If you love cartoons, being alive with internet access in 2018 is a great privilege. Not only do you have a ton of new cartoons to watch, but there's also the countless animations that have been passed down from generation to generation. These are the greatest gifts of entertainment, from mastermind studios like Disney, Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network. That's not to mention the stampede of amazing anime coming at us from Japan.
Depending on how old you are, you've probably grown up with a specific set of animated companions. Some of the cartoon characters on this list will be deeply familiar, while others will pass you by without an inkling of nostalgia.
The animated world looks so fun, and the possibilities within it are limitless. That's enough to make us want to hop into one of those Looney Tunes black holes and emerge on the other side in cartoon form. Then our endless tales would truly begin, and we'd leave our commonplace job as quizmaster far behind us.
But alas, there's no black hole in sight. Only a wee little quiz with dreams of animation inside it. Wandering quiz takers: pick your favorite animated characters here, and we'll try to guess how old you are.
Yogi Bear or Bojack Horseman?
One is a heroic bear, the other is a deadbeat horse. The two might have some things in common, but definitely not the time period in which they were released. Tell us which you prefer: Yogi Bear, or Bojack Horseman?
Dee Dee or Minnie Mouse?
Both of these ladies are troublemakers - maybe one more than the other. Dee Dee could never stop running around and destroying everything in Dexter's Lab, while Minnie seemed to enjoy pulling Mickey's heart on a string. Which cartoon lady do you prefer?
Bugs Bunny or Jackie Chan?
Bugs Bunny is a legend who can do seemingly anything. The exact same thing can be said for Jackie Chan, including his animated form in Jackie Chan Adventures. Both shows were quite popular back in their day - which is your favorite character?
Superman or Goku?
The battle of all battles has made its way into this quiz. Let's ignore Screw Attack's conclusion over which fighter is stronger - what we're asking you is which is your favorite. Maybe you stick to the classics, or you like something more recent and a little more zany.
Tweety or Dexter?
Dexter, the genius child, is always trying to cook up some grand master plan in his laboratory. However, he usually gets thwarted by his sister Dee Dee. Meanwhile, Tweety just hangs out in her cage avoiding Sylvester the cat. Which cartoon character is your favorite?
Betty Boop or Hank Hill?
Betty Boop is like an animated cousin of Marilyn Monroe - she certainly appears to have been born of the same era. Meanwhile, Hank Hill is about the furthest thing from Marilyn Monroe that you can get. Which of these vastly different characters do you prefer?
Daffy Duck or Morty?
Everyone has at least something that resembles a Daffy Duck impression in their back pockets. Meanwhile, not many people feel inclined to do a Morty impression - he's just not that imitable. However, he's great, and we get the feeling that you prefer him over Daffy. Or do you?
Doug or Fred Flintstone?
Doug was an awesome catch-all cartoon featuring an assortment of colorful characters (literally - Doug had green and purple friends). The Flintstones, though comparatively void of color, had dinosaurs in it, which was great. Tell us which of these cartoon characters you prefer.
SpongeBob or Mickey Mouse?
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob Squarepants! Absorbent and yellow and porous - okay, we're done. Basically, we're asking if you prefer SpongeBob or Mickey Mouse. That's all, we just felt like breaking out into song. Because why not?
Foghorn Leghorn or Peter Griffin?
Both of these characters are big and burly, which is about all they have in common. Foghorn Leghorn is a talking rooster while Peter Griffin is a... stupid person. But he's funny, as they both are. Which of these characters is your favorite?
Goofy or Samurai Jack?
Look up, in the mountains - it's Samurai Jack! This classic Cartoon Network character is a cult classic for his crazy samurai moves. Meanwhile, goofy is an American icon for his signature goofiness and clumsiness. What do you like - constant stumbling or agility and grace?
Pikachu or Porky Pig?
It's an electric mouse! It's a talking pig! Whatever do we do? Oh, it's alright, they're friendly. Well of course they are - they're both iconic cartoon characters who would never harm a hair on a fan. The question is, which of these are you truly a fan of?
Dora the Explorer or Garfield?
Dora is always off on an adventure with her pet Monkey bubbles. She's one of the most curious, productive young cartoon characters we know. Meanwhile, Garfield the cat sits on his bum all day waiting for lasagna. Though, maybe that's just as well.
Powerpuff Girls or Popeye?
The Powerpuff girls were created from sugar, spice and everything nice. Meanwhile, Popeye was reproduced like a regular human being. Despite that, he has power that can arguably match the Powerpuff girls thanks to his can of spinach. Which of these characters do you prefer?
He-Man or Saitama?
Both He-Man and Saitama are extraordinarily powerful, though one of them is arguably way cooler than the other. Depending on which character you find more awesome, we might be able to guess your age. So, which is it: He-Man, or Saitama?
Jake or Homer?
Jake is a cartoon dog who can do extraordinary things. Homer is a cartoon human who can't do much of anything extraordinary. He can bust out a mean belch, if that counts for anything. Do you like the dog, or the drunk?
Professor X or Rick?
These two professors both did/do wonders in playing the intellectual idol of their respective generations. In X-Men: The Animated Series, Professor Xavier did his best to keep the mutants calm and happy to do their duty to humanity. In Rick & Morty, Rick seems to make scientific miracles happen for his own pleasure.
Piccolo or Pink Panther?
Here's another face-off between anime and American classic animation. We tend to prefer one over the other, but the race might be a little closer for you. Piccolo and the Pink Panther are both cool cats in their own ways.
Tasmanian Devil or Squidward?
The Tasmanian Devil is full of energy, running across the desert for seemingly decades on end. Meanwhile, Squidward is super tired all the time, and he seems to have nothing but bad or boring things to say. We still love him, though, as might you.
Marvin the Martian or Stan?
Marvin the Martian always had an oblique role in the Looney Tunes franchise. He popped up once in a while, contributing little, but was always enjoyable to see. Stan, meanwhile, is one of four weird little boys who have defined a generation of other weird little boys.
Naruto or Bobby Hill?
In a glorious combat, it's probably no question who would win in a fight between Naruto and Bobby Brown. However, this quiz is not about fighting prowess: it's about the characters you like most, and how old you are. So, go ahead and pick.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Ash Ketchum?
All of the ninja turtles have their own combat experience and character qualities to share. They also share pizza. Meanwhile, Ash Ketchum has tunnel vision: he wants to be the very best, like no one ever was. Which of these characters are your favorite?
Vegeta or The Animaniacs?
Vegeta is everyone's favorite anti-hero from Dragon Ball Z. Who can forget that original fight against Goku, not to mention the subsequent glorious battles that would follow. Meanwhile, the Animaniacs are trolls that live in a water tower. So it goes.
Arnold or Barney Rubble?
Arnold is a nonchalant young kid who just wants to hang out with his friends. Barney Rubble is Fred Flintstone's best pal, and all he wants is a good life for his family. You'll probably prefer one of these over the other depending on how old you are.
Woody Woodpecker or Tommy?
If you hear a non-mechanical rattling in the morning outside your door, go check it out - it might be Woody Woodpecker, in which case shenanigans would surely follow. Another place to find Shenanigans is in the playpen, where Tommy and his fellow Rugrats are surely cooking up a mean scheme.
