Yes, we may cheer them from time to time, but make no mistake when it comes to their on-screen characters, WWE's McMahon family are a bunch of heels. We admire Vince for building the WWE, Shane for his over-the-top daring feats during his matches and the brashness and strength of Stephanie McMahon, but at the end of the day, they are wrestling bad guys.
One of the nice things about the presentation of the family members is that while they have occasionally worked together, they've all created their own little universes within the WWE. They don't need to lean on each other at all and have been involved in varied storylines that has seen all of them as wrestlers, managers, and authority figures. They've also each nailed their respective roles.
The exercise for you here is to take a look at the picture we'll present. It features two or more WWE heels through history. Granted, some have also spent time as fan favorites, so they could currently be receiving cheers, but the people on this list are heels through and through. We need you to pick which of these heels is your favorite. By the end, we'll be able to tell you which member of the McMahon family you really are.
Carmella or James Ellsworth?
It was an unlikely pairing of new arrivals to the WWE that somehow just really worked...when neither really found their stride elsewhere. Carmella was a rarely used worker who was more a valet to Enzo and Cass than legit wrestler in NXT. Ellsworth bounced around the indies for years and years with little traction. Which heel is your favorite?
Batista or Titus O'Neil?
That's right, bad guys can make delicious food, too! Batista hasn't been seen inside a WWE ring for about four years and Titus seems to be entrenched as the leader of whatever Titus Worldwide is supposed to be, but these guys both had great runs as heels. Which is your favorite heel?
John Bradshaw Layfield or Ron Simmons?
Ron Simmons is already in the WWE Hall of Fame and JBL will likely be inducted in the next few years. While the Acolytes won't be remembered as the most decorated WWE tag team, JBL went on to play the rich tycoon while Simmons perfected ability to say the word "Damn!" Which one of these heels was your favorite?
Braun Strowman or Vader?
Here's a fun match-up between giants of today and yesterday. Both served the same role as the big man who was nearly unbeatable and wrecked the competition. Unfortunately, it's only in the world of WWE video games that you'll ever be able to see these two monsters go at it. Which one of these heels is your favorite?
Eddie Guerrero or Chavo Guerrero?
Now it's time to pick between family members. Obviously Eddie had a long career, winning championships all over the world before his death. Chavo never got as famous, but his career has been even longer, most recently spending time in Lucha Underground. Who was your favorite heel?
The Miz or John Morrison/Johnny Mundo/Johnny Nitro?
The Miz has been tearing it up and driving people crazy in the WWE for well over a decade while the man in the picture with him likes to travel and be called Johnny Something-Or-Other. The Miz never stooped to being a good guy, but is that enough to make him your favorite heel over Johnny Pick-A-Last-Name-Already?
Seth Rollins or Dean Ambrose?
Yeah, they get cheered like crazy now, but The Shield started out a group of heel mercenaries with Rollins and Ambrose definitely being the true bad guys of the group while Roman Reigns kind of looked on and nodded. Cheer them now, but deep down, which one of these heels is your favorite?
Goldust or Stardust?
There are plenty of other names both of these guys have gone by, and you pick any of those as well. Cody Rhodes is actually doing a great job as a heel on the independent circuit. It's just too bad nobody sees it. Goldust is coming to the end of a career that was best when he was bad. Your favorite heel?
Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn?
After reports that they were sent home for legitimately acting like heels while on a European tour, you can't go wrong with either choice here. They're longtime best friends, but which of the two would you let wear the favorite heel title?
Brutus Beefcake or Greg "The Hammer" Valentine?
We're going old school for this next matchup. Beefcake and Valentine were part of a tag-team known as The Dream Team, but broke up at WrestleMania III, over 30 years ago, the same night Hogan slammed Andre the Giant. Which one of the two is your favorite heel?
The Four Horsemen
While there was always another member in the mix, it was really these four guys who made up the nucleus of The Four Horseman. We're not going to count JJ Dillon here because he was a manager, so of Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson and Ric Flair, let us know know which was your favorite heel.
The New Wyatt Family
This version, consisting of Randy Orton, Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt were only around for a short time in late 2016 and early 2017, which is too bad, because it put three boring wrestlers together and allowed us a chance to use the bathroom. Nonetheless, which is your favorite?
Rusev or Lana?
Here's our only husband and wife heel combination on the list. They've got them separated at the moment, but we always thought they operated better as a duo than as solo acts. Their evilness multiplies by at least 10. But who is the better heel, IYO?
Ric Flair or Roddy Piper?
This was probably the hardest choice on the list for us. You've got the Dirtiest Player in the Game vs. The Rowdy One. Arguably the best two heels on the microphone in the history of wrestling, which one would call your favorite heel of the two?
Dolph Ziggler or Mr. Perfect?
Here's another fun fantasy match-up that can only exist in our imaginations between two very similar wrestlers. It makes you think Dolph Ziggler just may have been born about 15-20 years too late. He would have been a great 1980s heel. Which one is your favorite?
Neville or Enzo Amore?
Apparently, Neville left the company because he didn't like being treated like a heel and Enzo walks around being one in real life. Neville was an amazing wrestler with almost no personality while 'Zo is all personality and no talent. In this argument, which one is your favorite heel?
Cesaro or Sheamus?
Here are two guys that have been both heels and babyfaces who couldn't find much success until they teamed up, turning into bad guys in the process. They call themselves The Bar, but which one is just a little bit head of the other in terms of being your favorite heel?
Nikolai Volkoff or The Iron Sheik?
The last time a "foreign menace" was actually seen as one by the crowds was 35 years ago when Russian Nikolai Volkoff teamed up with The Iron Sheik under the management of Fred Blassie. They played key heels in helping create Hulkamania, but which heel is your favorite?
Kevin Nash or Scott Hall?
As the Outsiders and then as a larger part of the nWo, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall redefined what it meant to be a heel when they became the most popular bad guys to that point in the history of the business. Comprising half of the Kliq, which of these two is your favorite heel?
Randy Orton or Jinder Mahal?
It's always strange to see Randy Orton as a good guy, because he just comes off as a heel no matter what he does. It's weird to see Jinder in a main event position because we're so used to him losing to everybody, but he has made the most of his run. Which of these two former WWE champions is your favorite heel?
Hawk or Animal?
Yes, they did mostly wrestle together, but each did have periods of their career where they enjoyed solo runs. Known as both The Legion of Doom and The Road Warriors during their run, they always worked better as heels than faces. Which one really captivated your attention?
Samoa Joe or Brock Lesnar?
It's a recent battle of the big men that saw Brock Lesnar narrowly beat Samoa Joe inside the ring, but when it comes to charisma, Joe clearly has the edge. Paul Heyman is such a good talker it hides the fact Lesnar is so bad. Which one is your favorite heel?
Tully Blanchard or Arn Anderson?
Last time we had these two as part of the Four Horseman, you probably picked Ric Flair because it was Ric Flair. You would have been crazy not to, so let's take a look at The Brain Busters. They weren't flashy, but they were great. Which one was your favorite heel?
The Social Outcasts
Take four guys who probably won three matches between them in all of 2015 and what do you get? The Social Outcasts. This short-lived team was a hilarious idea and should have been given more time to work. Which of the quartet was head and shoulders above the rest when it came to being your favorite heel?
Paige or Alberto Del Rio
They're a couple in real life and it seems like the Internet really doesn't like either of these troublemakers. They're both much better performers when they are heel vs. babyface, probably because it just comes much more natural. Which one is your favorite heel?
