Marvel has produced some of the most memorable characters in comic book history, not to mention just all of fiction. These heroes and villains have met up many times and gone on adventures together to save the world, and sometimes even the universe. The MCU brought the idea of crossing over superhero stories to the big screen, finally allowing moviegoers to see people like Captain America and Iron Man talking to each other or teaming up against Loki.
Throughout Marvel's history, however, there have been rivalries between many of its characters, even the ones who are on the same side. The Civil War storyline in the comics, repurposed for the film Captain America: Civil War, proved that even heroes can have disagreements so big that they have to come up against each other. There is always someone who wins and someone who loses, and there have been times when the outcome is a disappointment.
So how does someone pick a winner in a fight between Marvel characters? Whoever they choose as the potential winner probably says more about them than anything. So go ahead and choose the winners in each mashup to find a Marvel soulmate, someone whose values, personality traits, and even superpowers, are a perfect match.
Hulk vs Thor
Thor and Hulk have faced off against each other once in the arena on Sakaar. They're matched pretty well. Hulk has immense strength and will just keep going as long as there is something for him to smash. However, Thor is the god of thunder and can go toe-toe with just about anyone.
Luke Cage vs Iron Fist
These two superheroes have worked together on numerous occasions, but before they were friends, they didn't know what to think of each other. Luke Cage is virtually unbreakable, but Danny Rand has the power of the Iron Fist, which can really bring the pain. It would be a pretty incredible match if these two turned on each other.
Daredevil vs Ant-Man
These two superheroes don't really interact all that much, but it would be pretty interesting to see them go up against each other. For one thing, Ant-Man can shrink and retain all of his strength. However, Daredevil's heightened senses and lightning-quick reflexes might make it hard for Ant-Man to utilize his skills and abilities effectively.
Venom vs Hulk
Hulk getting into a fight with Venom would be quite the sight to see. Both of them are incredibly strong and also very agile, able to leap easily from building to building. However, one of them has to have the edge in combat. Hulk can smash with the best of them, but Venom is quite an opponent in his own right.
Black Widow vs Hawkeye
Black Widow and Hawkeye are actually old friends who formed a bond when they worked together for S.H.I.E.L.D. However, they found themselves on opposite sides of the battle in Captain America: Civil War. They both have incredible skills that would come in handy in a tight spot, but whose skills would prevail?
Scarlet Witch vs Vision
Scarlet Witch and Vision are also very close to one another, but they have come into conflict in the past. Vision was tasked with keeping Scarlet witch in the Avengers compound, but she managed to escape. They then found themselves on opposite sides during the events of Civil War. They are both very powerful, so who would win?
Iron Man vs Captain America
It's the most well-known feud between Marvel heroes: Iron Man against Captain America. They both fell on opposite sides during the events of Civil War, and it was then that we found out how evenly matched the two heroes really are. Cap may have his super soldier strength, but Tony's suits can put up with just about anything.
War Machine vs Jessica Jones
While these two heroes have never met on the battlefield or in a back alley somewhere in New York, that doesn't mean that a match between them wouldn't be a spectacle. War Machine has essentially all the power of Iron Man, but Jessica Jones has superhuman strength and limited flight capabilities.
Spider-Man vs Iron Man
Spider-Man and Iron Man have often worked together, most recently in the film Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tony stark even gave Spider-Man his new suit. However, there may come a day when these two disagree about something big, and if they have to fight each other, there's no telling who would win.
Punisher vs Deadpool
These two have similar skill sets, which isn't surprising. While Punisher actually served as a Marine, Mr. Pool has worked as a mercenary for hire. That doesn't mean they're similar in every way. While Punisher takes his work very seriously, the "Merc with a Mouth" is often found having fun and cracking jokes. The two of them getting in a fight would be pretty interesting to see.
Drax vs Wolverine
Drax is one of the best fighters in the galaxy, often leaping way before he looks. Wolverine, on the other hand, is a mutant with metal claws and a healing factor. There's no doubt that both of these heroes would give it their absolute all if they had to face off against each other, which would lead to a pretty intense fight.
Hawkeye vs Daredevil
Both Hawkeye and Daredevil have incredible skills that make them worthy opponents. On the one hand, you have Hawkeye's almost superhuman accuracy when using his bow and arrows. On the other, you have Daredevil's enhanced senses, which make up for his lack of sight. It might just depend on who can get the higher ground on this one.
Nebula vs Jessica Jones
Nebula is another daughter of Thanos, however her many losses to her sister, Gamora, have led her to be augmented with cybernetic enhancements. These add to her already considerable strength as a member of the Kree. Meanwhile, on Earth, Jessica Jones has super strength and limited capabilities. What would happen if these two women met each other on the battlefield?
Winter Soldier vs Punisher
Both Winter Soldier and Punisher have considerable skill sets. They both have military training and are proficient fighters. Punisher is an intense person who won't stop until he puts an end to the other person, but winter Soldier is augmented with a metal arm, plus the same super soldier serum given to Captain America.
Mystique vs Black Widow
Mystique and Black Widow have never come face to face on the big screen, but there are many comparisons to draw between them. Their biggest similarity is their combat style. Both Black Widow and Mystique seem to have mastered a form of physical combat where they utilize their environments and their own particular skills.
Captain America vs Drax
Both Captain America and Drax have considerable strength, and are excellent allies on the field. However, Captain America is a master tactician as well as a great soldier, while Drax usually just jumps into a fight without thinking. Would one of these styles give the participants in this fight an edge?
Black Panther vs Wolverine
Both of these heroes are named after animals, and they take many of their traits from the wild kingdom. Black Panther is imbued with the agility, strength, and fighting style of his namesake animal. Wolverine, on the other hand, is fierce, fast, and often a little bit messy. Putting these two up against each other would be pretty interesting to see.
Star-Lord vs Falcon
Both Star-Lord and Falcon are considerably skilled with the technology they utilize and are excellent fighters and pilots on the field. They both have similar personalities as well, with either of them cracking jokes while in the ring. It would be interesting to see who would have the edge in this particular bout.
Groot vs Hulk
Both of these characters like to talk in the third person, but they are radically different in almost every other way. Groot is often gentle and soft-spoken, but can really show his strength in a fight. Hulk, on the other hand, is nearly impossible to control, and once he starts doing his thing, it's hard for him to stop.
Colossus vs War Machine
The X-Men have not yet made their way into the MCU, but if they ever do, it would be amazing to see colossus go up against someone like War Machine. Both of them have the advantage of being encased in metal, only for colossus, it is his actual skin, rather than a suit.
Gamora vs Black Widow
Gamora may have enhanced strength and agility from her time spent with Thanos, but Scarlet witch has shown that she is not one to back down from a fight, even if it is with enhanced individuals. There's no telling who would win in this fight, but both opponents would probably have a lot of respect for one another.
Nebula vs Iron Man
Nebula and Iron Man met up and worked together in Avengers: Infinity War, but what if they ever had to fight against each other? Nebula is enhanced with technology, but so is Tony Stark. It would really depend on whether one of them is able to determine the other one's weaknesses.
Venom vs Wolverine
Venom is a pretty intense character, drawing the line somewhere between human and monster. He would probably intimidate most people, but not Wolverine. In fact, Wolverine might just chuckle at Venom's over-the-top appearance, but would he beat him in a fight? Both of them are strong and less structured, so it's really anyone's guess.
Black Panther vs Winter Soldier
Black Panther and Winter Soldier have gone up against each other before during the events Captain America: Civil War. However, they ended up finding a common ground and working together, with Black Panther even taking Winter Soldier back to Wakanda to fix his arm. What would happen if they had to face off again, though?
Spider-Man vs Iron Fist
Spider-Man and Iron Fist have also worked together on a regular basis, becoming great allies through their superhero work throughout New York. However, if there ever came a time when they had to go against each other, who could possibly win? Iron Fist has his martial arts prowess, but Spider-Man has plenty of skills himself.
Iron Man vs Ant-Man
Iron Man and Ant-Man have come into conflict before, when the latter shrunk down small enough to get inside of Tony's suit and start messing with the electronics inside. Of course, there were a lot of other things going on that took Iron Man's attention, so who would really win in a one-on-one match-up?
Scarlet Witch vs Gamora
Scarlet Witch and Gamora both have their own advantages in a fight. Gamora has been enhanced by Thanos to be stronger, faster, and a better fighter than almost anyone else in the galaxy. Meanwhile, Scarlet Witch is able to use her powers to move objects and manipulate the environment. Who would win this fight?
Hawkeye vs Punisher
Hawkeye and Punisher are both very good at what they do, so seeing them go up against each other would be pretty interesting. Hawkeye has almost superhuman accuracy, plus some legitimate hand-to-hand combat skills. Meanwhile, Punisher is a no-nonsense former soldier, who would do just about anything to beat his opponent.
Daredevil vs Black Panther
Daredevil and Black Panther both have excellent fighting skills, and have even teamed up on more than one occasion. However, if they ever had to go up against one another, it would be anyone's fight. Black Panther has enhanced agility and strength, but Daredevil has superhuman senses and excellent martial arts skills, meaning Black Panther might not be able to get the drop on him.
Spider-Man vs Ant-Man
Both of these heroes are named after bugs, but they're not as easy to beat as a regular spider or ant. While Spider-Man has enhanced strength and wall-crawling abilities, Ant-Man is able to shrink down and perform a sneak attack or grow big and just go right after his opponent as Giant-Man.
Wasp vs Gamora
Wasp finally got to demonstrate her skills on-screen in Ant-Man and The Wasp, but how would she fare in a fight against Gamora? Gamora is super strong and a great fighter, but Wasp has shown that she knows how to utilize her shrinking abilities to effectively give herself an edge in any situation.
Jean Grey vs Scarlet Witch
Jean Grey and Scarlet Witch have very similar abilities, but how would they fare in a fight against each other? Scarlet Witch has shown that she has powerful telekinetic abilities, but Jean Grey has shown the same plus telepathy and even flight as her alter ego, the Phoenix. This would be anyone's fight to win.
War Machine vs Venom
Venom has demonstrated that he has immense strength and can be really dangerous in any situation. However, someone like War Machine, who is equipped with the right set of skills and tech, might just be able to take on the symbiote-enhanced Eddie Brock. After all, War Machine is a trained soldier. Then again, Venom might be highly unpredictable.
Luke Cage vs Captain America
Luke Cage and Captain America are both super strong, but Luke Cage might have the upper hand, considering his unbreakable skin. Then again, it has been shown that Luke Cage can sometimes lose a fight to another enhanced individual. This seems like it might be an even match-up, but only one hero can win.
Jessica Jones vs Iron Fist
Jessica Jones and Iron Fist worked together in The Defenders, but what would happen if they had to go up against one another? Danny Rand can throw a mean punch with the power of the Iron Fist, but Jessica Jones has enhanced strength which might give her the edge. Either way, someone has to go down when these two come up against each other.
