Pick Or Pass On These Characters To See Who's A Potterhead And Who's A Twihard

Potterheads and Twi-hards of the world, unite! For I have created a quiz that will place a series of characters from each franchise against each other to see which fandom wins once and for all. Normally, I am the type of person who does everything that they can to eliminate as much conflict as they physically can. I am a mediator, negotiator, and peace maker at heart. In fact, a large portion of my childhood memories are centred around trying to keep my cousins from ending each other after every single disagreement.

I am also not one to put two opposing fandoms against each other and make them battle in the Thunderdome. But, as someone who self identifies as both a Potterhead and a Twihard (gasp, I know,) I thought it would be a really fun idea to pit the characters from each series against each other to see which fandom owns a larger plot of real estate in my heart. But this quiz is not just for me. I took my fandom obsessed heart and used to it curate a quiz which i sent out into the world so that every member of these two fandoms can take it for themselves and see which franchise truly owns their heart.

Question 1

Hermione Granger

Ah, the brightest witch of her age. Miss Hermione Jean Granger is one of the best aspects of the original Harry Potter book series and I will fight anyone who disagrees with this statement. Sure, Hermione lets her emotions run her life to a certain degree and is almost ruthless in her attempts to protect her loved ones and do what is right... but isn't that endearing, in a way? Her determination, courage, big heart, and drive is truly a thing to marvel at.

Question 2

Bella Swan

I know that Bella is a controversial character but I love her. She consistently puts the mental and physical welfare of her loved ones above all else, is always willing to throw down in order to protect her loved ones (or even complete strangers,) stands up for what she feels is right, uncompromisingly determined, and goes toe to toe with immortals when they could so easily wipe her out. These are traits that I truly admire and want for myself.

Question 3

Draco Malfoy

I find myself being torn when considering my opinion on the character of Draco Malfoy. Though I do feel as though he was truly a git in his younger years and that his demeanor and name-calling ways are unforgivable, I do note that he is a product of his raising. He was raised in a home with extreme beliefs, where that sort of language was the norm. And though he never directly apologized for his actions, he did show that he was no longer that boy. I remain torn.

Question 4

Newt Scamander

There he is! My little boy! The sweetest little bean in the entire wizarding world. I will do absolutely everything within my power to protect this man for he deserves all of his wildest dreams to come true. My heart nearly broke when he did everything he could to ensure the safety of his animals after being taken into custody by the wizarding government in the US. Newt deserves the world and I hope that the rest of the films have good things in store for him.

Question 5

Ronald Weasley

Since I am the official leader of the Ronald Weasley defense squad, I thought that it was only right to start this entry off by declaring my never ending love for this character. Yes, Ron can be short tempered and incredibly quick to anger, but he will do whatever it takes to protect his loved ones. He calls it like he sees it and does everything that he can to make sure that no sin goes unnoticed and no wrongdoing goes unpunished.

Question 6

Carlisle Cullen

Carlisle may be the most compassionate vampire in the entire immortal world. He spent the first few months of his new life hiding himself from the waking world out of fear that he was the monsters he used to target. But a sudden realization made him change the entire trajectory of his new life and he determined to spend the rest of his never ending life using his extra powers to help out every single member of the human race that he can.

Question 7

Queenie Goldstein

Though I have concerns over the new clique that Queenie has found herself in, I love the way in which she was written. Equally strong and feminine, Queenie is as soft as she is powerful and neither trait ever even attempts to cancel the other one out. It is so rare that we see characters that are portrayed in such a way as such softness is so often equated with weakness. But Queenie is different and that difference is what makes her special.

Question 8

Luna Lovegood

When I was a little girl, I thought I was a Hermione Granger through and through. That is, right up until the literal moment that Luna Lovegood appeared on screen. After that, I knew I was a Luna. The best thing about Luna is the fact that she never hesitates to speak. She tells people what they need to hear without worrying about the consequences, she expresses her vulnerabilities and secrets without worrying about what people think, and shares her emotions without a second thought.

Question 9

Alice Cullen

Though I thoroughly enjoyed the Twilight films, I do gripe that they left too much of Alice's character to be imagined. The books were filled with scenes of her interactions and relationships with Bella and sadly none of them made it into the final film. One would be surprised to know that they were more than lukewarm acquaintances had they only watched the film. Luckily, fans of the series can still turn to the books if they crave to relive that bond.

Question 10

Fred & George Weasley

This pair of brothers are so perfectly matched that I could never consider separating them. Not for one question. Not for one second. And it's a good thing that we will never have to imagine what would happen if the two boys were separated. It's not like there is any event which occurs in the story that would make us have to even consider what would happen if the twins were separated. No, I may be in denial but I like it here.

Question 11

Professor Flitwick

Though Flitwick was the recipient of a mid-series makeover that rendered him utterly unrecognizable between films, we love him all the same. I may come across like a bit of a teachers pet, but I would be willing to state that I believe that Charms is one of the most important classes that students can take at Hogwarts. It teaches us the basic charms and spells we need to get through an everyday life as a wizard. Without it, we'd be lost.

Question 12

Kate

There is something utterly electrifying about this one. But I just cannot seem to put my finger on it. But electricity puns aside, this immortal packs a real punch when under pressure. Okay, now I am done. Kate is a member of the Denali clan (a secondary large clan of vegetarian vampires who hold a permanent residence in Alaska) who agrees to help the Cullen's protect their youngest member from the Volturi's ignorance. Luckily, everything works out for them in the end.

Question 13

Cedric Diggory

This character is one of the deciding factors. The choice made on this question will truly tip the scales one way or another. Will the person taking this quiz side with Edward Cullen or Cedric Diggory? Does their heart still beat for the immortal world or does their allegiance still lie within the hallowed halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? One thing is for sure, we still might take up Cedric's offer to use that special prefect's bathtub.

Question 14

Edward Cullen

I know that Edward Cullen has both a questionable and outright bad reputation in the fictional world but I honestly believe that the way that one interprets this character can be based on how the reader chooses to see his actions. If they are looking for something negative, then that is what they will see. But be aware that the circumstances within the series are anything but ordinary so they cannot be so easily related to their everyday counterparts and normal situations.

Question 15

Emmett Cullen

For the first time in the history of book based film adaptations, I will assert that, in the case of Emmett Cullen, the film surpassed its source material. Though I did love the book version of Emmett, the jokes and silliness that were added to the film version of his character truly enhanced the childlike wonder and goofy spirit of Emmett in a way that was not present (or, at least, not as strongly shown) in the original book series.

Question 16

Hagrid

Hagrid does not get the respect that he deserves and it breaks my heart that he continually gets sidelined throughout the series. Why didn't Harry Potter name one of his many children after the man who rescued him from the rumble of his childhood home, from the Dursley's house twice, and from the forest at the end of the series? But I guess none of that can measure up to having a weird crush on Lily Potter for like thirty years.

Question 17

Mike Newton

Though the humans were thoroughly underrated and ignored throughout the Twilight series, I would have to say that Mike Newton might be the best human. He is funny, excitable, and always ready to go along with whatever plan that his friends have proposed. Though his date with Bella was cut short due to illness, he still continued to attempt to woo her from a respectable distance. He accepted her rejection and never pushed her beyond her boundaries. Take note, Jacob.

Question 18

Tonks

Tonks may be one of the greatest Hufflepuff's of all time. She is utterly and undeniably cool. There is physically no way to deny how intensely and immensely cool Tonks is. It is genuinely a tragedy that Teddy never got to meet his mother because I can guarantee that that boy is going to be a total chip off the old block. She single handedly raised the innate cool factor for every single Hufflepuff out there. Bow down before the Huffle-Queen, we are not worthy.

Question 19

Victoria

Victoria may be one of my favourite villains of the modern fictional world. I just simply adore the idea of a villain that plays in the shadows and never has the guts to fight her own battles until absolutely necessary. Now that I think about it, Victoria and Voldemort have a lot in common- I mean, in the fact that both of them have taken issue with literal children and neither of them are competent enough to end things themselves.

Question 20

Harry Potter

Ask anyone who their favourite Harry Potter character and most people will pick anyone other than the boy who lived. Except for Hagrid. He would pick Harry. Harry often gets written off because of his saviour complex, temper, and tendency to isolate himself. But I think that these situations were all misread. Harry was going through so much and did everything he could to shoulder the burden alone and avoid exposing his friends to his struggles. It was out of kindness rather than ego.

Question 21

Garrett

If the Brits are coming, don't let Garrett know. Though he has won his fair share of battles, he still holds grudges against the entire nation of Britain for their battles waged and their pop music. After travelling to Forks to aid in the final battle, he pledged his love to Kate and vowed to follow her anywhere. Luckily, when he moves to Alaska with his new mate, Kate, he can enjoy a lovely vegetarian lifestyle free of anything from Britain for the rest of eternity.

Question 22

Renesmee Cullen

Alas, another controversial character. I love Renesmee and think that she was a wonderful addition to the family. It is so wonderful that Bella did not truly have to lose anything in order to become the vampire that she was always meant to be. However, it does sadden me that she appeared so quickly after the wedding as the couple did not get a chance to truly be together and experience life itself and as a unit before being thrust into parenthood.

Question 23

Dumbledore

I have yet to decide how I feel about Dumbledore. Of course, I have warm feelings of love towards him because of the role that his character played both in the series and my childhood. And I recognize that he was a flawed human being who did his best. But it frustrates me that no one in the series questioned him or his actions to the point that Harry had to struggle solo because Dumbledore thought it was best for him.

Question 24

Emily Young

Emily Young is a character that will always have a special place in the heart of every Twilight fan because of the bittersweet nature of her backstory. Her kind, maternal, and loving nature makes her a character that audiences are drawn towards and want to empathize with. Regardless of one's opinion on her relationship with Sam, the sadness that accompanies the story behind her scars is unshakable. I wonder what Sam thinks when he looks into her eyes and sees those marks he left.

Question 25

Professor McGonagall

Professor McGonagall is an absolute power house and I am not sure whether or not I am in love with her, admire her, or completely, entirely, and utterly intimidated by her. I would love to be on her good side but I cannot imagine how truly unsavoury it would be to be on her bad side. I would not wish something like that on my worst enemy. Truly unimaginable. If I were currently taking this quiz, I would pick McGonagall.

Question 26

Jane

One of the best literary tropes is the beautiful angel with the hidden danger below its white wings. Something that Jane embodies to a T. Everything about her delicate face seems gentle and inviting. Her eyes, even when sizing her enemies up in order to figure out the proper amount of pain to deal them, are soft and innocent. And yet, she is one of the most dangerous members of the Volturi. In fact, without her they might not be as intimidating.

Question 27

Charlie Weasley

Though he barely made it into the films (aside from the odd photo and off hand comment,) Charlie Weasley is an integral part of the Weasley clan and deserves a spot on this quiz. He is one of the coolest members of the Weasley clan (which is an intense competition and one that I am glad that I am not a part of) and I hope that he gets a bigger role whenever Hollywood decides that remakes of the films are necessary.

Question 28

Charlie Swan

It's the battle of the Charlie's. Controversial opinion: I don't think that Charlie was that good of a dad. Now, I'm not saying that he is a bad person. No, he is an absolute delight and he tried as best as he could. But both of Bella's parents were simply not meant to be parents. She raised herself while taking care of her parents and putting their needs first. I think she was drawn to Edward because he was the only person to put her first.

Question 29

Sirius Black

Something that will always break my heart is the tragic tale of Sirius Black. Though I am happy that he was able to achieve true happiness at two points in his life (during his friendship with a young James Potter and after reuniting with his godson, Harry) it truly saddens me that his joy was continually cut short. Sometimes I hold onto the belief that he survived the fall and is simply trapped behind the veil. I don't know it that is worse.

Question 30

Aro

Aro is a brilliant villain for, like Victoria and Voldemort, he is a man of inaction. He runs his empire on intimidation. He uses the laws of his people to bend his enemies to his will and does everything he can to solve issues without having to leave his home. My spirit animal. A man after my heart. Though I do question his tendency to eliminate those surrounding people that he wishes to take on as pets for his collection.

Question 31

Lily Potter

Let us share a moment of silence for Lily Potter. Scholar, fighter, mother. Lily wore her convictions and emotions on her sleeve. She was never afraid to stand up for what was right, especially if it was her friend who was wrong, and had a heart big enough for everyone to fit inside. She loved her husband and son with every fiber of her being and few things are as tragic as the fact that she was taken from them so early.

Question 32

Arthur Weasley

Though there were more than ones fair share of father figures for Harry that could act as relative stand-ins for the late James within the Harry Potter series, I would have to say that Arthur is the absolute best one. The amount of love that he has for his children, wife, adoptive children, and the muggles of the world is unending. There is just something beautiful about the fact that Arthur is nothing if not loving, compassionate, and unwaveringly kind.

Question 33

Rosalie Hale

Though tenacious and tempestuous, Rosalie is still one of the greatest characters in the Twilight series. From her truly and sadly tragic backstory to her triumphant victories, Rosalie Hale is an absolute force to be reckoned with. Rosalie's many traits include never hesitating to make her opinion known, immense mechanical knowledge, a fierce protective streak, a strikingly maternal nature, the ability to charm anyone with her immensely and unfairly perfect face, and ability to turn any and everything into a disagreement.

Question 34

Seth Clearwater

Part of my soul aches for this little teen aged pup as he has been through the ringer in the short period of time that the series takes place. However, his unwavering enthusiasm and zest for life makes it completely and utterly impossible to feel anything close to pity towards him. Seth simply would not allow it. The boy is kind, loving, and eager to a fault. Always ready to do whatever the pack needs him to do without complaint.

Question 35

Benjamin

Benjamin is honestly overpowered. Who decides which immortal gets which power? I know that it is based on things which each person had an inclination towards in their mortal life. But what could a mortal possibly do that was anything like what Benjamin can do? Does anyone out there know any mortals that spend their days water bending at Whole Foods? Truly surprising. Carlisle gets super compassion, Esme gets the ability to mother any and everything, and Benjamin can control every element on Earth.
