While the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to knock the ball out of the park with their slew of widely praised blockbuster hits, the DCEU continues to fall short of meeting the standard. Why is it that, with such a rich archive of comic books to draw from, these movies continue to be viewed and reviewed so unfavorably? That's a mystery we won't be able to solve here, but what we can do is try to figure out which DCEU movie is the worst of the lot.
As these two cinematic comic book universes continue to unfurl, it looks like Marvel fans will end up having the last laugh. The Marvel cast draws in huge numbers of film-goers every year, fully satisfying the majority of them by the end of the story. On the other hand, while DC still manages to attract a respectable viewership, the critical consensus isn't nearly as favorable.
Instead of trying to save the DCEU through the power of this webpage, let's instead pick or pass on the following Marvel heroes and use the results to figure out which DC movie simply does not sit well. Let's get into it, and we'll reveal the big stinker once we're through.
Pick or Pass on Thor
Thor is plummeting to Earth hammer-first and is looking to make a big impression in this quiz. Pick or pass on this Marvel god, and we'll have a good idea of which DC movie is the worst of the lot. Let's do it before he flies back to Asgard.
Pick or Pass on Captain America
Captain America doesn't mind being at the center of the action - in fact, he was born to occupy it. He might not have the flashiest superpowers of the Marvel roster, but his leadership has been critical countless battles.
Pick or Pass on Hulk
If ever a fight doesn't seem to be going well for the Avengers, there's little need to fear when this wild card is lurking in the background, waiting for the right moment to smash into the fray. Let's pick or pass on this green titan.
Pick or Pass on Hawkeye
In all aspects but one, Hawkeye is essentially just a regular human being. However, his accuracy with the bow is so flawless, he's become a key member of the greatest superhero team in the Marvel universe. Should we pick this guy?
Pick or Pass on Black Widow
She can't fly, teleport or shoot lasers out of her eyes - despite that, anyone who dares to underestimate Black Widow will find themselves in dire straits. She's always several steps ahead of the game, waiting to make her move.
Pick or Pass on Spider-Man
If the Manhattan of the real world were anything like the Marvel version, we might see a red-and-blue figure scaling the sides of skyscrapers from time to time, and we'd breathe a sigh of relief knowing he's watching over us.
Pick or Pass on Rocket Raccoon
The Guardians of the Galaxy wouldn't be able to cover much territory without a seasoned pilot to bring them around. Aside from directing the ship, Rocket Raccoon is also the designated smart aleck of the crew.
Pick or Pass on Gamora
Being a child of Thanos definitely comes with its share of inconveniences, but at least her father's genes have gifted Gamora with extraordinary power. She's a core member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but does that warrant a pick?
Pick or Pass on Star-Lord
Star-Lord is a bit of a goofball, but we shouldn't fault him for it - after all, this is the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy here. With the help of his friends, nifty space gadgets and sheer luck, Star-Lord is a veteran of several great Marvel battles.
Pick or Pass on Ant-Man
Ant-Man is famous for being able to shrink himself to unimaginably small sizes, but let's not forget how he freaked all of us out when he grew several stories taller in Civil War. Should we pick Ant-Man, or do we pass him up?
Pick or Pass on Mantis
Mantis' powers don't center on battle at all - instead, she's supernaturally adept at experiencing the emotions of others through an ability called Empathy. There's a superpower that's worth striving to obtain.
Pick or Pass on Quicksilver
In the blink of an eye, Quicksilver can checkmate virtually all opponents regardless of their strength and number. When it's possible to move as quickly as he does, it's tough to find any challenge in a good battle.
Pick or Pass on Odin
In the Marvel universe, gods of thunder don't sprout up out of the ether - they're made and born just like everyone else. Being Thor's dad, we can only imagine how powerful Odin was in his time. Should we pick this legend?
Pick or Pass on Daredevil
Aside from being a unique hero in the Marvel roster, Daredevil also happens to be the center of one of the coolest series on Netflix. He might not be able to see very much, but in a way, he sees much more than most of us do.
Pick or Pass on Ancient One
While most of the Marvel cast tends to operate in the physical universe we're all somewhat familiar with, Ancient One and her students do their work in the astral plane, where the impossible becomes very real. Pick or pass?
Pick or Pass on Groot
In his current form, Groot is small and can't help out very much - however, some day, he'll grow into a great, tall tree once again. Though, even at that point, he probably won't be moving around very much. Pick or pass?
Pick or Pass on Wasp
As competent as Ant-Man is in getting himself out of sticky situations, there are cases where he'd be totally compromised without some clutch assistance by Wasp. Thankfully for our hero, Wasp is always keeping an eye on him.
Pick or Pass on Nick Fury
Nick Fury doesn't have Iron Man's suits or Hulk's muscles, but he's helped save the planet from sure doom as much as any Avenger. He's played by Samuel L. Jackson, which means the Pass button should be collecting some dust here.
Pick or Pass on Iron Man
As smart as we might think we are, our neurons are nowhere near as vibrant as Tony Stark's - if they were, we'd have built our own fleet of Iron Man suits by now. Without his suit, he's only a rich geek, but with it, he's a top tier superhero.
Pick or Pass on Iron Fist
It's a good thing that Iron Fist fights his battles in the imaginary world - if he were a professional MMA fighter on our side of the screen, his seconds-long fights wouldn't provide much of a show. Let's pick or pass on this hero.
Pick or Pass on Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch can manipulate the very space around her, producing bursts of energy that can clear an acre in a second. We've all seen what she can do in the Marvel movies, but has she proven herself worthy of a surefire pick?
Pick or Pass on Drax
Drax might be known for breaking everything around him, but deep down, all he really wants to do is have a laugh and spend some quality time with his friends. Guardians of the Galaxy fans know which button to click here.
Pick or Pass on Doctor Strange
At our current point in the grand scale MCU story, Doctor Strange plays a super pivotal role. He's a genius who can manipulate realities both present and unseen, but will that be enough to help save the universe? Let's wait and see.
Pick or Pass on Vision
Having entered the MCU as Jarvis, Tony Stark's supercomputer assistant, Vision eventually came upon his true form, and neither he nor we have looked back since. With his variety of exceptional abilities, Vision is a key Avenger.
Pick or Pass on Winter Soldier
We were all introduced to Winter Soldier in the MCU as a formidable villain, but that was only because he was under the mind control of HYDRA. When he's in his right mind, Bucky Barnes is actually a pretty decent guy.
Pick or Pass on Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel is here, and she's ready to whoop some adversarial behind. Once the forces of evil catch the gleam in her eye, their good sense should definitely send them running for the hills. Let's pick or pass on Captain Marvel.
Pick or Pass on Luke Cage
Only a select number of weapons in the world can put a dent in Luke Cage - even at that, he'd probably still find a way to recover and come back swinging. In any case, it's always better to have this hero as an ally than a foe.
Pick or Pass on Jessica Jones
Jessica Jones is strong enough to lift some considerably heavy objects, which means it's probably best not to mess with her. Thankfully, since she serves the side of good, she only picks fights with those who mess with others.
Pick or Pass on Sif
As powerful as Thor is, even the god of thunder needs a hand in battle sometimes. That's where Sif comes in, and there's no foe in the Marvel world that can intimidate her. Whoever she swings her sword at better be good at ducking.
Pick or Pass on War Machine
Being one of Tony Stark's closest pals definitely comes with its perks, namely in the form of an impossibly expensive suit that essentially gives a regular guy superpowers. War Machine is here, but as always, he's ready to take flight.
Pick or Pass on Nebula
Nebula is notoriously persistent - when she sets her mind on a certain goal (like taking out her sister, for instance), it'll take some seriously supernatural efforts to stop her. Should we pick this cyborg alien, or pass her up?
Pick or Pass on Loki
Loki is low-key one of the best Marvel heroes in the MCU. Of course, he didn't start out this way - in fact, when he first came to the big screen, this Asgard god was a real pest. Though, we suppose he's still a bit of a bugger.
Pick or Pass on Falcon
Falcon is always up there somewhere, surveying the skies and keeping the citizens of the MCU safe. He's loyal to Captain America - so loyal in fact, he'd even fight a squad of Avengers to help him. Do we pick this airborne hero?
Pick or Pass on Green Arrow
Green Arrow's proficiency with the bow and arrow is great enough to give Hawkeye a run for his money. While we'd love to test their respective shots with a brief contest here, we have neither the means nor the time to do it.
Pick or Pass on Valkyrie
Thor would not have been able to make it through the trials in Ragnarok without the help of Valkyrie - and the Hulk, of course. We shouldn't be seeing the last of Valkyrie just yet, so it's best to pick an amicable option here.
