Waiting for Christmas for almost one more month to spread some cheer might be a bit too long for some. So, a rom-com might do the trick instead! Whether we are hopeless romantics or not, everyone out there has seen a rom-com movie or two. They show us a brighter side in life and sometimes all a bad mood needs in order to be fixed is watching something positive; a film that can bring out a smile at any given time.
From Sixteen Candles (1984) and Pretty in Pink (1986) to Love, Simon (2018) and When we First Met (2018) the rom-com never gets old because sometimes a corny movie is all we need. Whether the love story is old (a modernized Jane Austen adaptation with a funny twist for instance) or brand new (take a pick), rom-coms have the effect we ask for: a love story that can change us, a love story that holds against all odds, a love story that has its ups and downs that manages to make us believe in love once again.

500 Days of Summer
Not the typical rom-com (the guy doesn't get the girl) but definitely a realistic take on love! Although we know from the beginning that this love story does not have a happy ending, we still enjoy it because even if it doesn't last, it did happen and while they were together their feelings were real.
Ibiza
When Harper (Gillian Jacobs) is sent to Spain for a business trip, her friends Nikki (Vanessa Bayer) and Leah (Phoebe Robinson) decide to tag along. There, Harper meets Leo West (Richard Madden), a DJ that she instantly likes. Convinced by her friends that this is destiny, Harper focuses on Leo rather her work and has a great time. After returning home, will she see him again?
The Proposal
Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) will do anything to get his dream job! He is even willing to marry his boss Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) apparently! As Margaret's visa is about to expire, she pretends that she is engaged to be married to Andrew, so that she can keep her job.

Regan (Kirsten Dunst) Gena (Lizzy Caplan) and Katie (Isla Fisher) are asked to be the bridesmaids of Becky (Rebel Wilson) a woman that they treated badly in high school, but was supposedly their friend. The night before the wedding, after destroying Becky's wedding dress, they have to fix it, but also have to face their exes to make things right again.

Sarah (Lizzy Kaplan) breaks up with her boyfriend after he proposes to her, and then starts dating Jonathan (Mark Webber). As months pass by, she realizes that her fear of commitment needs to be worked at. Will she return to Kevin (Geoffrey Arend) or will she stay with Jonathan?
What Happens in Vegas
What happened in Vegas didn't stay at Vegas this time. After a night of drinking Joy (Cameron Diaz) and Jack (Ashton Kutcher) end up married, and with a lot of money that they have to share! For this reason, they have to pretend that they are a happy married couple, and perhaps they become one after all.
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) loves to shop until she drops! With a growing debt and a lot of shoes, she has to get a job to sustain her lifestyle. There she meets Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy) and although they are quite different, there seems to be something that's connecting them.
She's the Man
A modern version of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night or What you Will, She's the Man follows Viola (Amanda Bynes) as she tries to hide her feelings for Duke (Channing Tatum) while pretending to be a guy! What's more, Duke seems to be in love with another woman, Olivia Lennox (Laura Ramsey). Will Viola get the guy?
Love Actually
It's almost that time of the year again, and Love Actually is a must-watch for Christmas. A lot of different love stories are presented to us. Some of them have good endings and others don't, but the overall atmosphere of the film is very positive (every ending is a new beginning!)

A new take on the Cinderella fairy tale, Ella Enchanted follows the life of Ella (Anne Hathaway) a girl who has been cursed to servile obedience. Unable to disobey others, Ella isn't free. On a journey to find her freedom, she also has to save the prince Char (Hugh Dancy).
