When it comes to movies, guys usually opt for action films, science fiction movies or thrillers. Girls on the other hand tend to prefer romantic comedies and romantic dramas. Most girls are also not indifferent towards period dramas either. Perhaps this is why romantic comedies, romantic dramas and period dramas are known as "girly movies".
Of course, that is not to say that all guys avoid movies that fall into one of the above mentioned "girly" categories. Nonetheless, on average, guys do lean towards films with plenty of action. Think exciting car chases, improbable fight scenes, and exploding buildings. Girls on the other hand like their movies to contain plenty of romance and witty dialogue. A happy ending is always a plus too.
Fortunately, there are plenty of such "girly" movies out there. Some of them are amazing, others are only okay. Some of them have made stars out of our favorite actors, others could not stop them from slipping into obscurity. Most of us have seen all - or almost all - the girly movies out there. And let's be honest - we all had a crush on one or two of the leading men that we saw on the big screen, whether it was Jack from the Titanic or Noah from The Notebook. But can the movies that we have seen predict our soulmate's sign?
No Strings Attached?
Emma and Adam are two friends who decide to have some fun without committing to one another. However, feelings soon get involved and a “no strings attached” relationship suddenly does not seem like the best option. Another movie that was based on a novel of the same name, The Devil Wears Prada was released in 2006 and starred Meryl Streep (who played a demanding editor of a prestigious magazine) and Anne Hathaway (who played the role of an intern). The Fault In Our Stars?
As most are without doubt aware, the 2014 romantic drama The Fault in Our Stars was based on a novel of the same name that was written by John Green (Goodreads). Starring Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Ansel Elgort and Willem Dafoe (IMDb) among others, this film focuses on two teenage cancer patients who can’t help but fall in love.
Valentine's Day?
Valentine’s Day is slightly unusual in that it focuses on a number of different characters whose lives are all interconnected in one way or another. Released in 2010, this movie starred a great number of Hollywood A-listers, including Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Alba (IMDb) among many others.
