According to J. K. Rowling, it was on a train from Manchester to London in 1990 that she suddenly came up with the idea for a story that focused on a young boy named Harry Potter who was a wizard, but did not know it. Rowling - a lover of literature – had been writing since she was a child but never before had she felt so excited with an idea for a story.

It took Rowling five years to write the first book (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) – as well as to plan out the other six that were to follow the first one. When she finally submitted it to the publisher, he rejected it. In fact, Rowling’s magical story was rejected eight times in total but believing in her book, she never once gave up. And thank god for that – can anyone taking this quiz imagine a life without Harry Potter, Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore and Muggles?

As soon as the book was published, it was a huge success. Rowling’s magical world full of unique places, bizarre creatures, and of course, most importantly, magical characters – bewitched readers all over the world, and continues to do so to this day.
