What is it about watching couple fall in love on the big screen that makes us all so mushy? We cry for them, we root for them, we sometimes jump out of our seats and yell at our screen simply because we just want them to work out! It is irrational, but who cares, we love to do it! It takes a lot to make a killer movie romance, and it is not only the job of the writers to make us really buy into it either. The actors and actresses have to have chemistry, if that is lacking then it does not matter how beautiful the love story is, we won't fall for them. Over the years we have seen almost every kind of romance spring up in these films, but we so rarely agree on which ones were truly the best, and which ones needed a little work. Pat & Tiffany (Silver Linings Playbook)
These two knocked this movie out of the park. The film itself was a master piece, but these two truly brought life to their characters, and they were both well recognized for the work. Pat and Tiffany managed to find each other against all odds, and actually healed each other along the way. Pick or pass?
John & Jane Smith (Mr. & Mrs. Smith)
On the outside these two were just extremely attractive boring people, but secretly they were both extremely attractive assassins. Now that is a story line! This role was enough to make Brad and Angelina fall in love with each other in real life, but what about fans at home? Pick or pass?
Harry & Sally (When Harry Met Sally)
These two try to answer the age old question of whether or not a man and women can strictly be friends without having any romantic involvement. Well, if we go off their research we would have to say no, but we don't know how conclusive it really was... One thing we know for sure, this couple had major chemistry! Pick or pass?
Vada Sultenfuss & Thomas J. Sennett ( My Girl)
Better to break the tissues out before starting on this one... Vada and Thomas were the adorable young couple who never got the chance they deserved. They were just children learning what it was like to fall in love for the first time, when tragically Thomas lost his life, leaving Vada to learn even harder lessons at such a young age. Edward & Vivian (Pretty Women)
The Cinderella story that got the entire world talking. Edward the rich powerful, yet lonely man. Vivian the love worker from the wrong side of town, with an excellent attitude. These two truly needed each other. She saved him just as much as he saved her. If anyone picks pass for this one we would have to say "BIG MISTAKE...HUGE!"
Danny & Sandy (Grease)
Whether we are musical fans or not, these two had a dream 50's romance. Sandy was innocent and beautiful, Danny smoking hot, but a bad boy for sure. How much were they both willing to change to make their love story work? For that answer we may actually need to be into musicals... Pick or pass?
Landon Carter & Jamie Sullivan (A Walk to Remember)
Another heart breaker. Landon was a good kid who hung out with the wrong crowd (it is so easy to let that happen in high school). Jamie was always good and pure however. Once they were paired together for the school musical there was no turning back, they were in love, and would see it through to the very end. Pick or pass?
Melanie & Jake (Sweet Home Alabama)
While most would argue that Patrick Dempsey is an excellent choice for a partner, in this story specifically there is no denying who the right choice was. Jake and Melanie were meant to be together, she just needed to leave town to know for sure. Patrick's character wasn't a bad guy, but as we all know, you can't fight history. Pick or pass?
William Shakespeare & Viola de Lesseps ( Shakespeare in Love)
This tale was a delightful twist on history. A really fun way to portray the famous author. While suffering from writers block, William is in desperate need of a muse. That is when Viola comes along. Pretending to be a man so she can act in his plays, she is quickly found out, but steals the heart of the play write himself. Pick or pass?
Peter & Rachel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall)
Now it's time to lighten things up a bit! These two were down right hilarious in an already funny film. In an attempt to mend his broken heart Peter takes a trip to Hawaii, only to find out he is staying at the same resort as his ex. Yikes! Luckily he meets Rachel, a pretty local girl working at the resort. She was exactly what he needed in his life. Pick or pass?
Kat Stratford & Patrick Verona (10 Things I Hate About You)
A 90's classic that will forever be relevant. There are so many reasons to love this movie, and the fact that Heath Ledger was in it, is only one of them. These two kids are misunderstood, but that seems to be the way they like it. Until however, they meet each other and finally find out what it is like to be known for who they truly are. Pick or pass?
Jenna & Matt (13 Going on 30)
These two taught us the important lesson that things are not always greener on the other side. Jenna used a birthday wish to give her the life she thought she wanted, but little did she know, what she wanted was the chubby boy standing right in front of her all along. A charming story all around. Pick or pass?
Alison Scott & Ben Stone (Knocked Up)
While this movie was loved by most because of it's super funny cast, and story line, this couple did not instantly get everyone's vote. They had a great story, and both played their parts wonderfully, but a lot of people claimed their chemistry just wasn't there. Who would agree with that? Pick or pass?
William & Anna (Notting Hill)
How many of us would be willing to completely change our lives to make our relationship work? These two were faced with that exact dilemma in this film. People are still trying to figure out how they feel about these two. The movie was unconventional in the sense that it built up like a love story, but was ultimately about how even the greatest loves can fizzle out in time. Ugh! So sad! Before there was "Step Up" there was this film. A classic story of a girl from a nice neighborhood who loses it all, but just before giving up on life entirely, she meets a wonderful man who changes how she sees the world. It is a beautiful story no doubt, but did we love the couple? Pick or pass?
Shrek & Fiona (Shrek)
No doubt these two are everyone's favorite ogre couple out there. There has never been a better story to teach us that there is someone out there for everyone, even a grumpy old ogre. Edward Cullen & Bella Swan (Twilight Saga)
O.k, there is a lot of controversy over this couple. Fans of the series will stand by them no matter what, but others have voiced their concerns about there over idealized (not to mention scary) relationship. He is a monster who needs full concentration not to eat her, but his love for her allows him to do that. She just as in love with him, now has to chose between her relationship and her safety. This was the modern day Rom-Com everyone needed in their lives. It is funny, sad, romantic, and realistic all at the same time, go figure! They are from different backgrounds, and she is about to go through something horrible, can they come out on the other side of it together? Pick or pass?
Chris Brander & Jamie Palamino (Just Friends)
A classic holiday couple! These two were high school best friends, but Chris secretly always wanted more. While there were a few good couple to root for in this series, Ron and Hermione was the only one we got to see develop from the very beginning. This will be a tough one for people to pass on. Since these two meet at a cancer support group it was fairly obvious early on that this film was going to be a heart breaker. We feel it appropriate to add in at least one MCU love story to this quiz, since the franchise has been leading the movie world for so many years now.
