love in the City of Angels. It contains a lot of original pieces, stunning choreography, and fantastic acting from two great actors.

Easy A has a lot of serious history involving it. The red letter A was marked on women who committed adultery, so everyone knew her crime. The movie is about a young woman named Olive Penderghast who has a series of vicious rumors circulating around school about her intimate activities with other people. It starts off fun, but eventually makes her life very hard.

Life of Pi is a drama story about how a young man survives a shipwreck where his entire family passes and he is cast adrift into the sea with a Bengal Tiger. He eventually learns to care for the tiger, catches fish from the sea, and sustains both himself and the animal until they can escape.

Birdman is better described as an art film with shockingly long takes. It follows the story of Riggan Thomas, an actor that is best known for a superhero trilogy he made twenty years ago called Birdman, and is struggling to do decent acting work now. It's a black comedy with dazzlingly long takes, and won nine Oscar nominations, winning four of them.

Manchester By The Sea is the story of Lee Chandler, a janitor and handyman in an apartment complex where he doesn't see eye-to-eye with many of the tenants. His brother suffers from a cardiac arrest but before Chandler can visit him, he passes away in the hospital. He is then given guardianship over his nephew, and he struggles with the idea, the ghost of his own children haunting his memories.
