They make us laugh, cry, and call out in jealousy as we watch the beautiful actresses and actors fall in love with each other time and time again. Seriously though, how hard would it be for the universe to allow us all to meet the loves of our lives in an off chance elevator meeting, or at a bus stop or something. Where are our "meet cutes"?
Unfortunately for most of us, we are relegated to watching the overly romantic tales from the comfort of our couches, while we stuff our faces with what ever ice cream we have left in the freezer. These movies act as some what of a comfort to a lot of us though, maybe giving us hope, or maybe they're just good to have around for a laugh. A cult classic! Alicia Silverstone made a name for herself with this one. She plays Cher, a misguided, but kind, and very wealthy Beverly Hills high school student. She takes it upon herself to make-over the new girl, and that's when she starts to lose control over things. Watch or Skip?

Average Joe, falling in love with America's sweet heart, sounds like the most classic way to kick off a Rom-Com! Pairing up Julia Roberts with Hugh Grant almost doesn't seem fair, even people who hate the genre will want to watch these two on screen together. What do you think?
500 Days of Summer
We are not really sure how this one got classified as a Rom-Com. True, it's funny at times, and Zooey Deschanel has proven herself to be comedic gold in her hit show New Girl, but still this movie is revolves around a couples intense love, than rather sudden break-up. To be honest it's pretty sad. Watch or skip?
Pretty Women
And here we have her again, it would be impossible to create this kind of quiz without having her pop up a few times. America's sweet heart Julia Roberts, stars in this award winning classic. She plays the lovable "street worker" who falls in love with the rich business man. God, we love this movie. What about you?
You've Got Mail
A catfish story for before the internet was fully developed. O.k maybe not exactly a catfish, but still Meg Ryan, and Tom Hank's characters fall in love with each other online, not realizing who they actually are in real life : sworn enemies. Yikes. Would you Watch or skip this one?
13 Going on 30
Any Pat Benatar fans in the house? If you are this should be an easy watch option for you! Apart from the awesome soundtrack, this movie stars Jennifer Garner, who does a truly spectacular job at playing a 13 year old trapped in the body of a 30 year old. Would you watch it or would you skip it?
The 40-Year-Old Virgin
This one is almost no romance, and almost all comedy. Funny man, Steve Carell, was never able to get his love life off the ground, sometimes it just doesn't happen. He needs to impress his family with a beautiful, successful girlfriend, and she needs to marry him to stay in the country...seems legit right? When pairing up two people who look like Sandy B, and Ryan Reynolds do there is no chance they don't fall for each other. Come on its practically science. Watch or skip?

Apparently before we had dating apps, we had Hitch. The dating coach extraordinaire. He's smooth talking, handsome, and great with the ladies. The Big Sick
This movie only came out last year, so apologies for any spoilers in advance! We love this Rom-Com. Honestly if you haven't seen it yet, get on it! Kumail, is an Indian, struggling stand up comic (which ones aren't?), who meets and falls in love with an American girl Emily. Their romance is hilarious, but the movie, while remaining funny, takes a dark turn. Watch or skip?
The Wedding Singer
Who would have ever guessed that putting Adam Sandler, and Drew Barrymore, together would be as amazing as it is? Funnily enough, the cult classic in question here isn't there only Rom-Com together, the duo is unstoppable, and their chemistry undeniable! We think we probably know your answer already, but watch or skip?
Knocked Up
Another hilarious classic. It's a very bold move to cast Seth Rogan as a lead in a Rom-Com, but man did it ever pay off. What is most ironic about this film, is if you were to ask the writers who they regret casting the most, it would no doubt be Rom-Com regular Katherine Heigl. While she played her character well, after the film was released she does what she always tends to do, and dissed her own film. Not cool.
Crazy, Stupid, Love
Come on, would you just look at this A+ line up of actors, and actresses in this film! We have Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, and of course the ever charming, Ryan Gosling. Do you even need to know the plot before deciding whether you'd watch it or skip it? We don't think you do...
The Princess Bride
A magical tale for the ages. A classic story of a beautiful women, who is being kept apart from her one true love. As it usually goes, they spend the entire film fighting every evil separating them, until finally they can be reunited. Honestly it's a killer movie, and even better book. Would you watch, or skip?
There's Something About Mary
There is just something about Mary...Have you ever known a girl like that? A girl, who no matter who meets her, they instantly fall in love? If not, awesome for you whatever we don't care. Mary is played by a young Cameron Diaz, she is off beat, quirky, and well yea beautiful. Watch it, or skip it?

Have you ever watched a sitcom and wondered why the hell that guy is standing outside the girls window with a boombox over his head? Well this movie is your answer. The classic move originally came from the fan favorite Rom-Com, and it has been used in countless television shows, as well as other films! Watch, or skip?
Silver Linings Playbook
This movie is truly a master piece. Not only did it lead to Jennifer Lawrence's first Oscar win, but it also opened our eyes to the on screen magic between herself, and Bradley Cooper. The two do an incredible job at playing characters suffering from, depression, and other mental health issues. Honestly if you have skipped it in the past we recommend re-thinking.
The Holiday
This movie has all the makings of a Rom-Com classic. Two ladies, depressed, and sick of their day to day lives, decide to switch homes. One living in a California mansion, one living in a sweet little home in an England village. The only problem we can see with this film is that one of the two leading men is, Jack Black...who casts Jacks Black in a Rom-Com?!
50 First Dates
We just love these two together, Adam, and Drew's chemistry is just so perfect for this type of film. Drew Barrymore plays a women who tragically has no long term memory. Every night her memory wipes clean, causing her to re-live the same day over, and over. Once Adam Sandler's character meets her he knows there's only one thing that can be done...he has to make her fall in love with him all over again each day.
Never Been Kissed
Josie Geller, a writer for the Chicago Sun-Times, has the curse, and blessing of a young face. Her work asks her to go undercover at her old high school, to do research on trending teen topics. What could go wrong right? Well, of all the things that do go wrong, one thing may finally go right for Josie, when she falls for an English teacher.
Sweet Home Alabama
Who isn't a sucker for anything Patrick Dempsey does? In this movie, we see Melanie, a New York city diva about to be married to the man of her dreams. That story line lasts about 2 minutes, before we find out she must go back home to Alabama to get legally divorced from her first husband, before she can marry the next one.
27 Dresses
In this movie Katherine Heigl, plays a women who has been a bridesmaid, you guessed it, 27 times. Yikes. With no hope on the horizon of meeting her own sole mate, she begins to question if her love of weddings is healthy for her or not. Don't worry too much, she obviously finds a handsome man by the end. Watch, or skip?
About a Boy
After years of lying to women to get them to go out with him, Will finally meets his match, a 12 year old boy. Originally Will only needed him as an alibi, after creating a fake sun so he could attend single parent support meetings, to find eligible women. YUCK! Will eventually becomes friends with the boy, and as it turns out they were both in desperate need of this friendship.
Runaway Bride
Julia Roberts, and Richard Gere, are back at it again. Julia, plays Maggie, a bride who has, well, never been married. In fact she has left 3 grooms at the alter. After labeling her "the runaway bride" in an article, Ike, decides he has to be there for her 4th attempt down the aisle. Would you watch it, or skip it?
10 Things I Hate About You
Honestly, if you're a 90's kid and you press skip on this one, we are judging you pretty hard. This film is an iconic 90's hit. Not to mention it stars Heath Ledger, he was young, talented, and so very handsome. R.I.P. How do you feel about this angsty teenage classic? Watch or skip?
Trainwreck
Any film that stars Bill Hader as a leading man, gets our vote that is for sure! Also Amy Schumer ain't bad in it at all. She was actually the writer of the film, which is just awesome. GIRL POWER! Amy plays a scared of commitment, magazine writer. The way she's always lived her while life is challenged however when she is put on a story about dreamy sports doctor Aaron Conners.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
This one is surprisingly hilarious. I mean of course it's labeled a Rom-Com so it should be funny, but this movie actually has some really big laughs within it. Kate Hudson is trying to write an article on how to ditch a guy, only issue is she's fallen in love with the guy she's supposed to be ditching... Watch or skip?
Wedding Crashers
Man, this movie is funny. It's no secret that putting Vince Vaughn, and Owen Wilson, together in a film is comedy gold, but add in Amy Adams, and Rachel McAdams, and you've got yourself a hilarious and romantic film. Vaughn, and Wilson, play notorious wedding crashers, who take it too far during one wedding.
Shakespeare in Love
A beautiful tale, of a young Shakespeare, who is out of ideas, and in desperate need of some adventure, or a new love to shake things up, and unblock his writing struggles. Luckily he meets a stunning women, who of course is forbidden. We all know how the rest goes... Watch or skip?
Shallow Hal
We must ask again. how does Jack Black keep landing roles in Rom-Coms? I guess in this one he is a little less out of place than the others. He plays a pig headed, shallow, man (honestly has he ever seen himself?), who gets hypnotized so that he sees beauty in everyone. Would you watch it or skip it?
Two Weeks Notice
Another Sandy. B classic. We really do love her. She plays a lawyer, who is treated more as an assistant by her boss George. She is his go-to for everything from law inquiries, to dating advice. Naturally she grows fed-up and decides to give her two weeks notice. Leaving may be a bit trickier than she thought though...
Maid in Manhattan
Did you guys really think we could make an entire quiz on Rom-Com's without J-Lo being featured? Never, she is a triple threat after all. Maid in Manhattan is a story of a women who was raised poor, and who works as a maid in a fancy Manhattan hotel. Obviously this is where she meets, a wealthy, attractive man. Watch or skip?
Along Came Polly
Ben stiller, and Jennifer Aniston, are the stars of this one. We have to also mention the secondary character, Sandy, played by the late, and extremely talented, Philip Seymour Hoffman. His character alone makes the film worth watching. That is not to say that Ben, and Jen don't do a fantastic job on their part either.
The Break-Up
Sorry to spoil this for anyone who hasn't watched it yet, but this movie is literally about a horrible break-up. If you watched only the first half, and thought "man, why even continue, they obviously get back together" you could not have been more wrong. This may be the Rom-Com with the least happy ending ever. Watch or skip?
She's All That
A popular high school boy, seems to have the world figured out. He has a super hot girlfriend, and all the friends he could ever need. That is until his girlfriend dumps him, and his reputation takes a nose dive. What other choice does he have, other than to re-make the high school outcast into the next prom-queen.
Just Friends
This isn't just a classic Rom-Com, but a holiday time favorite as well. It actually is a deeply funny movie. Ryan Reynolds was an overweight kid, living in a small town, not an easy situation. He swears when he grows up, he will be better than anyone who ever laughed at him. Well he was kind of right, but also kind of wrong...Watch it or skip it?
He's Just Not That into You
Based off the award winning novel, this movie sets out to teach us a very important lesson. Stop chasing people, if they like you great, if they don't, their loss. Funny because, most of our parents spent years trying to teach us this important message, but as if were listening to our mothers about love.
