The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been rapidly expanding since Marvel Studios first emphasized producing its own films through Paramount Pictures in 2005. The films were exponentially better under the creative direction of Marvel Studios and it also allowed for the integration of Marvel worlds. Iron Man could appear in a Spider-Man film (see Spider-Man: Homecoming) and all Marvel heroes could appear in a film together (see The Avengers and subsequent sequels). The first official MCU film was Iron Man, which was released in May 2008 and, over the course of the next decade, an additional 19 films have been released with plans for the 2019 release of Captain Marvel and another Avengers film. However, film isn't the only outlet that Marvel Studios have been using to expand its brand and universe. The MCU now consists of a number of television series, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter.
Those two shows are on ABC, whereas Netflix has also partnered with Marvel to create six different shows, all of which exist in the MCU. Each of the six shows have received largely positive reviews and some are already preparing for a third season.
