Pokemon trainers assemble - today is a glorious day. The sun is up in all its pixelated glory, the tall grass sways with a light breeze, and a hundred Pokemon have gathered here to duke it out in an epic tournament.
In this series of 1 on 1 matches, each Pokemon will have to push themselves to their outer limits in order to be the last one standing. As they duke it out amongst themselves, you can try figuring out which 'mons will emerge victorious.
Since you've come here in the first place, we assume you know at least a little bit about Pokemon battles. If you do, you'll know that there are plenty of factors at play during any given exchange. For instance, a type advantage in a Pokemon match is significant, but that won't matter much if the recipient of the Super Effective attack is able to take the blow and dish out a finishing one in turn. Then there are the Pokemons' respective abilities to consider, aside from their numerous potential move sets.
When all is said and done, this will be a tournament worth remembering. Let's find out how much Pokemon battling experience you really have. Which of these Pokemon will win?
Aerodactyl vs Kangaskhan
Since this looks to be Brock's Aerodactyl, and that Kangaskhan seems ready to counter the first blow, we're starting this quiz off with an explosive encounter. There are a number of potential ways for this to play out, but only one Pokemon can win.
Butterfree vs Beedrill
In a classic match up, we have two fully evolved Bug type Pokemon from the first generation of the games. Can Butterfree put Beedrill to sleep before getting hit by a devastating Poison Jab? What do you think?
Magneton vs Gengar
Magneton is strong, but so is Gengar. Since these Pokemon tend to favor Special moves, this match will be a dazzling show to witness. Better steer clear of any stray Thunderbolts or Shadow Balls, for sure. Who wins this one?
Shuckle vs Poliwrath
Shuckle is easily one of the tankiest Pokemon to ever be released from Game Freak's lab, but it's more of a utility 'mon than a one on one contender. Meanwhile, Poliwrath seems ready to flip this turtle. What's going to happen?
Stantler vs Persian
These animalistic 'mons are facing each other down, and neither of them seems willing to back away. It looks like Stantler and Persian are about to clash, and their battle is bound to be a furious one. Who wins this one?
Rapidash vs Dodrio
Rapidash is definitely not the type of Pokemon we'd be interested in getting in the way of, but of course, we can say the exact same thing about Dodrio. Thing is, right now, these fearsome beasts are in the way of each other.
Tentacruel vs Primeape
It's Tentacruel vs Primeape in yet another epic Pokemon clash. Tentacruel has the bulk and typing to resist Primeape's Fighting type moves, but let's not forget the monkey's access to Earthquake. What on Earth is going to happen?
Suicune vs Milotic
Two Water types are duking it out to see who's best. Suicune is a Legendary beast, but let's not count Milotic out quite yet. It's important to consider her longevity in battle, though we have to consider Suicune's, too.
Heracross vs Wigglytuff
This match up would have been clearly in Heraross' favor a few generations back, when Wigglytuff was still a pure Normal type. As it stands, though, Wigglytuff's secondary Fairy typing makes her a great contender. Who wins this?
Garchomp vs Haxorus
Two formidable Dragons are in a clash of titans, and only one monster will be standing once the dust clears. Garchomp is a heavily used Pokemon to this day, though we definitely won't count Haxorus out quite yet.
Jolteon vs Flareon
Who would have thought that two of Eevee's older brothers would be engaged in such a high stakes battle? With a crowd of observers watching, it's hard to say which 'mon will come out on top. What do you think?
Scyther vs Mr. Mime
Scyther dashes in scythe first, ready to end it all in one blow. But let's not forget how sneaky ole Mr. Mime can be. This Pokemon match might turn out to mirror a chess game - swiftly played and swiftly won.
Regice vs Registeel
It's a battle of the Regis, and these two titans are not messing around, not in the slightest. Between these Ice and Steel 'mons, we're bound to see an explosive confrontation, albeit a slow one since they're both kind of tanky.
Arbok vs Weezing
It looks like Jessie and James have gotten into another argument, and they've decided to settle their differences in a good ol' fashioned Pokemon battle. Only one of these Poison types will emerge victorious - who will it be?
Pichu vs Togepi
Picku is unleashing its most powerful Thunder attack, aiming it straight at Togepi's face. However, Togepi is in the middle of charging up his metronome, and who knows what menacing force is about to emerge. Who's going to win?
Pidgeot vs Noctowl
We'll need to hop in the helicopter to watch this one. Better watch out for stray Brave Birds and Hurricanes, though. These two Flying types don't mess around, and there's bound to be at least a stray Gust or two headed our way.
Hitmonlee vs Hitmonchan
You knew this wouldn't be a real Pokemon battle royale without these two eventually clashing together. Hitmonlee has been working on his kicks, but of course, Hitmonchan does nothing at all but practice his punches. Which of these fighters will win?
Magmar vs Electabuzz
These two Pokemon rarely meet in battle, but when they do, it results in an unforgettable spectacle each time. There's no type advantages here - just pure Fire versus pure Electricity. What's going to happen in this fight?
Pelipper vs Exploud
Pelipper is showing off his ability to gobble up Water, Electric and Fire type moves like they were nothing but cereal. Exploud tends to use these movies, but it wants to see what Pelipper does with its Mega Kick. Oh boy.
Nidoking vs Steelix
Now, this is a serious match up if we've ever seen one. Both these Pokemon can potentially put each other out of commission with their respective Earth type moves. The question is which Pokemon can take the other out and remain standing.
Donphan vs Flygon
This will be a Ground-based battle, though it's definitely hard to tell where the advantage lies. Flygon might be able to pull off a big Special move to take advantage of Donphan's stat spread, but let's not forget about the elephant's Ice Shard.
Hypno vs Alakazam
Hypno is doing what it tends to do in battle - hypnotizing its foe so it can gain an advantage. But will it work on Alakazam, who seems focused and ready to counter the blow? Only time will tell, but you might have an idea.
Charizard vs Blaziken
Charizard is a classic Fire type, one that many of us have chosen as our starter in Pokemon Blue and Red. However, Blaziken has hopped over from the third generation of the games, and it's ready with a massive Sky Uppercut.
Sandslash vs Golem
These classic gen 1 Pokemon are facing off yet again, and Golem looks like it has a score to settle. Too bad it's at a clear disadvantage in terms of typing, but maybe the crazy rock has a trick up its non-sleeve.
Venomoth vs Golbat
Venomoth has access to a number of status ailment-causing moves that can seriously debilitate Golbat during their battle. Despite that, one Brave Bird from the bat might be all that's needed to put the moth down.
Muk vs Dewgong
If Muk is equipped with an Assault Vest, Dewgong will need a super specific set to take it down. This one might come down to the experience and wit of the two trainers. Which direction do you think the fight will go in?
Jirachi vs Celebi
We never thought we'd see such elusive Legendary Pokemon duke it out in the wild to see who's number one. They both share the Psychic type, so their respective advantages might come from their secondary typings.
Oddish vs Bellsprout
Oddish and Bellsprout are two classic Grass type 'mons introduced to us in the first generation of the Pokemon games. While their full potential lies in their respective evolved forms, this miniature battle will still be one for the books.
Ursaring vs Snorlax
Ursaring is about ready to get something serious started. It sees competition in Snorlax, a fellow Normal type, so this ferocious bear is not likely to hold back. But let's remember that Snorlax is not a 'mon to be underestimated.
Octillery vs Kingdra
Octillery has access to a wide movepool, so you can bet it has something to answer Kingdra's pure offensive strategy. Will Kingdra's power be enough to take Octillery out with one blow, or do we have a real fight on our hands?
Dragonite vs Tyranitar
It looks like Dragonite is coming in with a powerful Dragon Claw, and he's Choice Banded from the looks of it. But Tyranitar will surely be able to take the blow and retaliate with Stone Edge. Is Dragonite's Multiscale enough of a defense?
Sudowoodo vs Slaking
Sudowoodo is pumped up with the thrill of battle, and Slaking looks like it's finally woken up from its reverie. Of course, with its Truant ability, you can bet that Slaking will be loafing soon after this attack. Let's see what happens.
Lugia vs Ho-Oh
When these two Legendary birds from the Johto region meet in battle, it's never easy to predict the outcome. There's no type advantage here, just pure offensive and defensive perfection. Who do you think will win?
Blastoise vs Feraligatr
Blastoise wants to show the world how powerful Pokemon from the Kanto region really are. Feraligatr doesn't mind, but it won't represent Johto Pokemon as pushovers, for sure. Both these Pokemon are determined, but only one will be victorious.
Wobbuffet vs Houndoom
Wobbuffet is usually ready with an answer against most Pokemon in the National Pokedex, but Houndoom presents a bit of an issue. One Dark Pulse attack might be all it takes to put the Psychic type Pokemon out of commission before it can Mirror Coat.
Nidoqueen vs Scizor
Nidoqueen and Scizor are both highly valued Pokemon in the competitive sphere, though the edge is probably given to Scizor in terms of ranking. Despite that, when these two face off, Nidoqueen can potentially unleash a Fire Blast attack, ending Scizor in one shot.
Greninja vs Clefable
Greninja is a top tier threat and has been ever since it was introduced, and the same thing can be said for Clefable. These two often meet in the Standard tier of competitive Pokemon, and the result varies depending on the match.
Lickilicky vs Jynx
Being the fully evolved form of Lickitung, Lickilicky enters every battle with the intent to use its considerable bulk to its advantage. Despite its ability to take a hit, though, Jynx doesn't seem too worried at all.
Swampert vs Infernape
Swampert definitely has the typing advantage in this match up, but let's not forget Infernape's versatility. Just look at that move pool! If you look closely enough, you might notice Grass Knot, a move Swampert is 4X weak against.
Mewtwo vs Deoxys
For a long time, there seemed to be no Pokemon who can dethrone Mewtwo as the most powerful, but then a host of new Legendaries entered the fray - Deoxys being among them. It's a telekinetic battle between two Psychic types!
Espeon vs Umbreon
It seems like an eventual confrontation between Espeon and Umbreon was written in the cards a long time ago. Psychic type attacks bounce off Dark type Pokemon, but something tells us Espeon has a trick up its sleeve.
Skarmory vs Regirock
Skarmory and Regirock are two physically Defensive tanks that can stall each other out for days with their respective recovery movies, but hopefully things don't come down to that. Let's see a lively match up between these two classic 'mons.
Farfetch'd vs Fearow
Farfetch'd is one of the more ridiculous Pokemon in the National Pokedex, but let's not forget its access to the boosting Swords Dance move coupled with its decent physical output potential. Is Fearow enough to stop it?
Hariyama vs Breloom
Hariyama and Breloom might not have been part of the original Pokemon roster, but since their respective introductions, they've both grown to be regarded as classic Fighting type 'mons in their own right. Who wins this one?
Lanturn vs Gardevoir
Lanturn is capable of absorbing a Special hit or two, but will its Specially Defensive capabilities be enough to shield it from Gardevoir's powerful Psychic attack? Lanturn's trainer needs a really good strategy for this one.
Metagross vs Gyarados
Metagross and Gyarados are two of the most powerful Pokemon in the entire series, despite the fact that neither of them are even considered to be Legendary. They're about to collide right now - which 'mon will win?
Natu vs Unown
Natu and Unown have been eyeing each other for a while now, though neither of them dared to make the first movie. However, a confrontation is unavoidable in this quiz, so they'll have to settle their differences here and now.
Ferrothorn vs Toxapex
It's time for two unbreakable tanks to face each other and see who is the tankiest. You can't escape these two walls in Standard play, and now, they can't escape each other. It'll be a long battle for sure, but we need to watch.
Articuno vs Rhydon
A Legendary Ice and Flying type Pokemon has descended from the divine skies to test Rhydon, and the Ground and Rock type Pokemon looks ready for the challenge. These original monsters are powerful, but which of them is more powerful?
Arceus vs Pikachu
For our final confrontation, the god of all Pokemon has descended from the skies, and fate has chosen Pikachu as its opponent. Pikachu doesn't like the idea - not one bit. Is there a chance for the little mouse here?
