Today we're here to pose a very important question — what qualities makes a leading man? We all have those favorite actors that cross our mind or show up on our television and movie screens from time to time because we enjoy their work or simply like looking at them, but does it come down to more than just having a pretty face?

It has to, right? A true leading man has to possess some decent acting abilities in order to continually get cast because no matter how shallow we like to think Hollywood is, there has to be some acting chops to back up one's work in order to keep getting those coveted roles.

Also, does one stop being thought of as a leading man if they stop doing work for a little while? Think of George Clooney, for example. We haven't really seen him on screen in something for a few years now and yet, he's still a lot of people's first thought when they're asked to name a leading man.

Ryan Gosling

From The Notebook all the way up to La La Land or playing Neil Armstrong in First Man, Ryan Gosling will always be one of the most handsome actors around. And even though he's super talented and so nice to look at, he still manages to have this boy-next-door quality about him as well.

Chris Hemsworth may not be your favorite Hemsworth brother as Liam is also pretty awesome, but you must admit that he's certainly brought a special something to the character of Thor in the Marvel movies. Plus, with those broad shoulders and biceps, it's kind of like he was made to play that role.

Who else here misses The Office on a daily basis? We're not talking those two seasons where Steve Carell was no where to be found, but those first seven seasons that were pure magic. Aside from that, we totally appreciate Steve Carell as a leading man in all of the movies he's been in over the years too. He's just swell.

We just have to say that even though Riverdale is supposed to be an ensemble show, we certainly love us some Jughead Jones playing narrator and always being at the center of the drama. Having Cole Sprouse come back onto the acting scene in 2017 was such a treat that we have to hope he stays in the limelight for a very long time.

Jamie Dornan most definitely got roles in the film and television world before he was cast as Christian Grey, but it's safe to say that his role in the Fifty Shades Of Grey franchise pretty much cemented his place as a leading man. It's kind of funny that Zac Efron's first foray into the leading man world was way back when in the High School Musical movies. He's certainly grown up since then and we've enjoyed him in so many roles like The Lucky One and most recently the film where he played Ted Bundy — unpleasant, but he did a good job.
