Let us see here...how well do people know Harry Potter? How many people consider themselves true Harry Potter fans? Well, there is one thing that is certain here, there is no way that anyone could consider themselves a true Harry Potter fan unless they can beat this quiz. Acing is not necessary, but beating the quiz is pretty well the only way that someone could actually take the title of "True Harry Potter Fan".
I would never expect that every single quiz-taker in the world would be able to take on this challenge and claim that title but I know there will be a number of people who really think they deserve it. Well, maybe they do. Maybe that is a title they deserve. But that's only if they really know things like what language Harry can speak besides English. Or who that poor ghost in the girl's bathroom is.
This is the sort of quiz for people who know how to read their tea leaves. The sort of Hogwarts students who know their house colours, know their classes and which professors teach them and really know the who's who in the wizarding world. This Fan title can only be taken by someone who knows the true name of evil but who can also whisper the nickname of evil instead, for safety...and why not know a thing or two about sports as well?
Who is this creep?
This creepy-looking guy here is one of the nastiest film villains of the past two decades. He has done all sorts of horrible thing. I mean, he tried to kill a child along with his parents...and that is the first thing you really learn about this evil character. This guy is not always in his own form and has had to rebuild his power in order to look like the creepy guy in this photo but his power has always resonated.
What is this trophy?
This is one of the biggest awards in the wizarding community. At least when it comes to the students in the wizarding community. This trophy brings wizards from all over the world together to compete in all sorts of trials to see who the greatest of them might be. Even with that, there is a specific number of wizards who are even given permission to compete. You can't be a newbie wizard (unless you're Harry) and you have to submit and then chosen to compete.
What is this omen?
When Harry is in Professor Trelawney's class, he and his classmates go about reading tea leaves. Ron makes up a hilarious interpretation of his own tea leaves. Harry does not even get a chance to interpret his simply because Trelawney freaks out as soon as she sees what she believes is a very horrible omen in his leaves. There is a pretty specific name that refers to this omen. This same omen was seen up in the clouds at one point as well.
What is the magical newspaper?
This magical newspaper is referred to so many times in the books and the film franchise that anyone who doesn't get this has really not ever paid attention to either the books or films and really cannot say that they are fans. This is the newspaper where we learn about a ton of trivial wizarding news as well as all sorts of stuff about Voldemort, Sirius Black, and all sorts of other bits of news. Fans even meet an annoying reporter in the story...
What is this magical sport?
This magical sport is perhaps one of the most dangerous sports in not only the wizarding world but just...in the world. Players have been zapped by lightning while racing through storm clouds in search of a shiny object with which they could win the match. This sport is played entirely in the air while riding brooms and therefore there are some pretty nasty injuries with people falling or getting hit mid-air. It's not a pretty sport but it is a pretty cool sport.
Who is this ginger lad?
This ginger lad is one of the more important characters in the whole story. The audience see him grow up alongside two other main characters the whole way through the story. He falls in love with Hermione Granger and they do eventually have children together who go to Hogwarts later on with Harry's kids and Draco's kids. Which must be a very interesting experience for them. At any rate, this character comes from a very large and rather poor family.
What class does Severus Snape first teach?
The first class you expect that someone like Severus Snape might teach is actually not the class that he does teach. He teaches something a little less suspecting; something a little less his style. That being said, he is still a very hard teacher to impress and he doesn't not suffer fools lightly. He also really doesn't like it when people don't pay attention in his classroom. One recalls the famous line "turn to page 394". That line is one of the most repeated.
Which Hogwarts house is this?
This should be trivially easy, it must be said. There are only four houses in the Hogwarts school of wizarding so it's not like there are too many options for people to choose from. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw are the four houses that there are to choose from. One is pretty honourable, one is pretty silly, another is pretty underhanded and the last is at least upstanding. Given the colouring and the coat of arms, which house should one think this is?
Who is The Prisoner of Azkaban?
The third installment of the Harry Potter series is called The Prisoner of Azkaban. Now, there are many prisoners in this terrifying prison where inmates are perpetually tortured by horrifying and darkly magical creatures. But that doesn't change the fact that the title of the third Harry Potter is The Prisoner of Azkaban. So, the story revolves around one, solitary figure who has escaped from this prison where no one escapes from (much like Alcatraz). Who is this character who has escaped from this prison?
What position does Harry play?
Harry finds himself playing the magical sport of Quidditch. It is a very interesting sport and he only gets to play on the team simply because of taking off on a broom when he is not supposed to. That being said, he becomes perhaps the most important player of the team who is responsible for seeking out one magical item that is very tiny. Imagine trying to seek out a tiny orb in the great vastness of the sky, no matter where it goes (including stormy clouds).
How did Harry get that scar?
If anyone did not happen to notice that Harry Potter has a strike of lightning as a scar on his forehead then these people have not really paid attention to Harry Potter as a story or as a person. This scar is actually a very important plot point and it constantly is reacting to the presence of a certain type of evil. There is a very important reason why Harry does get this painful reaction in his scar. It is because of how he got the scar.
What is the name of Ron's rat...so far as he knows?
Yes, I know, don't worry. Ron's rat ends up not actually being his rat. It is actually Peter Pettigrew who happens to be able to transform himself into the form of a rat that happens to be missing a toe. This is something that is explained party way through the overall Potter story. But this is all stuff that has nothing to do with the actual question at hand. The question is about what Ron called his rat, given that he didn't know it was actually a human posing as a rat all this time.
Who is this professor?
This professor is first seen on the Hogwarts Express in the film series when he offers Harry Potter some chocolate. Apparently, chocolate helps deal with experiencing Dementors firsthand. There doesn't seem to be any good reason as to why this is the case but apparently it is. At any rate, this professor has a pretty significant health problem that really transforms him and because of this he steps down as professor of Defense Against The Dark Arts. Unfortunately, he dies defending Hogwarts.
Where would we find the Hogwarts Express?
The Hogwarts Express is a pretty important train as it is the main transport to and from the magical wizarding school of Hogwarts. This train leaves from a train station that is deep in the heart of Muggle territory. Now, it seems pretty strange that no Muggle really seems to ever notice that people are disappearing through walls but that doesn't change the fact that the way in which witches and wizards get to the Hogwarts Express is by strolling through a wall to a specific spot called...?
What is this little gem?
This little gem is pretty important. It allowed the creator of the gem to live with his lover for just about six centuries. This is a pretty fantastic gem. So fantastic that Voldemort went out of his way to do everything he could in order to retrieve it and use it to bring himself back into power. Several professors sealed the gem away guarded by many creatures, riddles, and illusions. Of course, Harry and company make their way through all of these and Voldemort follows...
What language can Harry speak besides English?
It is found out in the second installment of the Harry Potter series that Harry can actually talk to snakes. That is pretty darn cool, if you ask me. That being said, it terrifies everyone in the school because they worry he is the very person who is controlling the evil creature that lives in the bowels of the Chamber of Secrets. Of course, this is not the case, he is just magically gifted this special language...maybe because he's more connected to Voldemort than he thinks.
What is the name of the wand shop?
Once Harry is introduced to the wonderful world of wizarding, he is thrown headlong into the way witches and wizards go about their business. He knows nothing about what stores to go to to get whatever he needs. He finds himself in a store that is completely dedicated to the sale of magic wands. Now, the interesting thing here is that many of these wands have been previously used by other witches and wizards and the wands choose their master; not the other way around.
What new broom does Harry get when his is trashed?
Harry has some pretty awful luck when it comes to...pretty well anything in his life at Hogwarts. At any rate, there is a point in time where his broom gets trashed. This might not seem like a very important thing but he does happen to play a pretty important role on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and that should be enough to warrant him getting a brand new broom. Well, as a very surprising gift, Harry finds himself the proud owner of what kind of broom?
What is the name of Voldemort's snake?
This is probably one of the coolest characters of the entire Harry Potter series. Don't be fooled though, of course, this is a very evil character and a very important one because it is also one of the horcruxes which makes the destruction of this character a key part of destroying Voldemort. This particular horcrux is Voldemort's personal little pet who likes nothing more than devouring any enemy of the dark lord that it can. If my life hung in the balance, I'd want to get rid of the enemies too.

This particular ghost has been haunting the women's washroom for a quite some time in Hogwarts. That being said, seeing ghosts kicking around the school isn't exactly a new or fancy or scary thing. Nearly-Headless Nick spent quite some time wandering the hallways and he doesn't seem to have scared too many students. Anyway, this particular ghost met her mortal end thanks to Tom Riddle and his use of a monstrous creature that is kept in the Chamber of Secrets...

Oh, my goodness! Harry is staring at not only himself but also his parents! This is perhaps one of the most depressing things because Harry is simply staring at an illusion. He happens to have to deal with many of these when it comes to seeing his parents throughout the series. It's a pretty tragic relationship that Harry has with his parents. Regardless, the question here is about what exactly it is that Harry is looking into. This is a very important and manipulating object.

This particular map is a very important object when it comes to getting around Hogwarts at night and evading the people on duty to make sure that students aren't getting into trouble or aren't ending up in dangerous and forbidden places in the building. Harry gets this map from Fred and George Weasley who have a bit of a business when it comes to magical little toys and tools that help the wizard and witch get up to no good.

There are werewolves in Harry Potter. What I should specify is that there is one very important werewolf in the Harry Potter story. He is very important mainly because he is one of the best characters in the series. He unfortunately does die while fighting at Hogwarts against the Death Eaters and Voldemort but that doesn't stop him from being one of the most charming and most put-together heroes of the good guys in the Harry Potter series...even if he is a werewolf.

This slippery snake of a character is perhaps one of the most vile in the story. Well, he appears to be one of the most vile but he is actually just a really big coward who wants nothing more than to keep his status and his wealth and lose nothing. Of course, that changes when he almost loses his son and when his son decides to switch sides because he realizes what is really at stake with Voldemort and the Death Eaters...this guy definitely ends up in prison.
Who is this happy couple?
Well, this looks like a pretty happy couple. I would love to place a bet with someone as to whether or not this couple remains happy all their days. Somehow I think I would bet against that. Regardless, this is a pretty important couple in the overall story of Harry Potter. While they are not seen too much or heard from too much, they are still very important and driving influences in the wizarding world and in Harry's life as well.

This is probably one of the most hilarious sequences from the Harry Potter series. Some may remember Stanley who is the conductor of this very odd form of transit. He's pretty good at stating the obvious and then following up with some wonderful quip to make someone feel stupid. "Whatcha fell over for?"..."Well, come on then. Let's not wait for the grass to grow." This is a great sequence. It gets a little odd when this vehicle squeezes everyone toothpick thin though.

Oh, this little piece of material is pretty special. At least it appears to be. When it appears, that is. That hunk of material in Harry's hands has allowed a number of people to get away with a number of both good and bad things. There are plenty of naughty things to get up to with something like this. Thankfully, Harry is only interested in getting to the truth about things going on around Hogwarts, otherwise, he could have caused a lot of trouble with this item.

This is probably one of the least and most favourite characters of all the series. She is a huge pain at the beginning of the series. She acts like she knows everything (because she actually does, for the most part) and she is not afraid to show that she knows. Of course, her character grows quite a bit and we find that it is because of her insecurities that she has worked to become so smart and her smarts help the good guys an awful lot.

Alright, so basically the deal here is that if no one could actually guess the name of this character...then there is no way that they are at all a fan of this series. I mean, it is pretty darn clear and obvious. Or at least it should be and there is really no excuse at all for anyone claiming to know either the film or book series. This young wizard is perhaps one of the most key components to the story...

This should be a no-brainer for a great many of the Harry Potter fans out there. It seems like most fans tend to drift towards this Hogwarts house and I'm not fully sure just why that is exactly. It's not a bad choice and there are only four choices to be made anyway but it seems like favourite characters might have something to do with fans hoping that the sorting hat will throw them in this house. Which house is it though?
What is the name of the magical bank?
Harry Potter, so far as anyone knows at the very beginning of the story, is just an orphaned boy who lives under the stairs in a house full of people who loathe him. That sounds like a pretty bad deal. But that all changes when Hagrid comes to take him to Hogwarts. And while he would seem to be poor, it turns out that Harry has a fortune stowed away in a vault at this certain magical bank...where a few important items are also stored.
What is this little item?
This item that Harry Potter is holding in his hands is a pretty important item in the game of Quidditch. Harry is given the role of Seeker, whose job it is to track down this magical little orb, no matter what the conditions are. If this item is captured before game time is up, the team who catches it wins the match. That doesn't mean it always happens and it doesn't mean that there aren't occasional strikes of lightning during games...but they think it's worth it.

This great magical item that everyone is gathered around is a pretty key component to the fourth installment of the Harry Potter series. This is the very thing that aids in the choosing of the wizards of the Triwizard tournament. Harry gets into quite a big mess with this one. He is not supposed to be of a level to compete but he is chosen anyway. And it is because of this that he must watch Cedric Diggory get killed.

This guy is probably the biggest fraud in the entire Harry Potter series. He is hired at Hogwarts as the Defense Against The Dark Arts professor but it turns out that he pretty well knows nothing about magic. Sure, he knows some pretty handy spells that allowed him to wipe the memories of some great wizards so he could take on their achievements for himself but beyond that, he can't really do much at all. And, thankfully, he eventually gets a taste of his own medicine.

These two ginger boys always seem to be up to no good. And why not? They are pretty darn good at getting into trouble. Or rather they are very good at doing things that could get them in trouble...but they don't quite seem to get caught as often as you might expect. Unfortunately, it's not all sunshine and rainbows for these two. When battling it out against the Death Eaters, one of these ginger lads ends up being killed. Their mother gets revenge at least...
Who is this three-headed creature?
This gigantic, three-headed beast is not something you want to come across while going for your daily stroll around the school. To be fair, this creature was placed at the entrance to a chamber that needed heavy guarding against Voldemort and his Death Eaters. That being said, this big bad creature is actually easily subdued. What is the secret? All it takes is a little bit of soothing music to put this big dog down. Just be careful that the music keeps playing or you might end up with a scratch.
Who is this master wizard?
This marvellous and magical man is perhaps one of the greatest wizards to grace the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizarding. He just seems to know everything. He really does seem to know every single thing that is going to happen. He even seems to know when he is going to die and by whose hands. It probably has something to do with him setting it up, partially, so that the greater plan of defeating Voldemort can truly happen. Crazy...but great.
Who is this stressed student?
This guy is probably one of the biggest pains for a good chunk of the series. He's always there to get Harry in trouble. Or at least he really tries to. He also loves to point out how rich and powerful his dad is while Harry's dad is gone...which is pretty awful and depressing. However, when this poor kid realizes the cost of what it is to be on the side of the dark lord, he goes out of his way to aid the side of good.
What are these terrifying creatures?
These creatures are probably among the worst that appear in the Harry Potter series. Worse than the werewolves, or the trolls, or the Basilisk, or any of that. Why? Because these horrifying creatures just suck the essence right out of people. They take any joy you had and they drain you of it. These are the wardens that work at the Azkaban prison and they are not nice at all. They don't even say a word to you before they come up to you and start draining what makes you human.
What are the three unforgivable curses?
So, here's the thing...wizards at Hogwarts are not supposed to be learning about these particular curses other than in an academic, theoretical way. I think it makes sense that students are not taught how to torture or kill one another. And these curses are all basically forbidden in the wizarding world. That doesn't stop the bad guys from using them though. And they use them a lot. Amycus Carrow instructs people to use them on classmates who get detention. Bellatrix uses one of them on Hermione...
Who is this young Hogwarts student?
This poor kid should be well known to a lot of Harry Potter fans. And even beyond that, he should be well known to a lot of Twilight fans. Why? Because this is the same actor who plays Edward in that horrible series. But there is a more important reason than that for people to know just who this kid is. That might have something to do with this poor kid being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
What is the name of this hippogriff?
Hagrid seems to always have some sort of ownership of or friendship with some exotic creature. and I don't mean some creature like a parrot or kiwi. No, not at all. Hagrid has had spiders, dragons, giant, three-headed dogs, and hippogriffs. Now, this hippogriff is something special especially because, at a certain point in the story, everyone assumes that this creature has been put to death. However, thanks to travelling through time, the creature is saved. But what is the creature's name?
What's in the box!?
This is a pretty awesome sort of creature. A very scary creature but pretty darn awesome all the same. Remus Lupin goes out of his way to introduce this creature that lives in a trunk. It has a special ability. It takes whatever someone is the most afraid of and becomes that very thing in order to throw people off guard. This sequence allows us to learn that Lupin is afraid of full moons. Maybe he is a werewolf or something.
Who is this wicked witch?
Next to Voldemort, this is probably one of the most fowl magic users in the whole Harry Potter series. So, what does that mean? Well, it means that she goes out on a rampage torturing all the good witches and wizards she can. She uses the Cruciatus curse on Hermione. She kills a member of her own family, Sirius Black. She also takes the life of one of the Weasleys...which was a huge mistake and she is, eventually, defeated by the Weasley matron.
What is this monstrous creature?
This is probably one of the coolest characters in the entire series and that has nothing to do with it being able to freeze people. To be fair, the creature doesn't freeze people it actually petrifies them. This is how Moaning Myrtle was killed before she became a ghost of the girl's washroom. This creature dwells deep in the Chamber of Secrets and can be communicated with by Harry thanks to his ability to speak Parseltongue. Harry ends up killing this beast with a sword.
What is this gloomy place?
This is one scary-looking place, I would say. This is the place where you will probably find the most Dementors hanging around in one spot. Why? Because this crazy, oceanic place is meant for some of the worst criminals who receive much unwanted attention from the Dementors as they work at sucking the very life essence from inmates. Much as I love being on the water, I have to say that I would never want to be living in a place like this.
Who is this arachnid?
This special arachnid is a pretty wise but temperamental creature who loved to feast on human flesh. This was one of Hagrid's creatures at one point. The actual term for this sort of giant spider is Acromantula, and it is this specific Acromanutla who almost had Ron and Harry for dinner. Or at least dinner for his many kids. This creature lived in the Forbidden Forest for a time but did eventually die. Many people thought this creature was a creature of House Slytherin
Sirius Black can turn into a black dog because he is a what?
Sirius Black is one of the most amazing characters of the series and not just because he was played by Gary Oldman in the film series. He is pretty amazing just because of how upstanding his character is no matter how insane the Ministry or the general magic population think he is. Aside from people thinking that he murdered Harry's parents, he possesses a special ability. What is the ability? He can turn into a big, black, ravenous dog. What does that make him?
Which vault does Harry find his fortune in?
Even though he might seem like a castaway kid who lives under the stairs, it turns out that Harry Potter is actually rather wealthy. But it's not like he blows his coin on all sorts of things. He didn't even know he had wealth until he was about 11. And even then, he did nothing to earn it. It was simply left to him courtesy of his parents. I'd say that's a great gift but somehow I think he would have preferred that his parents lived rather than scoring riches.
