Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse has been an immense success thus far. The film opened to a respectable number, but the biggest numbers have been the critical and audience responses. 97% from all critics on Rotten Tomatoes, 95% from the ever-fickle RT audience, a Metacritic Must-See certification, an A+ CinemaScore. Yes, needless to say, audiences and critics around the world have fallen in love with the flick. One of the reasons we believe this is the case (beyond the movie being really good, because trust us, it is) is the loveable cast of characters. There is one for everyone.

From the strong and growing Miles Morales to the hardboiled Spider-Man Noir, from the lovably snarky Gwen Stacy to the wisecracking Spider-Ham. Oh, and who would we be without mentioning the tried but true to his heart Peter Parker or the simply adorable Peni Parker. Captain America was born under the name Steve Rogers. A kindhearted but small man, Steve was unable to join the Military to fight for his country during WWII. Thankfully, a special serum granted him the strength of countless men, and he became the hero Captain America. A crash over a cold ocean ended up preserving the captain in time, and he was thawed out in modern day where he continues to strive for a better world. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Thor:

Thor was based off of the character of the same name from Norse mythology, who was the god of thunder. However, despite his influence from the myths of yore, there are plenty of differences between Marvel's Thor and the Thor from mythology. An arrogant man, Thor was taught a lesson in humility when his father, Odin, took away his powers and banished him to Earth below. He eventually learned the error of his ways and became a protector of Earth, as well as the rightful king of his home Asgard. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

The Hulk:

The Hulk was not always the way he was. Dr. Bruce Banner (or Dr. David Banner dependent on the source material) was experimenting with Gamma radiation when he took in too much of the radiation himself. Instead of collapsing permanently, Bruce surprisingly survived. However, it came at a great price: whenever he gets angry, Bruce becomes no more and the giant green monster The Hulk takes his place instead. The question is, is he worth a pick or a pass instead?

Black Widow:

Black Widow was born one Natasha Romanoff (alias Natalie Rushman). She was subjected to training that many would consider unnatural, pushing her body and her mind to the very limits. It was a difficult experience, but it worked, and she became the spy Black Widow. When out on a mission one day, she met Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, who showed her the error of her ways and offered her a chance at redemption at S.H.I.E.L.D. She went from a morally ambiguou spy to one of Earth's mightiest heroes. Is she worth a pick or a pass?

Hawkeye:

Clint Barton, or as he is better known, Hawkeye, is a vital member of the legendary team The Avengers. A kind-hearted man with amazing skills with a bow and arrow, Hawkeye has incredible levels of aim. While he spent the first Avengers movie corrupted by Loki, he has since taken on a more heroic role in the movies. We later got to meet his family, see his beliefs tested, but we did not get to see him om the Infinity War against Thanos and the Black Order. Next year's Avengers: Endgame should provide that moment. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Scarlet Witch:

Wanda Maximoff, or as she is better known, Scarlet Witch, is a very different character depending on the incarnation. In the comics, she is the daughter of the X-Men supervillain Magneto, alongside her brother Quicksilver (Marvel Wikia). However, these aspects were removed in the MCU due to the rights to the X-Men being held by Fox (Wikipedia). It is currently unknown if the upcoming Disney-Fox merger will allow for this backstory to be incorporated into the future movies. Is she worth a pick or a pass?

Quicksilver:

Pietro Maximoff, or as he is better known, Quicksilver, is also a very different character depending on the incarnation. In the comics, he is the son of the X-Men supervillain Magneto, alongside his sister Scarlet Witch(Marvel Wikia). Vision is a complex character: literally. Born from a number of different components, including the smart assistant JARVIS, the rogue robot Ultron, the power of Thor and many others, Vision is a kind and gentle soul who is unafraid to use his powers for good if needed. He is also known to be a romantic, having a sweet relationship with Scarlet Witch. He even learned how to cook her favorite meals... aww. A gentle giant of sorts, is Vision worth a pick or is he worth a pass instead?

War Machine:

War Machine, also known as Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes, is the best friend of Tony Stark/Iron Man, as well as the first to put on the suit that was not Tony. He has gone by a number of different names and appearances over the years, at one point taking the moniker Iron Patriot and decking his armor out with the stars and stripes. Needless to say, with Captain America already repping the U.S., this venture was very short lived. Is he worth a pick or is he worth a pass instead?

Black Panther:

Crown Price T'Challa of Wakanda may be a prince by day, but by night, he is the Black Panther, the sworn protector of his nation. It is a title he holds with great honor, and he uses it to help his people as well as others around the world. After the untimely passing of his father King T'Chaka, T'Challa found himself with a whole new set of responsibilities: those of the King of Wakanda. A kind and gentle king but fierce when needed, his subjects love him. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Spider-Man:

Peter Parker was just your everyday average teenager. There was nothing particularly remarkable about him, he was just a smart kid with a knack for science. However, his whole life changed in a major way when he was bitten by a radioactive spider. It changed his DNA in key ways and granted him the abilities of a spider. He took on the mantle of Spider-Man and ever since, he has been tough on bad guys and friendly on neighborhoods. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Doctor Strange:

Dr. Stephen Strange (yes, that really is his name), was a gifted surgeon with a bit of an attitude problem. However, despite his arrogance, he could back it up with a near-perfect success rate. Ironically, it was Strange himself who needed surgery after crashing his car off of a cliff. While the surgery was remarkably successful, Strange's hands were forever altered, making him unable to do his job. When looking for a way to repair them, he found the Ancient One who taught him the ways of her magic and passed on to him the title of the Sorcerer Supreme. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Ant-Man:

Scott Lang is an electrical engineer with a bit of a complex backstory. He was a thief who stole from the rich to give to the poor (and himself!). He changed his ways for the better, but when higher-ups at his company broke the law, Scott put it all on the line exposing the data and himself. He was arrested and tried, and upon release was without work. A tip came in to steal from an older gentleman, and Scott went, finding the Ant-Man suit instead of money. This gentleman, Dr. Hank Pym, taught Scott how to be the next Ant-Man. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

The Wasp:

Born Hope Pym, Hope Van Dyne aka The Wasp is the daughter of legendary scientists Hank Pym (the first Ant-Man) and Janet Van Dyne (the first Wasp). After her mother disappeared in an accident, Hope has wanted to fulfill her destiny and take on the role of The Wasp. It took her father a great deal of convincing, but eventually, he caved granting her a suit of her own. A competent fighter and skilled tactician, she is also romantically involved with Scott Lang. Shuri:

Shuri is the wise-cracking tech genius princess of Wakanda, as well as the sister of King T'Challa. While she may be younger than some of the other heroes in the MCU, she is definitely not to be underestimated. Showcasing one of the highest IQs in the universe to date (on par with or even surpassing Dr. Strange, Tony Stark, Peter Parker, and Bruce Banner), Shuri is a brilliant young scientist who can create almost anything needed. Is she worth a pick or is she worth a pass instead?

Captain Marvel:

Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, has an interesting history. In the comics, she originally went by the moniker Ms. Marvel but was later promoted to the role of Captain Marvel (Marvel Wikia). She is a kind, caring and dutiful hero, and if reports by Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige are to be believed, potentially the most powerful character we have seen to date in the MCU (Screen Rant). Falcon:

Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, is one of the best friends of Captain Steve Rogers (aka Captain America), as well as a really skilled hero. He met Steve on a series of daily runs, and they quickly hit it off, finding that they had a lot in common. It turns out they had more in common than originally thought, as Sam was not just an ex-Military man but also a fully fledged super hero in his own right. Falcon later got the chance to join the Avengers and fought alongside Cap in the Avenger Civil War. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

The Winter Soldier:

Steve Roger's best friend from the time before the war, James Buchannan Barnes or as he is better known, Bucky Barnes, was a soldier with a heart of gold. He was presumed to have passed after falling off of a train, but was recovered by Hydra agents and turned into The Winter Soldier. While he was brainwashed at first, he later came to his senses and joined Cap's side again, although it came at the cost of starting the Avenger Civil War. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Wong:

Wong is the close friend of Dr. Stephen Strange, as well as a master of the mystic arts. He is a kind fellow who seeks past the material world and has helped the Avengers on at least one occasion. He is also the librarian of the countless books on the mystic arts, and takes his job very seriously, although he has been known to enjoy some pop music on the job. Is he worth a pick, or is he more worthy of a pass instead?

Star-Lord:

Born Peter Quill of Earth, Star-Lord was taken by Yondu and his band of space pirates away from Earth to meet his father Ego the Living Planet. However, Yondu had different plans for him having seen the true nature of Ego and decided to raise him as his own son instead. From there, Star-Lord became a self-proclaimed legend, a laughing stock (among the few who knew him), and later a genuine hero. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Gamora:

Gamora was the adopted daughter of Thanos, as well as one of the most powerful women in all of the galaxy. She took her job seriously but was a little too wicked for her own good. When she found a family of her own in the Guardians of the Galaxy, she changed her ways for good and began to fight on the side of the light. Still a fierce warrior, she now only turns her blades on those who truly deserve it. Is she worth a pick or a pass?

Drax is a powerful warrior with a massive level of anger towards those who took his family away from him: namely Thanos and Ronan. He fights for his family, and can struggle with humor and sarcasm, but is a generally kind person behind his rough and gruff exterior. Rocket Raccoon was experimented on at a young age, which led him to develop a number of trust issues. However, once you come to know him, he really is a nice guy. A skilled technician, he can fix almost any problem. He also has a strange love for prosthetic limbs and glass eyes... really strange to be sure, but he collects them regardless. Oh, and be sure not to call him a raccoon, he does not like that one bit. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Mantis is a very emotional character... literally. With the mere touch of her hand, she can tell what a person is thinking, and more so, how they are feeling. Yondu was not the best dad to Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) growing up, but gosh darn it, did he ever try! The head of a team of Ravagers (aka Space Pirates), Yondu is not a man to be taken lightly. He has a fin upon his head and an arrow that he can command to fly through the air at large speeds with a mere whistle. While he might not always be the friendliest, he has a big heart deep down. Oh, and he's Mary Poppins, Y'all! Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Nebula:

Nebula is the other adopted daughter of Thanos, and she spent a great deal of her life in the shadow of her older sister Gamora. Thanos often made the two spar for his amusement, and the one that lost had one of their limbs replaced with a cybernetic one. Needless to say, Gamora always won. This led to a great deal of resentment to grow in Nebula's heart, but she later patched things up with Gamora and they both resolved to defeat Thanos together. Is she worth a pick or a pass?

Kraglin:

Kraglin was Yondu's right-hand man, as well as another father figure of sorts to Peter Quill. A kind man, but still a space pirate at heart, Kraglin has helped the Guardians of the Galaxy in a number of tricky situations and is even something of an honorary member. Fun fact for our readers, Kraglin is played by Sean Gunn, the brother of Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn. Sean also does the motion capture work for Rocket (Wikipedia). Is Kraglin worth a pick or a pass?

Howard the Duck:

Howard the Duck is one of the strangest characters in Marvel history, and they have been known to have a number of strange characters over the years. A wise-cracking duck, Howard is perhaps known for staring in the George Lucas passion project Howard the Duck which was... interesting to say the very least. It led to Howard becoming something of a joke in the Marvel community, and he surprised everyone by appearing in the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Loki:

Loki is a very difficult character to pinpoint, and we would not expect anything else from the so-called Trickster god. He grew up in the shadow of his brother Thor, and his desire for the throne led him to become a rather ruthless force. Eventually, he was humbled and defeated not once but twice, becoming a somewhat heroic figure in the process. That being said, we do use the term heroic rather loosely here. Valkyrie:

Valkyrie is the last of her kind after the ruthless Hela took out her remaining compatriots. This led her to become rather distant and cold, but her time with Thor melted her icy heart and allowed her to relax, have a bit more fun and step back into the heroic role she once had. Many loved Tessa Thompson's performance as Valkyrie and hope to see more of her in the near future. That being said: is she worth a pick or a pass instead?

Korg:

Korg is a very funny character. A gentle giant in the purest form, he has joined Thor on a couple of journies. He is a bit of a wise-cracker and often has the best quip for the given situation. However, despite his gentle nature, he is still a force to reckoned with on the battlefield. Fun fact for some of our readers, Korg is voiced by Taika Waititi, who also directed Thor Ragnarok (Wikipedia). Is Korg worth a pick, or is a pass better suited for him?

Thanos:

Thanos is one of the most complex villains we have seen in recent cinemas, let alone the Marvel Universe. He could have easily been a 100% bad to the bone character with little to no redeeming qualities, but Marvel took a lot of time developing him into a more flawed cautionary character. His intentions are beyond noble. He genuinely wants to help the world and believes he is the only one able to make the tough choice required. The problem: his methods are beyond extreme. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Okoye:

Okoye is a heroic force to be reckoned with, as well as one of the most important people in Wakanda. The leader of the Dora Milage, Okoye has assisted the Black Panther on a number of different journies and has protected his life against many threats. She is also a very funny character with a number of great lines. She was one of the leading forces in the Battle of Wakanda seen in Avengers: Infinity War. Is she worth a pick or is a pass better suited for her?

Killmonger:

Killmonger is another genuinely complex and well-developed villains. He wants to be king of Wakanda, and he believes that his methods to do so are ultimately worth the cost. His goal is to help protect those who are marginalized by society, but while T'Challa believes in a more diplomatic and pacifist approach, Killmonger believes that fighting is a necessary tool to bring justice to the world. Is he worth a pick, or is a pass better suited for him instead?

Hank Pym:

Hank Pym is one of the most complex heroes in the Marvel universe both within the comics and outside of them. He was the original Ant-Man, as well as the developer of the Pym Particle. After losing his wife Janet, he has become a bit of a shut-in and is rarely seen by the public. He picked Scott to be his successor and trained him very well. Michael Douglas has played the role of Hank in both Ant-Man movies exceptionally well. Is Hank worth a pick or a pass?

Janet Van Dyne made the ultimate sacrifice, choosing to go subatomic and getting herself trapped in the Quantum Realm to save humanity. It was believed for a while that she was gone for good, but after Scott Lang went subatomic, the search for her was revitalized. Venom is a complex anti-hero. Journalist Eddie Brock by day, Venom by night, he has a desire to eat things that many would consider... unnatural. He loves the taste of eyes, lungs, and pancreas, which is strange. Venom is the combination of the symbiote Venom and Eddie Brock, and they are a force to be reckoned with. If you see him, you should probably run, but Eddie has at least instilled some sense of morality on the symbiote, making him less of a threat to innocent people. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Ultron is another one of Marvel's more complex villains. He was created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner as a means of protecting the world, and he did just that at first. However, his programming was a bit too literal, and he developed a sense of self-awareness and resentment towards Tony and the other Avengers. He posed a great threat to the world and one that simply had to be stopped. Is he worth a pick or a pass instead?

Wolverine:

Logan aka Wolverine can be a bit of a complex character, but he truly is a hero a heart. A nearly immortal mutant, he has large claws that can extend from his hands. He was part of the Weapon X program which coated his skeleton with the rare material Adamantium, making him even more of a force to be reckoned with. Logan is one of Marvel's most popular heroes and one we hope to see join the MCU sooner rather than later. Is he worth a pick or a pass instead?

Deadpool is not super, and he certainly is not a hero, but he will do what he wants because he technically cannot be hurt permanently by anything. Born Wade Wilson, Deadpool is a notable wise-cracker known as the Merc with a Mouth and can break the fourth wall to suit his mood... Like right now! Professor Charles Xavier, or as he is more commonly known, Professor X is a kind mutant. One of the first to advocate for mutant rights on a large scale, he started his own school to help teach those in need how to control their powers. He has been played brilliantly by both James McAvoy and Picard himself Patrick Stewart. We also hope to see him join the MCU in the near future in a brand new X-Men series. Magneto:

Magneto is something of an extremist. He genuinely believes in mutant rights, and under the right circumstances, can be a genuinely kind man. He also has a genuinely sad backstory and sympathetic motivations. However, he believes above all else that mutants should overtake humans, whereas Professor X believes that both must co-exist peacefully. Michael Fassbender brought Magneto to life in the X-Men prequels and Gandalf himself Ian Mckellen played him in the main series. Is Magneto worth a pick or a pass?

Cable:

Cable is in many regards the straight man to Deadpool's more zany character. He plays everything straight and can be too serious for his own good, but it is not hard to see why. He lost his family and will do anything to get them back, including crossing many lines that even anti-heroes would not dare cross. However, he is still a hero at heart and can be reasoned with. Funnily enough, Josh Brolin plays him and Thanos, a fact that Deadpool gleefully pointed out. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Domino:

Domino is a very lucky character... literally. Her main power is luck, and boy is it powerful! With luck, pretty much everything goes her way, from a car driving itself to a large inflatable animal protecting her from an impractically high fall, with luck on her side, anything goes. Jean Grey is a very complex character. She has a similar set of powers to Professor X, and in many regards, she even surpasses him in terms of power. However, all this power comes at a cost, and she has been corrupted by the power a couple of times making her a genuine force to be reckoned for. She is a genuinely good person, it is just really hard for her to control her powers, making the intervention of her friends vital. Is she worth a pick or a pass?

Daredevil:

Matt Murdock was an everyday kid enjoying himself. Then, an accident struck, and a man was in imminent danger! He went to the site of the accident and saved the man, but was blinded in the process. However, his loss of the one sense elevated all of his others (particularly hearing) in the process. A lawyer by day and a hero by night, Murdock does not live an easy life, but he is a truly good man no matter how extreme his methods may get. Is he worth a pick or a pass?

Quake:

Daisy Johnson was an orphaned girl that struggled to make ends meet. She went by the name of Skye and was a rather talented hacker. She later joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and that is where her life truly changed. It turns out, her birth name was Daisy Johnson and she was part alien. Powers within her later awoke and she gained the ability to cause earthquakes. This led to her taking on the name Quake and fighting for good. Is she worth a pick or a pass?
