Since the late 50s and early 60s, biker gangs have been polarizing in the public’s eye. While they were generally depicted as a bad influence on young people and seen as troublemakers wherever they went, some people found their rebellious lifestyle attractively interesting whether they intended to join a gang themselves or not. Yet only recently have we had a show that explored the inner-workings of a biker gang that depicts its members in a sympathetic light, and that series was called Sons of Anarchy. Running on FX from 2008 to 2014, it told the saga of SAMCRO, a biker gang located in the fictional town of Charming, California.
The main focus of the show was not only the gang’s various illegal operations, but also the inner drama of its members. But the show’s lead character was Jackson “Jax” Teller, who initially starts off as the vice president of SAMCRO and eventually becomes its president all while questioning the gang’s actions as well as his own. Not only was this show one of FX’s highest-rated series as it ran for seven seasons, but it also has a spinoff show in the form of Mayans M.C. In the town of Charming, which resides in California’s Central Valley area, lies the SAMCRO biker gang’s main clubhouse as well as a warehouse where they store and manufacture guns as their main source of income. But then a rival gang called the Mayans Motorcycle Club raid the warehouse of all its guns, and burn it down once they’re finished. Meanwhile, the vice president of SAMCRO Jackson “Jax” Teller moves into SAMCRO’s clubhouse after leaving his ex-wife Wendy who is pregnant with their child Abel.

Tara also begins a relationship with Jax, despite being stalked by her ex-boyfriend Joshua Kohn who works for the ATF that are currently investigating SAMCRO on a number of charges.

Following a series of misunderstandings and screwups, an inside hit on Opie fails when his wife gets caught in the crossfire. So to cover all this up, Clay decides to put the blame on the Mayans M.C. leading to one of their members getting taken out. Then to make sure SAMCRO doesn’t get incriminated, Jax makes it look like the One-Niners did it who are the Mayans' rivals. In the midst of all this, an organization called LOAN make plans to take over Charming with help from a local businessman and another biker gang.

To make their presence known, several members of LOAN led by a man named Ethan Zobelle crash a SAMCRO party demanding that they stop selling weapons to the Mayans and the One-Niners. After Clay tells them to leave, Gemma is assaulted by masked individuals. She suspects one of them is A.J. Weston, a colleague of Zobelle’s who is seen at a new shop which Zobelle owns. This eventually leads to Clay and several SAMCRO members to head over there and demand protection money from them.

Among the individuals that took Gemma, followed by her subsequent assault, there was a blonde woman involved as well. This woman is later identified as Polly, Zobelle’s daughter, leading Gemma to inform the Deputy Police Chief David Hale about her. As a result, several members get arrested by the San Joaquin County Sheriff Department while one member slips away.

After a reluctant bail is made by Oswald, most of the SAMCRO members who were arrested at the church are let out on the promise that they’ll support his run for mayor against Jacob Hale, Jr., David Hale’s older brother who’s secretly supporting LOAN. In turn, SAMCRO decides to go up against LOAN but decide to settle it in a fist-fight between Jax and Weston. Unfortunately, Zobelle gets released and hightails it out of Charming while Jax’s son Abel gets taken by someone else.

It is quickly revealed that the one who took Abel was Cameron Hayes, SAMCRO’s connection to the IRA who did it avenge the life of his son Edmond whom he thinks was taken out by SAMCRO though it was actually Agent June Stahl of the ATF who Edmond was working for as a double-agent. Meanwhile, Jax and the rest of SAMCRO attempt to get information on Abel’s whereabouts from a bounty hunter in exchange that they help him track down a skip (someone who’s gone missing in wake of a large debt).

In light of the information, the bounty hunter gave them after dealing with the skip, SAMCRO made plans to amass as much money as they can to not only get to Belfast, Ireland to find Abel but also to support Gemma who’s dealing with difficult family matters as well as the motorcycle club itself. So they not only help their hired assassin Happy Lowman with a pharmaceutical favor but also try to get in on the Mayan M.C.’s substance trade by sending two members undercover.

In that time, Tara has a son named Thomas who was conceived by Jax before he was incarcerated. Also, there are new plans for real estate development which will significantly affect the town of Charming which has been pretty quiet and small for many years making it the perfect place for SAMCRO to hide out in and conduct their operations in secret.

Following Jax’s confrontation, Juice comes clean about being the one who was informing the police about SAMCRO’s activities such as the substance exchange between SAMCRO and the Mayans hoping to keep a sample for himself. So Jax forgives him and offers a chance at redemption. This leads Juice to help Jax frame Clay for a crime he didn’t commit as a way to get even with him for all the crimes he’s committed including recently helping the Nomads biker gang who were responsible for the home invasions.

This in turn makes Gemma suspicious, who decides to confirm whether Tara is actually pregnant again or not.

As Tara makes the final plans to divorce Jax and take the kids with her somewhere else, she’s confronted by Gemma who does her in. This also comes at a time when the Sons of Anarchy organization at large comes bearing down on SAMCRO itself, despite being the father charter of the whole group, as Juice decides what to do with himself as well in wake of all the crimes he’s committed. In attempting to fulfill his father’s legacy, Jax’s ultimate decision leads SAMCRO to abolish something in their constitution.
