Rate These Harry Potter Potions And Spells To Reveal Your Unique Wand

We're adults, here. And that means that we're far too old and too mature to spend our days daydreaming about a fictional universe from a book series that came out more than twenty years ago. Yes, indeed, we're much too grown-up for all of that nonsense, thanks very much. But, here's the thing. That's all a lie. We are totally not too old or too mature or too grown-up to waste away the hours staring into space, imagining how great it would be if we could be a *Little Mermaid voice* part of that world.

We're still not over the fact that we never got that Hogwarts acceptance letter on our eleventh birthday, but just because we've (sort of) come to terms with the fact that we're muggles who will never know what it's like to be able to do magic, that doesn't mean we can't think about it all day, everyday, now, does it? Maybe we are too old for this, but, consarnit! We like pretending to be in Harry Potter's world, and we bet most people out there do, too! Begin an imaginary journey in the world of Harry Potter by rating these spells and potions from one to four stars, and in the end, get a completely unique wand. Remember: the wand chooses the wizard!

Question 1

Expecto Patronum

A difficult spell that only very powerful witches and wizards can execute perfectly, Expecto Patronum produces a patronus, which is unique to the witch or wizard who conjures it. The patronus requires the conjurer to recall a happy memory, and is typically used to ward off dementors, but can also be used to send messages.

Question 2

Amortentia

Ah, love potions. We *love* love potions. And, Amortentia, of course, is the most powerful love potion of all. Well, in a way. See, love potions don't really make someone fall in love with you, they just make the person obsessed and infatuated. This potion is tricky to make, and it smells different to everyone.

Question 3

Expelliarmus

This is one spell you've just *got* to know if you're a kid traipsing the halls of Hogwarts. Hey, it may be a magic school, but it's still school, and we all know how rough being a teenager can be. You never know when you might get on the wrong side of somebody, so Expelliarmus, the disarming spell, is an essential to keep in your bag of tricks.

Question 4

Erumpent Potion

Thought to be made from parts of Erumpents, magical rhinoceros like creatures, we're actually not sure why people make this assumption at all, considering the name of this concoction is "Erumpent Potion". We mean, it's so unreasonable to assume that something with the name of an ingredient might have that ingredient in it, right? Anyway, Erumpent Potions are super explosive when they come into contact with something.

Question 5

Accio

Sigh. If ever there was a time we wished we were magical, it's in the morning when we can't find our car keys. If we were sorcerers, we'd leave all that "searching the house top to bottom" nonsense for the birds, and instead, whip out our wand and just Accio our keys to us, because this spell retrieves objects and brings them directly to the conjurer.

Question 6

Mrs. Skower’s All-Purpose Magical Mess Remover

*Old Tide commercial announcer voice* Potions stains. When you've got wizards, you've gotta have Mrs. Skower's All-Purpose Magical Mess Remover. Look, these people may be magical, but they still make a right mess sometimes. They don't have Ajax or Mrs. Meyer's, but this stuff is even better because it's got all the power of a muggle cleaning product, but...wait for it...with magic. Eh? Pretty neat, yeah?

Question 7

Obliviate

We're not spies or anything (or *are* we? No, no, wait, we're not), but there are some things we would rather people not know, and what's more is there are some things that people already know that we wish we could take back, which brings us to another "why being magical is better than being a muggle" point—Obliviate. This spell is used to remove, either partially or completely, the memories of the person the spell is cast upon.

Question 8

Described in the series as an "old piece of dark magic", this is the potion that Peter Pettigrew brews in the cauldron in the graveyard that Harry lands in after touching the portkey in the maze in The Goblet of Fire. Question 9

Simply use the severing spell, Diffindo, to sever whatever it is you want! Question 10

Homenum Revelio

Man, this spell would have been so helpful when we played hide and seek when we were little. We would've had no trouble becoming the neighborhood champ with this spell. Question 12

Riddikulus

A spell that Harry Potter and his classmates learned about in their third year at Hogwarts during one of Professor Lupin's Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, Riddikulus is used against a boggart—which takes on the form of whatever the witch or wizard it encounters fears most—and turns it into something less scary, like a clown or Snape in Neville Longbottom's Gran's clothes.

Question 13

Impedimenta

Question 14

Aging Potion

It, uh...doesn't go as planned, though.

Muffliato

Discretion. It's key, ya know. Hogwarts has a lot of secrets, as do the students and teachers who walk its halls. Question 23

Felix Felicis

Here we were, thinking alcohol was liquid luck all this time when, in reality, it turns out that liquid luck is actually a potion called Felix Felicis. Question 24

Alohomora

For muggles, the only way to open a locked door is with a key—or, if you're Nancy Drew or one of the Hardy Boys, you could probably get by with just a bobby pin. But! In the wizarding world, there's a spell for opening what's un-openable to non-magic folk, and it's called Alohomora. Cool, right?

Question 25

Gregory’s Unctuous Unction

Invented by Gregory the Smarmy (by the way, LOL at that guy's name. Looks like Miss Rowling really lives up to her initials, J.K.), Gregory's Unctuous Unction sounds just about as silly as the name of the guy who invented it, but it can be quite handy because it convinces the drinker that it's actually your best friend, making things like espionage super simple. Nice!

Question 28

Babbling Beverage

Back when Dolores Umbridge was "teaching" Defense Against the Dark Arts (book five, just in case you're wondering), Harry, with the help of Padma and Parvarti Patil, brewed this concoction, the Babbling Beverage, which they then played over the loudspeakers of Hogwarts, in an attempt to sabotage her. This concoction causes the drinker to babble nonsense. No surprise there.

Question 29

Wingardium Leviosa

We're sorry to say it, but we guess it's a good thing that we're not actually witches and/or wizards, because if we were, we would be Peter Panning all over the place once we learned about the levitation spell. Question 30

Stupefy

Duals are kind of inevitable in the magical world, especially when you're Harry Potter and there's a dark wizard out there who literally has it out for you and is doggedly and relentlessly hunting you down. Question 34

Protego Totalum

Wizards don't have ADT Home Security. But, the thing is, they don't need it because instead of alarm systems, they've got protection spells.
