The Harry Potter series is a collection of books and movies that are based on the life of a young wizard. In the series, Harry Potter appears to have a pretty normal life, living with family members that don't exactly care for him. After he turns 11, he learns that his life is so much more interesting than it seems. After his birthday that year, Harry was informed that he's actually a wizard and is one of the most famous wizards in the world because of the fact that, when he was just a baby, he survived an attack powerful dark wizard named Voldemort!

Anyone who is familiar with the Harry Potter series will know that after that, he began attending a school with fellow witches and wizards called Hogwarts. After arriving at Hogwarts, a witch or wizard is sorted into one of four houses at the school based on their personality traits. The four different houses at Hogwarts are Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Most fans of the Harry Potter series definitely know which house they belong in and are proud to tell people about it or buy merchandise with their house colors and crest on it.

In the Wizarding World, one's personality makes them really unique, and it is an important factor taken into account by the Sorting Hat which matches each student with a particular house. Play this game to find out which one is a perfect fit for you!

Have Gilderoy Lockhart as a teacher or never take Defense Against the Dark Arts?

While Harry was a student at Hogwarts, the school definitely had some issues with their Defense Against the Dark Arts professors. Muggles aren't the only ones that follow celebrities and read tabloids! Not even close. The wizarding world has a group of celebrities of their own! Harry Potter was always famous for surviving Voldemort as a child. But, was pushed even more into the spotlight when he became one of the contestants in the Triwizard Tournament. He had Rita Skeeter interview him and learned that she wasn't always truthful with what her quill took down during these interviews. Would that be worth it or would you skip out on fame?

Tom Riddle and Harry Potter are two former Hogwarts students that are well-known in the wizarding world for two very different reasons. Even though they attended Hogwarts during two very different points in the school's history, the two of them actually crossed paths several times throughout the series, including at the school. How? Because Tom Riddle was the real name of Lord Voldemort! Before he was a powerful dark villain in the series, he was a regular Slytherin at Hogwarts.

In the wizarding world, there are a ton of different, totally awesome places that a witch or wizard can go. Although a lot of the Harry Potter series takes place in Hogwarts, the school that the main character and his friends attend, it's definitely not the only place that a witch or wizard can go to enjoy some of the magic of the wizarding world. Weasley's Wizard Wheezes is a joke store that Fred and George Weasley open during the series while Knockturn Alley is a location that contains some darker magical stores.

Students that are attending Hogwarts are allowed to bring quite a few items from home and can even bring a pet with them if they so choose. Along with the pets that Hogwarts students bring to the school, there are a lot of other animals at Hogwarts. Some of them are a little spooky, some of them are adorable, and some of them are technically not even animals. Would you rather wash Umbridge's collection of cat plates by hand or spend your time watching Hagrid's creatures?

Spend the day with Molly or Arthur Weasley?

Anyone familiar with the Harry Potter series will know that Harry, the main character of the series that it was named after, didn't exactly have the best family life when he was growing up. How sad, right? Luckily, after he met Ron, he got a whole new family in the Weasleys! Molly and Arthur are Ron's parents and are both parental figures to Harry but lead very different lives. Would you rather spend a day at The Burrow with Molly or at the Ministry with Arthur?

Come from a Muggle family or a magic family?

In the wizarding world, there are several different kinds of creatures. But, the human ones are divided into two groups: Muggles and all the supernatural creatures like witches and wizards, vampires, and werewolves, among others. Some people from Muggle families, like Hermione Granger herself, start displaying magical abilities and turn out to be a witch or wizard instead of just a Muggle like their parents! Would you rather come from a Muggle family and discover your magic as you grow up or come from a magic family and know about it all along?

No one wants to have something that doesn't work! Being a witch or wizard definitely means that having items that work is important because otherwise, who knows what will happen with your magic! When Ron broke his wand, the series demonstrated the fact that having a wand that isn't working right can make spells backfire in a pretty huge way. Yikes! This isn't a great thing but having a broom that doesn't fly where you're trying to go would be no good either.

Enter the Triwizard Tournament or just watch?

In the fourth installment of the Harry Potter series, we were introduced to the Triwizard Tournament, a competition that puts three - or, in this case, four - wizards from different schools together in order to compete in various tasks that test their magical skills, problem-solving abilities, and intelligence. Although winning the Triwizard Tournament is a huge honor for any witch or wizard that dares to enter, it's also a pretty dangerous tournament that not everyone is brave enough to try.

The Harry Potter series introduced us to so many amazing characters. Unfortunately for us fans of the series, the author of the series also took away several of the characters we grew to love over the course of the series. It was so not fair! There are quite a few characters that we lost during the series at one point or another that we wish we could bring back but unfortunately, we can't. If you could bring back Snape or Sirius, who would you choose?

Hogwarts is a school that has four houses. Each house has very different characteristics, as do the people who belong to those houses. The main character in the Harry Potter series is a Gryffindor, a house known for being brave and loyal, but that's not the only house that gets mentioned throughout the series. The main villain of the series was once a Slytherin and the remaining two houses are Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. If you were going to be in either of those two houses, which would it be?

Wizards, witches, and other supernatural beings like werewolves and Dementors aren't the only things that appear in the Harry Potter series. There are also humans that have no actual supernatural abilities of any type. No transforming under the full moon, no weakness to garlic, no magical abilities, no nothing! These people are either known as Muggles or Squibs. Muggles are people that are completely normal and from a normal family whereas a Squib is a person without magic who has magic parents.

Spend detention with Umbridge or Filch?

Getting detention at school is definitely not fun for us in the Muggle world. Being stuck at school for an extra hour or more to just sit in a quiet room? No thank you! At Hogwarts, detention is like most other things at the school in that it's way different from the Muggle world. In one installment in the Harry Potter series, Harry got detention and had to spend it with Umbridge writing lines. Yikes! Would you spend your detention with her or with Filch?

Spend the day with Moaning Myrtle or with Peeves?

Along with all the young witches and wizards that spend their time at Hogwarts learning to do magic, there are also quite a few ghosts and other creatures that call Hogwarts home. Some of them are pretty awesome while others are just downright irritating. Peeves and Moaning Myrtle are two paranormal creatures that appear in the series. Peeves is a poltergeist that causes all kinds of mayhem in the series while Moaning Myrtle is a super sad ghost that lives in one of the bathrooms.

Get a Howler or never get mail from home?

Being away at Hogwarts and away from your family for the school year would probably not be very easy! Especially not for someone who is close to their family normally. Getting mail from home would be awesome! But one piece of mail no one in the wizarding world wants is a Howler. This is a bright red letter that yells its contents at the person who received it. This letter definitely means you're in big trouble and everyone can hear about it! Would you rather get one of these once or never get mail from home?

Have an animal or a fictional creature as a Patronus?

A Dementor is known as one of the darkest creatures in the wizarding world. These creatures guard the walls of Azkaban and are known for performing an act called the Dementor's Kiss on anyone who they come into contact with. In order to combat these creatures, the only thing that a witch or wizard can do is cast a Patronus. A Patronus is a beam of light that takes the form of some kind of living being like an animal or even a fictional creature.

But, even inside of the houses, the people at Hogwarts tend to be somewhat different and unique from one another. We can think of so many items that we wish we had in the Muggle world but there are definitely some that would be more cool than handy. Hermione's Time Turner and the Elder Wand are two different items from the Harry Potter series that would be incredibly useful if they were real. Would you rather be able to turn back time or own the most powerful wand ever created?

A lot of the Harry Potter series focuses on the students while they're at Hogwarts. Going to a school to study magic and learn to use and control their magic, while also learning other things like how to create potions and the history of magic itself, is important! Education is definitely an important part of the life of many people, whether they're a Muggle or a witch or wizard. But life after leaving school is really important to think about as well!

There are a lot of different magical means of getting through a person's day-to-day life. Felix Felicis is a potion in the wizarding world that is more commonly known as "Liquid Luck." After a witch or wizard takes this potion, they become incredibly lucky until the potion wears off. This means that whatever they try to do will work out for them! This would be super handy to take whenever we were in need of some extra luck. It would also be really handy to be able to see into the future and know what life has in store for us.

Battle the mermaids with no Gillyweed or the dragons with no broomstick?

The Triwizard Tournament had a few pretty crazy tasks that the four contestants taking part in the Triwizard Tournament had to go through. The first two involved facing off against dragons and going into the lake which was full of mermaids. This meant the contestants needed to come up with some super creative ways to face these tasks. Gillyweed helped Harry to breathe underwater while his broom helped him to fly around and avoid being attacked by the dragons. Which would you rather face without Harry's advantages?

Be a Metamorphmagus like Tonks or an Animagus like McGonagall?

Magic isn't the only ability that many witches and wizards in the Harry Potter series have. There are even some in the series that have the special ability to transform the way they look! No, not just with a Polyjuice Potion, either. There are abilities that people can learn in order to become a Metamorphmagus, someone who can change their appearance whenever they want like Tonks, and an Animagus, someone who can turn into a certain animal-like McGonagall. We have some pretty tasty things to eat in the Muggle world but it's hard to watch or read the Harry Potter series without being jealous of their food! Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans are jelly beans that have just about every variation - both good and bad - that a person could imagine while Chocolate Frogs are magical chocolate candies in the shape of a frog.

Parseltongue is a language that appears in the Harry Potter series and is the language that snakes and other similar creatures speak. Along with these serpents using this language, there are a few select people that can speak Parseltongue, known as Parselmouths, but these people are super rare. Known Parselmouths from the series include Harry Potter, Salazar Slytherin, and Tom Riddle. This rare ability would be handy for many people but so would having a house-elf to do your homework for you while at Hogwarts!

Let's be honest, it takes a certain type of witch or wizard to accept a position on the staff at Hogwarts. While we can't deny that there are some really amazing, inspirational, and talented professors working at the magical school, there are also quite a few that aren't quite role models of ours. No offense to those professors! They were still an important part of the series. If you had to pick one of these quirky professors from the series, which would you want to be best friends with?

This question is one that might seem a little unusual to anyone who isn't familiar with the Harry Potter series but those of us who are super fans of the series will know that there's one character that actually had this choice. After proving he wasn't the loyal friend of Lily and James Potter that he pretended to be, Peter Pettigrew had to choose between owning up to his mistakes and spending over a decade disguised as a pet rat. Which would you choose?

Go on vacation with Vernon or Dudley Dursley?

Vernon and Dudley Dursley are two of Harry's Muggle family members. Vernon is his uncle, married to his late mother's sister, and Dudley is their incredibly spoiled son. They're not in the series a huge amount, primarily at the beginning of each installment in the series, but their impact on the series is one that many people definitely can't forget! Quidditch is a sport in the wizarding world that is similar to sports that we have here in the Muggle world. The main difference is that it's so much cooler! In the Harry Potter series, Harry grew up with his aunt and uncle and their super spoiled son, a family of Muggles known as the Dursley family. Unfortunately, he still had to spend the summer with them as summer and Christmas are the main times that students leave Hogwarts. With such awesome classes and some really cool students, we'd be fine with being paired up with just about anyone.

Even though Harry had lost his parents at a young age, he still had a lot of parental figures in the wizarding world to give him advice and words of wisdom when he needed them. Harry was really lucky to have so many awesome friends and other people in his life he could turn to! Dumbledore, the headmaster at Hogwarts, and Sirius Black, his godfather, were two of them who we would love to get to sit down with at the Leaky Cauldron and talk to for a little while.

As cool as it would be to just spend time at Hogwarts and have a good time there, we can't forget that it's still a school and focusing on our schoolwork is still super important! There are several different groups in the Harry Potter series that have come together to achieve different goals together.
