There is a sports team in nearly every city. A team the fans get behind and call their own. It's amazing the pride people will have in their sports team and there is something to be said about walking down the street in the team colors and seeing everyone else wearing the same logos and colors. It makes it feel like home. Some cities are defined by the teams that play in them, as they are deep in the culture and fabric of the city life that if they were ever to leave, it would feel like part of the city left as well.
For some cities, game day adds an electricity throughout the streets and makes the city come alive. To live in a city with a professional sports team can bring much joy when they win, and sorrow if they lose. But they are worth visiting, especially if the logo on the jersey is a favorite. New York Yankees
The New York Yankees are one of the most successful franchises in all of sports and one the most popular teams in the Big Apple. The Yankees have won 27 World Series Championships in their franchise history and play at Yankee Stadium located in the Bronx.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are the most successful team in NBA history, having won 17 NBA Championships, the most of any team. They were founded in 1946, and won seven of their championships in a row between 1960 and 1966, finished the decade with two more, only not winning in 1967.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers have won 11 NBA Championships in Los Angeles, but 16 total as a franchise, as they started in Minnesota and won five there. That makes them the second most decorated franchise in the NBA. They are one of the league’s most well-known teams, known for players such as Kobe Bryant, Shaq, and Magic Johnson.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have won three NBA Championships in franchise history, which started back in 1988. Dwayne Wade was on all three Heat teams when they won, and they added Chris Bosh and LeBron James in 2010 where they won their next two.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have long been one of the most popular teams in all of sports and are the most valuable franchise in the entire world, with a value of more than $4 billion. They have won five Super Bowls in franchise history, with three of them coming between 1992 and 1995.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were established in 1967 and have won five Stanley Cup championship in their franchise history. Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls were the most successful franchise in the NBA in the 90s, as Michael Jordan and the Bulls captured six NBA Championships between 1991 and 1998, with two three-peats. They are the only franchise to have never lost an NBA Final series in league history.
Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings were one of the original six franchise in the National Hockey League and have won 11 Stanley Cup championships, the most of any franchise based in the United States. The Red Wings set a record for longest streak of not missing the playoffs with 25 seasons.
Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos were established in 1959 and have played in eight Super Bowls, winning three of them. They won back-to-back titles in 1997 and 1998. They are one of the NFLs most successful teams, having suffered only seven losing seasons in franchise history.

The New England Patriots have appeared in more Super Bowl games than any team in the National Football League, making it to the big game a total of 10 times. They have won five of them over that span, and have also captured 20 Division championships, and are currently on a nine-year run as Division Champions.
LA Galaxy
The LA Galaxy were a founding member of Major League Soccer and were founded in 1994. They are MLS’s most decorated club, having won five MLS Cups, four Supporters’ Shields and have appeared in nine MLS Cup finals. They made headlines when they signed English soccer star David Beckham, putting the league on the map.
Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers were an expansion team in 1993 and an exciting one at that. In their first two seasons they missed the playoffs, but in their third year they made it to the Stanley Cup Final, something unheard of for new teams. They also developed a weird goal celebration of throwing rats on the ice.
Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers were established in 1961 as the Washington Senators but relocated to Arlington, Texas in 1972. They have made eight post-season appearances in franchise history, and have played in two World Series’, but have lost both of them and still look for their first championship.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most successful NFL franchises since the league merged with the AFL, as the Steelers have won six Super Bowls, the most of any team in the NFL. They have the second most Super Bowl appearances, and have played in the most conference championship games with 16 appearances.
Chicago Cubs
The Chicago Cubs are one of the oldest franchises in Major League Baseball, having been established in 1876. They have played in a total of 11 World Series, and have won three of them. They are most known for their 108-year drought between championships, winning their second in 1908, and third in 2016.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions were originally from Ohio until they moved in 1934. They were a member of the NFL before the merger and won four NFL Championships. Yet since the merger, the Lions have not won a Super Bowl and one of four teams in the NFC to have not played in a Super Bowl.
Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies were established in 1993 and since then, have only made the playoffs four times, all of them wild card spots. In 2007, they did manage to make it to the World Series, but they lost to the Boston Red Sox in four games.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons joined the NFL in 1965, and have appeared in two Super Bowls in their history, yet they have not won one. Their last Super Bowl visit was known for the Falcons blowing a 25-point lead to the New England Patriots, the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.
New York Giants
The New York Giants football team is actually the second New York based team to use the Giants name, as the first were the baseball Giants. The two ranks third in most Super Bowl championships won, having won four before the pre-Super Bowl era and four afterwards.
Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins were one of the original six National Hockey League franchises, having been established in 1924. They are the third oldest team in the league, but the oldest team in the United States for hockey. They have won six Stanley Cups in franchise history, tied for fourth most in the league.

Los Angeles has two of every sports team except hockey, with their lone team being the Los Angeles Kings. They Kings have won two Stanley Cups since establishing themselves in 1967. They are known for being the team that traded for Wayne Gretzky it what is known as ‘’The Trade’ in the NHL.

The Miami Dolphins are the only team in NFL history to complete a perfect season, including winning the Super Bowl, which they did twice, back-to-back in 1972 and 1973. The perfect season came in 1972, where the Dolphins won 14 regular season games and three playoff games.
Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars moved from Minnesota in 1993, and have won two Presidents trophies as the league’s top point earners. They won the 1999 Stanley Cup in controversial fashion with the now famous, toe in the crease goal by Brett Hull in overtime of Game 6.
Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates have the distinction of being one of the two teams to have played in the first World Series in 1903. The franchise dates back to 1882, and has won five World Series championships, including their first in 1905, and their last in 1979.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are one of the original six NHL franchises that formed the league. They have won six Stanley Cups in their history, winning three between 2010 and 2015. The Blackhawks have won four Conference championships and 16 Division championships.
Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers have been the longest running Major League Baseball team to stay in the same city, with the same name in league history. They have won four World Series championships, their last being in 1984, and have won 11 AL Pennants, including their latest in 2012.
Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche were originally the Quebec Nordiques before the team relocated. The team was already a very good hockey club and in their first season in Colorado in 1995-96, they won the Stanley Cup, becoming the first team in league history to win the Cup after moving.
Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks have moved around from their start in Buffalo, to Milwaukee, to St. Louis, where they won their only NBA Championship in 1958, and then to Atlanta. They currently have the second longest drought in the NBA, having not won for 60 seasons.
New York Rangers
Playing out of the most famous arena in the world, Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, the New York Rangers are one of two New York-based hockey teams and have won four Stanley Cups in franchise history. They are one of the original six teams that started the National Hockey League.
Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox are the oldest team in Boston and started in 1901. They have won eight World Series championships and played in 12 World Series, but as best known for their long, 86-year drought of not winning a championship, known as the Curse of the Bambino.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers were founded in 1883, but were in Brooklyn before they moved across the country to Los Angeles in 1958. The Dodgers have won six World Series championships, five of which they did after they moved to Los Angeles.
Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins were known as the Florida Marlins when they started in 1993. They have only qualified for the post-season twice in franchise history, both in 1997 and 2003, earning wild card spots, but they would go on both years to win the World Series.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks were established in 1980 and as of today, have the longest sellout crowd streak of 704 games, the most of any team in the major league sports. They have won one NBA Championship, doing so in 2011 with Dirk Nowitzki as their star player.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are the current defending Super Bowl champions, having won the Super Bowl this year, the first in franchise history. The franchise was established in 1933, and has a great relationship with fans, having sold out every game since 1999.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears were one of the best franchises before the NFL merged with the AFL, as they won eight NFL championships before 1963. After the merger, the Bears have won just a single Super Bowl. But with a long history, the Bears have also won more games than any team in league history.
Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons originally played in Auburn Hills after they moved to Michigan in 1957, but were still billed from Detroit. They finally moved into the city in 2016. Since moving, the Pistons have won three NBA Championships, earning back-to-back victories in 1989 and 1990.
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets were a good team during the ABA days, but they are still looking for their first franchise championship. Since the merger with the NBA, the Nuggets have won seven Division Titles, but have yet to make it to the NBA Finals.
Atlanta United FC
Atlanta United FC is an expansion club in Major League Soccer that was established din 2014. In their first season they went 15-9-10, and earned a playoff spot. Based on attendance at the games, they are already to most supported team in MLS.
New York Knicks
The New York Knickerbockers, normally shortened to the Knicks, have been the main stay NBA franchise in New York since they were established in 1946. They play out of Madison Square Gardens and have won two NBA Championships in their franchise history, both in the 70s.
New England Revolution
The New England Revolution are one of the 10 founding members of Major League Soccer, and have been with the league since the first season. They have played in five MLS Finals, however, they haven’t won an MLS Cup as of yet.
Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles has had plenty of NFL teams over the years but known stay long term. The Los Angeles Rams are one of the newest franchises, having relocated from St. Louis in 2016. The team was originally from Los Angeles, playing there from 1946 to 1994, before moving to St. Louis, so it’s a move back to Hollywood for the Rams.
Miami Hurricanes
The Miami Hurricanes from the University of Miami, also known as The U, are one of the most dominate football teams in college football history, having won five Division 1 national championships. They ranked fourth all-time in most National title victories.
San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have the highest winning percentage of any franchise in NBA history and have won five NBA Championships in their history, putting them in fourth place for most championships earned. They have only missed the playoffs four times since joining the NBA.
Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are in their second stint as a team, as the first franchise relocated to Baltimore in 1996. Three years later, the Browns had returned to Cleveland under an expansion. The Browns haven’t won a Super Bowl, and has had 28 quarterbacks start at least one game since 1999.
Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox have been around since 1901 and are a founding member of the AL League. They have won three World Series Championships but are also remembered for the 1919 World Series where players on the team tried to fix the World Series outcome, known as the Black Sox Scandal.
Michigan Wolverines
The Michigan Wolverines are one of the top athletic programs in the NCAA. Their football team has a record 929 games won and have the most all-time wins and the highest winning percentage in college football history. They won the first Rose Bowl and have also won 11 National championships.
Colorado Rapids
The Colorado Rapids began play in 1996 and were a founding member of Major League Soccer. Colorado won the MLS Cup in 2010, which was their second appearance in the MLS Cup final. At the U.S. Open Cup in 1999, they lost, becoming the last non-MLS team to not win that Cup.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers were established in 1993 as the NFLs 29th franchise. They reached their first Super Bowl in 2003, but lost to the New England Patriots. They would return to the Super Bowl in 2015, but they lost again, this time to the Denver Broncos.
