It is incredibly tough to get into the acting industry. Indeed, it takes not only talent and hard work but also plenty of good luck to make it in Hollywood. In addition, not every actor who lands a major role in a major movie is guaranteed future work. Only too often actors gain international recognition and then slip into relative obscurity. They might still be active and they might appear in a movie or two but that doesn't matter if no one is interested in them anymore and if the media only mentions them once or twice a year.

As sad as it might be, Hollywood is a rather shallow place which means that more often than not actresses are judged not only on their acting talent but also on their appearance (although of course there are exceptions). And it is not just casting teams and directors who judge - we the viewers also have our own preferences that are based not only on talent but also on looks, as well as other factors such as personality. Chances are, if we don't like an actress we won't bother remembering her name. On the other hand, if we do like an actress - her talent, her looks and her personality - we will strive to remember her name and we will make an attempt to keep up with both her personal and her professional life.
